Best combo ever: Stuffy Doll + Guilty Conscience = Win with infinite damage! See, with the guilt on the doll, whenever the doll pings itself, the guilt pings the doll, which then repeats itself for infinity. I lost to my friend SO many times with that combo!

There a lot of combos that can be made with this creature. Only if you could put an Enchantment to make it be able block all the creatures.

Redeemer707
★☆☆☆☆ (1.2/5.0) (11 votes)
@godmetal101 + Mrredhatter

That combo will only do 2 dmg.
Example: Tap Stuffy Doll to deal 1 damage to itself. Guilty conscience is added to the stack and deals 1 dmg (the amount dealt by the doll) to the doll. Since guilty conscience is the actual source of damage, this doesn't create an infinite chain, but rather stops at 2 damage because the enchantment requires the actual creature to deal the damage (not the enchantment)

Stuffy Doll plus Shivan Meteor with a Furnace of Rath in play. Damage is doubled as it goes to Stuffy and doubled from Stuffy as it goes to your opponent.

Picture a Furnace of Rath with a Guilty Conscience. The more life your opponent has, the more into the negatives they could go, so long as they have exactly three less than a power of two. Say they have... 13. Damage goes to the Stuffy Doll, gets doubled, and sent off to your opponent at 4, goes back to the doll, which doubles to 8, so they've taken 12 so far, and they're at 1. Goes back to the stuffy and back to your opponent for 16, bringing them to -15. If they start at 29, they'll get to -31. And if they start at 253, they'll get to -255. I'd like to see the guy that gets himself to over 1000 life get brought to his knees using that combo. Especially if its the online version, so you can see all the effects stacking.

@ Redeemer707: You're forgetting that the doll does one damage to the other player after it's done one to itself, which triggers guilty conscience for two, which makes the doll do two to the other player, which triggers guilty conscience for two...

So I bought this doll, but it's kinda weird. It keeps stabbing itself at night and whenever it does, my friend randomly feels a bit of pain at exactly the same time it stabs itself. I want to put it out of its misery, so maybe i'll Shivan Meteor it. After all, it's only 1 toughness, so 13 damage should be do the trick... By the way, if any of you watch Naruto, this creature reminds me of the Akatsuki member called Hidan. Also, whenever I teach beginners about chump blocking, they say it's pointless cause you're losing creatures, and you might as well take damage now and save up enough creatures to chump block and kill the opposing creature. Then, I say Stuffy Doll.

So this is super confusing. Heres how it works without becoming a draw.
This may not be the EXACT way (not sure, havent checked), but its good enough for understanding what kind of thing is going on.

Stuffy assigns 1 dmg to itself
Resolves
Stuffy's ability procs and it assigns 1 dmg to previously designated player
Resolves
GC procs and assigns a dmg to Stuffy
Resolves
Repeat steps 3 through 6.

Therefore, although it does repeat infinitely, the assigned player dies before then.
Thus in a multiplayer game, 1 person loses, and the rest draw.

man i hate losing to this card, it is insane,

psyklone

i believe you wouldnt draw in a multiplayer game, the loop would repeat untill the player you chose is dead, then they wouldnt exist and stuffy dolls damage would fizzle so it wouldnt trigger any other effects (pariah etc)

Stuffy Doll and Guilty Conscience can't create a draw situation. After each triggered effect a player receives priority, during this time all state based effects are checked. If a player has 0 or less life he or she loses. Then Stuffy Doll would deal no damage to the chosen player since that player would be gone, and Guilty Conscience wouldn't trigger again. All you would have left is an indestructible 0/1 to block with. Still nasty if you think about it.

I was plenty happy to use this card with Fatal Attraction and I won more than a few casual games with it. Now, however, I have a new appreciation for this guy and will be using it in a Suicide Black deck.

Dead Reckoning makes this guy even more insane. With Death's Shadow in your graveyard and Stuffy in play, cast Dead Reckoning and target Stuffy. 13 points to your oponent's grill for 3CC.

