So, Wings of Velis Vel that costs 1 more (colored) mana for the chance to overload it. Unfortunately, it removes all abilities, so it doesn't work so well with saboteurs like Cephalid Constable or Cold-Eyed Selkie. Still triggers Cipher abilities, though.

Dragonshift for standard is not something I would run. Its overload cost can be good, but its regular ability is ok. I can possibly boost your creatures and weaken others. Maybe a stall deck with a lot of low level tokens could pull this off, but not usable for most decks. 2.5/5.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but this actually works really well with things like Kiln Fiend or the newer Nivix Cyclops. They trigger on casting, their ability goes on the stack, the ability resolves, and then this resolves. Congratulations on your turn three possible 7/4 flyer.

@Taudisban Yup, you are completely correct. This does not overwrite pumps, you a Kiln Fiend will become 7/4 after you cast this.
On an unrelated note, DGM is the first set in a while not to have any actual Dragons in it. I guess this will have to do.

Overload on this actually changes the text of the card to read "You win the game." Seriously, EVERYTHING IS DRAGONS.
I was mortified when this came out. Going to play dragons in extended tribal tonight and this monster isn't available until Friday. DAMN IT TO HELL!!!! 5/5 from me, 4.5/5 for not being legal tonight.

But seriously, this is less of a combat trick and more of an "I win" card if overloaded with even a handful of utility creatures on the field. A Goblin Electromancer or two, a Guttersnipe, even a freakin' Augur of Bolas suddenly become DRAGONS! Best Izzet rare ever, in my humble opinion. Because who can argue with a field full of dragons?

Perfect with a Nivix Cyclops or two. Because the will become 7/4 dragons. And if you cast a few more spells before you play this they are even stronger than that.

I would like this better if it was each creature, not just ones you control, or target creature you do or do not control. That way, it would kill tribal decks that pump their creatures based on subtype, and against gruul beaters that go in for 57 damage a turn with 3 creatures, it would give you longer to live.
