Jace and Jace's Phantasm work well together, oddly enough.
And also, first to comment on M13 Jace. Whoo. *Ticker tape ticker tape*

Thanks to the art (especially his hair), I always call this version of him "Jace, Anime Adept".

Like most things he's alot better in limited than anywhere else but he's still dang good outside of limited, and now with the Reliquary Tower reprint his Ultimate might actually be worth using even without them having < 20 cards in deck left

Say what you want about him in constructed, but he's an absolute bomb in limited, especially since decks are only 40 cards each. I lost first prize at the pre-release to this guy.

How is this rated so low? He is so awesome for mill decks! Pair him with a Bloodchief Ascension for an automatic win.

This loses to Tamiyo, the Moon Sage's emblem.

There isn't much Jace can do when that happens. =/

Awesome planeswalker for any deck that needs stuff in their graveyard! card advantage AND mill with his plus ability. RAD.

I'm speaking, of course, from an Elder Dragon Highlander players perspective.

@DarkShinobi93

Not really from a mill standpoint; you just want them to try and draw without any cards in the library, you don't really care where the cards ended up. In fact having cards in hand is fine and dandy because you can bet good money they won't be cheating much of anything into play seeing as the vast majority of that happens with the graveyard... which Tamiyo stops. So keep some counters on hand.

You could always use his second ability on yourself to combo with Runechanter's Pike.

i think a lot of people under estimate this card. yah its not jace the mind sculpter, but what is. his focus is in mill decks, but I've won many games just by using his 0 over and over.

This card has 3 1/2 stars, yet Omniscience has almost 5? How did that even happen? Nice of you all to tell Wizards that it's OK to keep doing what they're doing.

The "Everyone draws 20 cards" is probably worse to play in EDH, because that gives them all so many choices. Not only that, but most people I know play at least 1 "infinite hand size" card, like Reliquary Tower.

Even in EDH, I think people would rather just mill 10, most of the time when it's themselves (Why, hello there Mimeoplasm. How're you doin'?)
Yozuk
★★★☆☆ (3.8/5.0) (2 votes)
@Ferlord

Its not "Each play draws 20 cards" Its "Any number of target players each draw twenty cards." Which means you can be the only one to draw cards. If you desire. But if someone would die if they have 20 or fewer cards in their deck why not make them draw 20 as well?

this loses to tamiyo? they arent meant to go against each other.. she gets her emblem and he makes you draw 10 for no loyalty change or draw 2 with a +1 to loyalty.

The verbiage of his ultimate is grammatically incorrect. Subject-verb agreement dictates the verb should actually be "draws."

I loved this card when it first came out and it makes me happy that (at least currently) it's more pricy than Jace Architect of Thought. This jace just blatantly wins games for mill decks, especially with duskmantle guild mage, while architect is just kind of mildly annoying.

Hoo boy. There is no reason aside from hate-voting for this to be below 4.25. This guy will win you games like crazy. A Glimpse the Unthinkable every turn is awesome, and the "draw 20" is great as a mill finisher and in conjunction with Omniscience. 5/5

Dedicated mill decks will always be casual in my opinion. But he is good for the +1 and the ultimate, and the 0 ability can come in handy.

Using him as a "0 hero" might be okay. But mill is not really doing anything until you win. It could disrupt tutors or top deck manipulation, or even disrupt a heavy card draw deck. But other then those situations, its not really impacting the game.

Still I will use him as a "0 hero" If I got an okay board position and a handful of cards. Otherwise take the card advantage. Still a nice alternative win condition.

As for his ultimate, if you can't win the game after drawing 20 cards for "free", your not playing magic correctly. Even if you have to discard down to 7, you still should win the game. But theirs no need to discard with the reprint of the tower. Also, if my opponent is close to 30 cards left, I have won the game plenty of times by letting them draw 20 and then dropping another Jace.

First off, the idea is to get rid of the cards from the library... period. Because the cards go to the players hand doesn't mean it's not doing its job. So, basically you lose at life instead. Think better then how you're thinking now.
Instead of being a dies-to-doom-blade-tard with your pessimism, maybe think about how you could combo the 2 planeswalkers together and use Tamiyo's ultimate to get yourself to draw 10 cards.

Well....it's a Jace. It's a reprint of this -particular- Jace, even. Little to be said that isn't pretty obvious, we have gotten good at judging Jaces because we've had a lot of practice at it.

I said it on Architect of Thought, I'll say it here again:

Hood Down: Looks like Twilight.

Hood Up: Looks like a Sith Lord.

WOTC, this is not that difficult. -____-

I once managed to pull off a murderous combo I hadn't even planned with this Jace, a Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind general, and a Consecrated Sphinx. I laid the sphinx, used Jace's -7, and let myself and another guy draw 20. I got to draw 60 cards and let Niv roast the other two players for gratuitous general damagey goodness.

Not a combo I'd plan for willingly unless I was sure I could get all 3 cards out and useable. Still, this Jace is great for any Firemind deck for the fact that his +1 triggers your general, and his -7 unleashes him.

Does not deserve this low a rating. Control decks lack win conditions and this Jace not only gives you a very good one but it will also draw you the cards you need to stabilise to the point where you can just win with it! I would go as far as saying it's better than Tap in a dedicated control deck.

This is really the greatest mill card of all. Need cards? Add a loyalty counter and get a bit of milling done. Don't need to draw? Have a free Glimpse the Unthinkable. Opponent has <20 cards in his/her library? Force the poor guy to draw twenty, and you have one less person to worry about, while causing the rest of the players to greatly deplete their libraries. This guy makes mill usable in multiplayer.
