This card is similar to Night's Whisper and Skulltap, however the hybrid colors add flexibility, and a -1/-1 counter is probably less of a blow than 2 life or sacing a creature.

I always wanted to make a deck that would abuse the drawback of this card. I'd maybe appreciate it more if it was instant and put 2 counters. Still a neat card, with interesting idea and artwork.

So, with Melira, does it put no counters on or can you just not cast this?

@ilovealara - how is this strictly worse than Skulltap? If anything it is better in most situations unless you want to bin a creature of yours.

This is going to be so good with the new Undying creatures. A third comeback and two more draws? Why, thank you!

This was already an okay card in a block with Persist creatures.
You could also make use of the additional cost with Quillspike or Dusk Urchins.

Turning this drawback into an advantage now got even easier with Undying.

@Tommy9898
The -1/-1 is part of the cost so Melira doesn't let you cast this card.

Oh and strictly better than Skulltap

Use with undying. Remove the +1/+1 counter, draw two cards, and make them kill your creature two more times.

This card is so good. Two cards for two mana? So what if you have to place a -1/-1 on your creature? You can put the counter on a creature you don't care about or even put it on one that does things with -1/-1 counters. This card is just awesome.

This will fit nicely with Gravecrawler and Geralf's Messanger

Use the -1/-1 to bump off your Skullclamp monkey and net 4 cards.

@Ilovealara: Once again "strictly better" is thrown around. Not strictly better than skulltap. There are cards that benifit from sacrifice. For example mortician beetle, or even abyssal persecutor (after killing opponents). So although in many scenarios this would be better, it is not "strictly better."

I use this in my Ninja deck. Who cares if the creature gets smaller if it's just going to return to my hand anyway?
