the best way I used this card was to block Hamletback Goliath with a 1/1 ... one of those moments you always remember.

why the hell is this rated so low? think about this, move all counters from you'r opponents apocalypse hydra onto one of your creatures. or move age counters from one of your guys onto one of your opponent's.
the possibilities are endless

Great card. Cheap and instant. I tend to use it to:

1) Move +1/+1 counters from one of my creatures to another, when it's about to die.
2) Remove counters from my opponent's creatures just to screw with them.

If you have a card such as Protean Hydra: hypathetically speaking, if protean hydra has a natural 1/1 base without the tokens; ie it wouldn't die from the removal of all its tokens(like if it was being affected by a Murkfiend Liege or a Glorious Anthem, for example; anything non-+1/+1 counter). Would using this card to move all of the tokens from it on to another creature mean that its third effect would kick in at the end of the turn?
Or would it not? This card says "move" in its text while the hydra's effect uses the term "remove".

PLEASE! Someone with a sense of the vocabluary please let me know!

Thinking levelers. Imagine your opponent invests all his time and mana on a leveler and you steal all those counters for your own leveler

This card has so many possibilities! Everyone already has summed it up except for one thing! -1/-1 counters. All creatures that come into play with -1/-1 counters like the hatchlings can go from a 2/2 on turn 4 to a 6/6 on turn 5. And in the process of removing the four of the counters you can wipe out almost any creature on the opponents side! Also works well with pretty much any creature with -1/-1 counters.

@type: Yes! Good combo, as long as the hydra has something to give it extra toughness.

Better still, put it on a stick and do it every turn.

If only this could target suspended cards as well. Would fit so nicely in my vanishing suspend deck.

Thought of a combo for this card. Enchant Dark Depths with Wind Zendikon to make it a creature, then cast this to move the tokens to something that can use them.

EDIT: Never mind. This morning I learned to read. This doesn't work on anything but creatures.

Since so many decks where I play use Mycoloth, this spell will save my bacon.

Use on Phylactery Lich after he gives an artifact the phylactery counter.

@getz19
That doesn't do anything, as this card targets a creature.
Not to mention that moving the counter from one artifact to another may not always save you in the end.

I just gave this card a 5/5 to balance for those who voted way too low. This way noobs wont think it as an average card when they come across it on this site.

@infernox10,

getz19 idea could work if the phylactery counter was initially on an artifact creature to begin with, say Glassdust Hulk

The problem with stealing counters is that you need to put it in your deck assuming they'll be playing with counters to steal. That's just too situational.

However, the possibilities are endless when it comes to ways to abuse this with your own creatures.

Phyrexian Hydra comes to mind.
Run it into a few chump blockers, then when it's got 5 or 6 counters on it, spring this for a quick recharge and nail one of their fatties at the same time.

this card is fantastic in the right deck. as cleavage said, it works wonders with -1/-1 counters. got your kitchen finks back with persist? move that -1/-1 counter onto an opponents 1/1. kill it and get another round of persist for your own creature. or, play noxious hatchling then move all 4 counters to an already worn down dusk urchins to draw 5 or 6 cards OR move those 4 -1/-1 counters onto your grim poppet. tons of possibilities

@f_firefiftyseven: Iceberg is a great target for the Dark Depths/Wind Zendikon combo alongside this card. Not only is it expansion-appropriate for Dark Depths, it nets you 10 colorless mana and a 20/20 Flying Indestructible Avatar for {1}{U}. A bit hard to pull off with any level of reliability, but then again most Johnny-tacular combos are.

PLAYER: It seems my Phylactery Lich wants his phylactery counter back.

ORNITHOPTER: Don't worry; I'm sure I can get it to him before that Doom Blade resolves and kills me.

Gideon turns into a creature!....... and suddenly you just have a very loyal Storm Crow.

Good for levelers. Level up something with a cheap leveling cost, and then transfer it to something that takes a lot of mana to level. Also, if a creature with level counter is about to die, you can save the counters by transferring them to another leveler creature.

Kills Gideon Jura while he is in creature mode. Fate Transfer doesn't care about the type of counters, and since he is still a planeswalker he still dies when he has 0 loyalty counters.

I have a question about using this with RTR's new Corpsejack Menace. If the Menace is out and I use Fate Transfer to move however many counters from creature A onto creature B, does creature B get twice that many counters because they're being placed on it? Or does "moving" the counters not count as "placing" the counters (even though they are being placed on creature B)?

@Goatllama: who NEEDS Gideon anyways when you can have a LOYAL MOTHERF***ING STORM CROW?

@mighty_gorgonzola: From bioshift's ruling:
"To move a counter from one creature to another, the counter is removed from the first creature and placed on the second. Any abilities that care about a counter being removed or placed on a creature will apply", so yes, Corpsejack Menace would work. Also, this can put Age counters onto Old Man of the Sea. 5/5 for that alone.

Amusingly enough, you can use this with some Homarids and break their tide sequence. It won't help or anything, but it's vaguely amusing.

Use this on Gideon Jura while he is still a 6/6 creature to steal all his loyalty away.
