I like to think this card was printed for 1.5 Legacy. That makes me happy.

I think I just found my new General for EDH Pauper...... how can you go wrong when a Brainstorm also acts just like a Giant Growth. Thanks for printing this card!! I won on turn 5 with this snake at the prerelease.

uhhh... hi id like to cascade... ah darn it took me 4 cards to find a spell to cast.. only +4/+4 =(
this card can grow outta control so fast!

Cenelder, I'm pretty new to MTG but this card says +1/+1 whenever you draw a card. Cascade says "remove cards from the top of your library from the game..." So I'm thinking you won't get the +4/+4 when cascading since you aren't really drawing. Is this correct or not?

This card made the set for me, since it's incredibly useful on its own, and good too see anytime in the game, if it was rare, it'd be case. combos with compulsion

Great card, and an amazing synergy with cards like Brainstorm.

doesn't work with cascade, because cascade is "remove cards from the top of your library from the game", not draw cards

It seems like the best combo cards with this guy are all in extended; Shielding Plax, Brainstorm, Harmonize, etc. Hmmm... makes me wonder if this card was intentionaly built for extended rather then standard.

Get this card down on turn three and some how on turn four give shroud permanently and just let it grow out of control. I personally like to protect it with Shielding Plax, and i get to draw a card... another +1/+1. I love this card. Things like Elvish Visionary, Wistful Selkie, Snakeform, Shielding Plax, Cold-Eyed Selkie, and anything that makes draw a card or cards is really good with Lorescale Coatl in play, and even Favor Of The Overbeing.

this is a 4 of in my deck and any legacy player will tell you that it has to die, like right away. If i get a turn with the snake unmolested, i'll be using brainstorm or thirst for knowledge to make it a beast, not to mention ice on a blocker... yeah this card is insane. lorescale coatl > tarmogoyf > quirion dryad.

@rolio
That's right, cascading doesn't draw you any cards. Doing things with the top cards of your library like revealing them, putting them into your hand, putting them into a graveyard, etc. aren't drawing. You only draw a card when the effect uses the word "draw."

This card just makes sense. I like to spike it up with Soul's Majesty.

Lorescale works nicely with jace, thought reflection, and overbeing of myth. If you have a sensei top, you can get an extra card draw from that every turn too, and if you have thought reflection already on the field you can redraw the top with its own ability an infinite number of times and use it for 1 mana. Needs to be enchanted with some kind of anti creature removal though or your going likely to have it killed by doomblade or etc.

Drawing cards gives him +1/+1 counters? Yes please! Shielding Plax is an obvious choice. He also makes Scarscale Ritual awesome, since the -1/-1 counter is negated.

thins thing with mindmoil is insane, it gets a permanent 4 or 5 every turn

I love this in my UG deck though, its amazing with Overbeing of Myth and it finally made my biomantic mastery useful

What a nasty snake! I love it! Of course the obvious Brainstorm is a very good choice, also Curiosity and what about that little Magus of the Library? Nice duo, if you can manage to keep him in play, of course. If you don't fear enchantments removal go for Coastal Piracy. So many combos to do with this creature! I'll do a G/U deck around it for sure.

I play this card in a Simic deck, and boy is it great when you attack with a 12/12 flying trample shroud. :D + then you can untap it!

Cards these days are WAY TOO CHEAP!!! People at Wizards of the Coast have to wake up and realize they are making cards that make no sense, way overpowered and broke
Enchantment_Removal
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
You have somewhat a point, ion1000.

However, this is not an example of an overpowered card. (the autocards link to popular removal spells)

Cards aren't necessarily getting strictly more powerful; the power-level of powerful cards are getting to be more obvious so that more people are able to properly evaluate cards. I'll name two good cards: Umezawa's Jitte and Jace, teh Mind Sculpter.

For which one of the two is it easier to explain why it's broken? They're both good, but it's more obvious for Jace. If they wanted to make this Coatl overpowered, it would've costed only GreenBlue.

