No, seriously. Killing wave. Doubles the life swing cost, and helps you recoup your own suffering.

Johnny card. Probably fine in Sealed, but not sure in draft. Certainly terrible in Constructed. Will get you killed in EDH.

That's cool,
This seems like a card that would work well in my Sanguine Bond deck. That'll sure do a lot of damage my opponents! Maybe I could run these two with another card for a killer combo...... hmm.... idk...... rain of gore or something.
for all those who think theyre cool and noticed sanguine bond, go ahead. create an unstoppable loop. and draw the game out. your so smart XD

@Hand_Bannana & NicodemusCromwell Loops only cause a draw if there's no way for them to end. A mandatory loop that will somehow break itself eventually will play out for however many steps that takes. In this case it breaks itself by causing your opponent to loose the game. If you have more than one opponent the loop will kill all of them, because Sanguine Bond has you pick a target opponent each time it's triggered.
The only way it would cause an infinite loop is if your opponent has some way of surviving unlimited life loss. Such as Phyrexian Unlife.

I got this to go off with Sanguine Bond in a MP game. I had a bunch of Sorin Lifelink 1/1 Vampire tokens.
So cheeky.

FirstPrime you seem very close minded. You wont play with people who use combo decks? Some combo's I can see. But this plus the Sanguine Bond? That's 2 five mana enchantments that can be wrecked by 2 mana instants. You act like once they drop either enchantment everyone in the world just lost. In truth the combo is weak unless your whole deck supports it. And even then it can be broken. This combo is the same as attacking with 200+ combined power and trample. But that decks, okay right? Cuz creatures can die, enchantments can't.

Its everything i have waited and hoped for- truly, it is the zenith win-condition i have hoped for with such immaculate synergy with that of Sanguine Blood to include in my Orzhov deck, a flavorful combination to say the very least.
Well done Wizards; Sometimes, we, as a community give you quite a bit of crap, and i myself am far from innocent- yet then you come along and surprise us with the good fortune of fun cards like these, and you manage to convince us to stick around till the next set ruins our fun with Titans and Jaces...
*sigh* Just... eww, Is all I can say. Am I the only one who doesn't want to see any more vampires for a while?

How is this rated below Abundant Growth?! Anything this good needs to be at least 1 star better than it shows. Are you people that stupid? A single combo makes someone lose, big deal. Most likely, this would be a turn six combo. A lot of combos kill faster than that. Get the hell over it, get back to playing, get back to posting. Next time think before you post a narrow minded and quite honestly dumb@$$ opinion about a awesome card.
I know everyone is talking about this, and thinking it's all good and all...
But allow me to do something completely unpredictable: compare it to Angel's Mercy
Let's look at it: Exquisite Blood allows you to gain life whenever your opponent loses like. If they were playing a deck without any life gain, that's 20 life in the end! Amazing!
Well... not so much. First, you have to deal the damage. Ok, that's usually not a problem.
But the main problem is that Exquisite Blood is a 5 CMC enchantment that you need to wait to gain life, while Angel's Mercy is a 4 CMC instant that just gains you 7 life immediately. If you were to get up to Angel's Mercy's level, you'd need to deal 7 damage without Exquisite Blood getting destroyed.
I understand that once you've gained 7 life, you've dealt 7 damage, but that's not Exquisite Blood's effect: all it simply does is gain you life.
All I see here is a slow life-gain card for singleplayer. Play it in Multiplayer, and maybe you'll benefit a little bit better.

This card is better in limited than people are giving it credit for. I've been running black pretty heavy in my last few drafts as it has been woefully untouched by most of the other players and it has been a huge boon for me. People (in my area, anyway) just seem to neglect anti-enchantment spells meaning this thing can stay on the table for quite a while and in a primarily black deck it isn't hard to maintain enough of a card advantage to slip this out on turn 5 or 6 without giving up much to your opponent.
I think the price is fair and it can be a powerful, sometimes even demoralizing, card in the right deck. It's a solid 4/5

There is a mini-burn combo with Stuffy doll here in Monoblack decks.
First, play the doll and declare the opponent. Play this, then play Death Wind on your stuffy doll. What was ordinarily intended to be a black creature removal, has now become a black burn spell =)

@MechaKraken: That won't work. Creatures having their power/toughness reduced by an effect giving -X/-X or -1/-1 counters is not the same as damage.

@MechaKraken if you cast Death Wind on your Stuffy Doll, it doesn't Burn your opponent, it kills your stuffy doll... indestructable creatures die from having 0 or less toughness, Death wind doesnt deal damage, it reduces P/T by X... besides if you have Sanguine Bond, and Exquisite Blood on the field, ANY burn spell kills ALL of your opponents... trigger, trigger, trigger, etc...

Really? No one has mentioned how awesome the art is? The piercing eyes - the soft flesh, punctured and leaking its juices like a soft fruit . . . Beautiful; in a morbid way, I realize.
This was a decent, albeit situational card when AVR was first released. Then, along came Extort...

This, as well as the previously mentioned combo with Vizkopa Guildmage, is a great card to pair with a Chalice of Death. Having this enchantment out works great with Orzhov, with the shock lands in play (Gives them the choice of making you gain life when they bring it out untapped), and with great lifegain cards in Standard.

5/5.
And with Sanguine Bond, Turn your Hornet Sting into a flipped table
EDIT: I actually realized this is incredible with Griselbrand. Deal 7 damage, gain 14 life, then pay all that to essentially draw 14 cards free.
4/5
