This guy was surprisingly effective for me in the pre-release. Don;t under-estimate his ability to injure upon card draw; there are a lot of effects in Mirrodin that draw. Have fun!

What would happen if Quicksilver Gargantuan came in as a copy of this creature. Would the power and toughness be the Gargantuan's or the number of cards in your hand?

All effects and spells cannot resolve and/or check until the current resolving spell or ability is done doing so.
In other words, no, the crawler won't die.

Hmmm...I believe I'm gonna love this card once I get it. Play along side a few Reliquary Tower, maybe a Venser's Journal or two, and your lookin' good. If you can get your hands on Arcanis the Omnipotent, Archivist, and a nifty little instant like Braingeyser, well...okay I really want to do this now.
@thisisnotmyname are you sure the crawler doesn't die in the middle of Time Reversal? Might need to buff it up. Stick an eel umbra on it...?

Semblance Anvil, mox opal, and the mana myr to get this out turn three, followed by a turn four sphinx with enough mana left for a turn aside. Okay that will never happen, but getting this guy out turn four is amazingly powerful in the right deck.
Because the crawler's toughness isn't checked during the resolution of the spell he survives. The same principle is is applied to molten Psyche.
EDIT: @theswarm I started my Crawler deck like that, but eventually subbed white for red due to slagstorm and molten Psyche.

This + Skullclamp + Affinity stuff + Ravager + Disciple of the Vault = epic win

Casual player, first time poster. I mix this up with Consecrated Sphinx, Mycosynth Golem and Rush of Knowledge. Was curious if it turned Aladdins Lamp into the direct mana to damage machine-gun I think it does. I tinker the golem or lamp in by the by...

Play this guy, followed by Consecrated Sphinx, the counter a spell with Arcane Denial. They draw 2 cards, you draw 5 total, and deal a lava axe worth of damage while countering.
Could do other fun in standard. Keep around Oculus, Myr Sire to power up a Vivsection & play Bone Hoard. Splash black for more control, or red to put in Galvanoth and Make Jace's Ingenuity or Vivisection go off like charms.

So does this thing make ONLY opponents (Lets say the person across from), lose 1 life, when I draw a card? So I won't lose any life?
I have that exact combo in a blue white draw go counter.. its interesting hahaha
@ This is not my name... again...
Thats funny cuz I just splashed red in mine last night too for pyroclasm, molten psyche and fling, and maybe burning inquiry once the majority of the deck rotates out.
Is it just me, or is this even better than niv-mizzet? It costs five, can be played by any color, makes aaall players lose life, has a power and toughness that can reach much higher than niv-mizzet (And often will be), and the damage can't be prevented or sandbagged. the one thing niv-mizzet has over psychosis crawler is a dragon subtype which doesn't seem that relevant for the types of decks people play niv-mizzet in and his draw ability. I guess his draw ability does allow for some pretty broken combos, but in a vacuum this card seems much better
(yes i know you can burn in response tot he life ebing paid, yes i know there are tons of ways to get around it. But arent there always ways to get around everything? so dont *** about it.)
This card is underrated by some who say things like "His power/toughness depend on something else. Bad." However, having cards in hand is something that also directly helps the player. Just need enough drawing power. It is a little overpriced though. I think 4 colorless would still be a fair cost, as it is vulnerable to artifact destruction, as well as the hand limit and the player will often want to play cards in their hand. For the same price you could get Batterskull.. I really think this should be a four cost.

sorry dude but psychosis crawler dies when you use winds of change type effects as at some point during the spells resolution you have zero cards in hand and therefore psychosis crawler has zero toughness
it makes me wish for a lhurgoyf type thing where psychosis crawler would have 1 extra toughness so you could use those effects

If I were to play a card like Molten Psyche, when I shuffle my hand into my deck wouldn't it bring his toughness to 0?
So this is what happened: Cryptoplam is Psychosis Crawler. I cast Time Reversal. My oppenent and I throw away our hands and draw seven cards. Because he draws 7, I draw 21, making my total card draw 28. Two Psychosis crawlers means 28x2 for 56 damage. THEN Hive Mind kicks in and we do it all over again for a sum total of 112 damage, then he takes the top 28 cards off his library and throws it into his graveyard.
In the right deck this can be a fatty with some sort of built-in Underworld Dreams (that can be buffed easier, since giving you card advantage is a more light-hearded thing to do that providing it your opponent.) Just saying that he has a Niv-Mizzet-like trigger might be easier, though :P
Pity it's not a */*+1 like Tarmogoyf, so it wouldn't die if you hand gets empty.

Mindmoil wouldn't work. You'd discard your hand, the Crawler would be a 0/0 and die as a state-based effect before you even got to draw. You'd have to buff his toughness some other way. This guy DOES work wonders in a card-drawing deck though. People quickly realize what kind of threat he is, and go out of their way to get rid of it ASAP.
Has a simple and very sweet synergy with Curiosity. Personally I use this in a Barrin, Master Wizard commander control deck.

Molten Psyche, Winds Of Change, Molten Psyche, Jace's Archivist, etc. all work for sure, this won't die. State-based effects like a creature having zero toughness are not checked during the resolution of a spell. The only time state-based effects matter during the resolution of a spell is if there's a triggered ability somewhere like "when you have no cards in your hand..." like the card Veiled Crocodile.
Shout out for dis guy, won archenemy for me with all the drawing cards! Absolutely beautiful. Also played a deck around 4 of these bad boys and control/draw deck.
I can see this card also being pretty mean in EDH! Grats good multiplayer card! 4/5

I love to abuse this with Gin-Gitaxias, Ivory Tower, Venser's Journal.... So many ways to have fun with it...
This guy plus Yawgmoth's Bargain. It's basically, "I pay X life, draw X cards, and everyone else looses X life." I've one-hit people with this combo too many times to count.
This card is a wincon in my Experiment Kraj EDH deck. Get out Arcanis The Omnipotent and Mind Over Matter then keep drawing and discarding until you find this, then pitch some lands to untap lands to play it, then get Primal Command and Deadeye Navigator and Eternal Witness, play the Navigator and the Witness, soulbond them, discard the rest of your deck, floating mana while you do it, play Primal command shuffling your grave into your deck, draw the whole deck again, regrowth the primal command with e-wit, discard your deck again, rinse repeat to kill anyone with any life total
Total cost 7 mana. How you get that mana and those three cards in one hand is up to you.

Curiosity can't create an infinite damage loop with this guy. Curiosity triggers when the enchanted creature damages a player, Psychosis Crawler causes loss of life, they are not the same thing.

I wanted this card to work in my Sydri EDH deck so badly, since I have so much card drawing, but this is one of those "build around" cards that just never seems to reach its full potential swiftly enough.

im so glad to see this card now i can make another red, blue draw burn deck. but this time my main creature isn't legendary
Well it's a Precon Rare like we know them: Constructed unplayable. Beside that it's a nice card for Casual.
Lol, my thoughts exactly.
This'l go great in my discard deck as a fallback.
