Ah, well, close enough, I guess. Enchanting an equipment with this means a lot of the time it won't be equipped.

I'm really excited for this card. I miss when black had the ability to "curse" artifacts and make their controller suffer, and at one mana, this is amazing! This will be a perfect way to hose equipments that give shroud like whispersilk cloak or lightning greaves. Mwhahaha.
This is...different to say the least. I like it! Black usually doesn't get responses to artifacts, so this is pretty refreshing.

Most of this time this will serve a one mana edict effect as long as the equipment is equipped to something. Your opponent gets one turn to equip it to their worst creature and in most cases won't have a way to get rid of it. The artifact will still have some value, but will be essentially shut down. Very underrated.

Look at all the people here who don't understand what this card does! If the enchanted equipment attaches itself to a creature, that creature is destroyed. It doesn't at all interact with the equipment...

Hey, our favorite comic book hero/thief person's in the flavor text. As for the card, kind of neat.

One of few ways to deal with an equipped Geist of Saint Traft or Sigarda.

With my luck I'd play this and my opponent would be playing with Darksteel Plate.

This thing is ridiculous. One mana to basicaly make an equipment a non-option. Also great against things that give evasion or protection.
Throw it on lightning greaves and let them decide whether they want to attack first turn or every other turn.

Not bad out of the sideboard in limited but won't see play anywhere else. Even in limited it's very rarely going to hit the board: there are only three equipment cards in M14 and none of them are common. Good answer to Fireshrieker though.

Cute, certainly flavorful, possibly powerful in the right situation, but often useless. It's also unfortunate that the equipped creature will get a chance to attack you first before getting destroyed. It will be fun in commander and a passable sideboard effect in limited, but usually bad everywhere else.

Weird design, but kind of cool. It's especially useful for enchanting the equipment as soon as it hits the board.

Could work well with Simic Guildmage against decks with a lot of equipment.

Magnetic Theft attaching the hexed equipment to an opposing creature? Sounds like fun.

I am not sure whether this over-hoses Equipment in Standard or not.
I'll say this though: Jitte demands answers. This might be not-so-obviously intended for Legacy? Not to mention Swords? It's a bit to consider.
I'm very happy they are finding more interesting things to do for Black. :) I think over the past two years they've really done a lot to improve the overall Design space of "Curses". Some cards that are supposed to 'curse' other cards fail at their job. I don't expect THIS one will fail, though! :D

Not bad for the fact that black has a hard time dealing with equipments, this helps to shut down equipping issues like Tokens where you can't really spare that many kill cards.

The card is cute and flavorful but powerwise atrocious.
If your opponent has no equipment, it's a dead card. If your opponent has no equipment he cares about, it's also a dead card. If your opponent has equipment he cares about, but also creatures he doesn't mind dying (solemn simulacrum like creature, or festering newt, or creatures with a pacifism on them that he wants in his graveyard so he can reanimate them), this rather helps your opponent. It also let's your opponent trigger "dies" effects, like on gravepact. And it's very slow to boot.
In short. It's narrow, slow, sometimes does nothing and sometimes even helps your opponent. No thanks.

So i found a very limited combo that helped me win a game. Had Kalonian Hydra with mark of the vampire on it. Fire Shrieker on the field. I enchanted it, and I think the guy didn't realize I missed the wording about my upkeep. He attached and swung with an empty field, 10/10 with Double strike. I fogged. He played another creaturebut didnt have the mana to move the artifact. Lost the Hydra. Couldn't afford to use the equipment again.
But in seven rounds, only time it did more than shut off double strike.

This card is one the only ways to actually interact with etched champion, since it kills it despite protection.

I would rate it better if the creature died on its controller's upkeep. as it stands it's only going to be useful to discourage equipping the item unless your opponent can't get another creature out there to pass the equipment onto. might be more useful against voltron EDH decks like Zur where he is practically the only creature in the deck.
Amazing synergy with Avacyn's Collar and a human generator like Thraben Doomsayer. Gives you a free 1/1 flyer and whatever morbid effects you could ask for.
This is a fantastic design as a weapon against hexproof.

It's a one mana one-for-one that if played right is usually a two-for-one.
You kill the creature its equipped to, and the render the equipment effectively useless. If they remove the enchantment, they will have still lost two cards for your one.

This is a very overrated card. It's nigh-useless in draft, since the only three pieces of Equipment in the set are Accorder's Shield, Fireshrieker, and Haunted Plate Mail - two uncommons and a rare. I've seen people draft it, thinking it attaches to creatures and kills them when they become equipped. All in all, a complete miss, rules-wise and functionally.
I suppose it would have some use in a future set with large Equipment counts. But even then, it doesn't stop the Equipment - they can still play a creature, equip it, and swing for higher damage. Artificer's Hex just makes it a little riskier.

Houndhucker has a point, there aren't many pieces of Equipment you could hose with this in the M14 set, but remember that each card exists in many formats simultaneously, and this is no exception.
Black is traditionally very bad at removing artifacts and enchantments, and seeing a card like this that allows Black to creatively get around that weakness... well that's just wonderful.
I'd love to see some Black or Red cards that punish a player for using enchantments. Maybe the Theros block will cover this somehow?
I'd hate to see those two colours suffer all next block just because the theme uses a permanent they're not good at dealing with.

1st: Enchant your own equipment. 2nd: Creatively attach it to your opponents creatures. 3rd: Enjoy the look on your opponents face everytime.
P.S: Cards like Act of Treason and Magnetic Theft are ways to do this.
Too bad you can't equip your things to your opponent's creatures.
Otherwise basically just destroys an equipment. Less versatile and less speedy than shatter, but then again black has almost no options for killing artifacts, so it's nice to see some flavorful ways in which black can beat the restrictions of its piece of the color pie.
An answer to hex proof artifacts for black decks, made my day to use it against the wife's whispersilked hydra.

I find this useful in EDH for dealing with Hexproof commanders/ ones wearing Lightning Greaves and that ilk. I haven't found too many uses for it in standard or draft, however.