Amazing card, he is useful in lots of ways and plays well with so many other cards and those are always the two standards I rate cards by. Built a whole deck around him.

the thing that makes this beater amazing isnt that it gets bigger then goyf with a single brainstorm, it is that you can play both in the same deck with counter top and a hand full of counters

I fancy cards that "grow". My personal favorite is Steel Overseer, which allows your other guys to grow with him. Similars include the classic Chlorophant, and the more recent Taurean Mauler. And now there's that previewed (for M12) Hydra that doubles each turn. Nuts!

Thank you Wizards. 4.5/5

EDIT

Also, Jace, Memory Adept.

My favorite moment in the entire game has to be having this card in play, and seeing Shielding Plax resolve. Then, it's time to draw half my deck and swing for 30+ points... Hands down this is my single favorite card in the game.

Oh, and Psychosis Crawler loves to fight by his side. Every card you draw becomes twice as effective.

this guy kicks so much butt. at worst, he gets pumped by one every turn. when you play him with card draw spells (as well you should) he will be insane in no time. slap on a favor of the overbeing for an even bigger a$$ raping

Obviously one of the best cards I can gather to use with the new Zameck Guildmage.
But you all probably knew that already. I want to mess around with Zameck and Primordial Hydra to be bad, but I have NO idea how I forgot about this bad boy. Much better than the hydra for stupid card drawing synergy, but the hydra gets way more power out of the combo.

Wow.. I've started casually using this with Fathom Mage and Prime Speaker Zegana. With a few cards to give counters to fathom mage, this doesn't take long to get out of hand...

Okay. I do not know why the link for Arcanis, the Omnipotent is going to the wrong card. That's stupid. Anyways, you tap him, and draw three cards. You don't even have to pay any mana. He makes Lorescale Coatl a beast in my Green/Blue.

Fathom mage says may draw a card. So you you wouldn't have to deck yourself.

The card Take//Give is pretty funny because it now just becomes free cards. Also, obvious synergy with Prime Speaker Zegana. It's just so stinkin' perfect with all the Ravinica simic cards it hurts. Spell Rupture, anyone?

I play it in a Vorel of the Hull Clade Commander Deck. This card can quickly become a huge threat, even if Vorel gets removed. Furthermore, Hunter's Insight when he's at 5/5 or something is great.

Okay, so I'm aware that there are plenty of other ways to win with Enter the Infinite, but having 13 mana and spending the last one on an Artful Dodge or something is kind of hilarious.

This + Prime Speaker Zegana + Triumph of Ferocity
This + Ideas Unbound
This + Fathom Mage (My bad, Fathom Mage + this)
Instant 5/5 He's my No. 1 attacker. Even takes out Eldrazi after Zegana hits the field. Once of the best blue/green attackers out there imo. He lacks flying, but if you have good synergy with your cards you can bolster your attacks to go with him and win whether he makes it or not. Either they'll put everything on him or you can chip away with other cards for massive damage -at least the way my deck works. Love this card. Wizards couldn't have given me much else cooler than this.

Turn 2 This
Turn 3 Flight of Fancy, draw 2, pump it to a 5/5 flying and swing.

Lorescale Coatl gets hilariously huge really quickly. Get shroud or hexproof on it and it will probably win the game for you at some point. The best is Canopy Cover since he gets a bit evasive, too, but I think I prefer Diplomatic Immunity. "Yup. That's Ambassador Snake, so leave him be." Wouldn't want to sabotage trade relations with the proud nation of Holeintheground. 5/5

Just built a Simic deck with this. It fits in so well. Master biomancer into prime speaker zegana gets pretty dumb, especially after a rancor (becomes draw 9 minimum). Add Sage of fables for turning counters into more draws (which also add counters to this guy, how convenient!). Its amazing how many of the good Simic cards are wizards (looking at you, Fathom mage and prophet of kruphix, among the others already stated).

Sometimes it can be hard to turn raw card advantage into a winnable position immediately, but this guy does it. You don't even have to pay any mana after dropping him turn 2. Even if your draw engines can't get moving, he gets a counter every turn just for your normal draw. My only complaint about the deck right now is how confusing it can be to play, stacking counters and draws and whatnot.