Throw a few copies of Rite of Consumption in there with some big black creatures like Abyssal Persecutor or any of the big nasty demons and you have an evil and effective mono black deck.
Enferno33
★★★☆☆ (3.8/5.0) (4 votes)
I agree with Wyldblayde. Once a player reaches 0 life, he or she dies. Therefore, you can no longer deal damage to that player and that would cause the Stuffy Doll + Guilty Conscience combo to end. It would not create a "draw" in a multiplayer game.

@Redeemer707
It's very easy to misunderstand a card in MTG. The way you see it is that being the "pinger dmg" on Stuffy Doll starts the damage sequence it triggers Guilty Conscience and ends the damage cycle at 2. However, you failed to read the Stuffy Doll text when it states that ANY damage done to Stuffy Doll deals that much damage to the chosen player, therefore causing the damage to the player from the Stuffy Doll to trigger the Guilty Conscience damage back to Stuffy Doll then back to the player over and over.

@Pantheon
Dead Reckoning makes this guy even more insane. With Death's Shadow in your graveyard and Stuffy in play, cast Dead Reckoning and target Stuffy. 13 points to your oponent's grill for 3CC.

That is a nice combo indeed, however it's directed to the target creature, not player :(

actually, when the guildty consience does the damage back to stuffy doll, stuffy doll is dishing out it's own damage to the player due to his own ability. this triggers guilty consience to go off again. wash, rinse, repeat.
@applecorn
ragged veins wouldn't work because it causes you to lose life, and pariah only triggers on damage. they aren't the same.
@enferno33
the combo that pantheon mentioned does work perfectly well. this is the stuffy doll discussion page, correct? you're obviously ignoring stuffy doll's place in that combo. you dead reckoning, you raise your deaths shadow, you deal damage to STUFFY DOLL which in turn directs it to the player.

I like that Stuffy Doll can turn spot removal cards into a burn combo deck.

The first time I built a Stuffy Doll deck I did the Shivan Meteor and Skred thing; dropping an occasional Flametongue Kavu as opportunity permitted.

I built a new Stuffy Doll deck recently. This time I've combined it with Chain Lightning, Chain of Plasma and Pyrohemia.

A few weeks ago a friend borrowing an extremely casual deck I built attacked me with Stuffy Doll which he then targeted with two Deserts.

This is killer! It can attack and block, and indestructible means it can block tramplers with any power. You can force your opponent to attack with his 15/15 using your one mana Incite or make him block with his twenty tokens (Lure, Nemesis Mask).
You can put Pariah or pariah's shield on it (what about multiple pariah's? does that do anything?)

Stuffy Doll + Pariah or Pariah's Shield + Incite

If you use pariah and one of those red things that double damage, it get's brutal. Let's say you get hit by a 4/4 creature. Stuffy doll takes 4 damage, but times two means 8 damage. It deals that much damage TIMES TWO to the enemy. Boom, 16 damage. Double damage doubles itself twice. That's FOUR times the damage.

Even nastier, if in addition to doubling the damage you give an enemy creature double strike (something like Sunhome, fortress of the legion) , force it to attack with Incite and your enemy will take damage equal to the creature's power times EIGHT.
Speaking of which, you can do this:
+Give enemy creature(s) +X/+X
+Give enemy creature(s) double strike
+Lifelink stuffy doll
+Guilty conscience makes an infinite loop
etc.

It works good in a giant deck. Thundercloud Shaman, Hammerfist Giant for instance, and it's unaffected by the Desolation Giant. Crush Underfoot always makes me chuckle. Seeing my opponent squirm as a giant crushes the tiny voodoo doll with his filthy one-thousand-pound foot.

You have to be crazy to not give this card a 5/5

Play Pariah on Stuffy Doll, Donate Pariah to opponent. Use Stuffy Doll's tap effect.

1 damage goes to opponent as per Stuffy Doll's third effect.
1 damage goes to Stuffy Doll as per Pariah, which your opponent now controls.
1 damage given to Stuffy Doll from Pariah goes back to that opponents.

Repeat steps 2 and 3 ad nauseam.

Technically it creates an infinite loop and the game draws unless someone can break the loop (Naturalize Pariah, etc) but some buddies decided that Stuffy Doll is now CHARGING HIS LAZAR. We put a d20 on Stuffy Doll/Pariah to know how much damage was bouncing back and forth between those two cards, and increased that die for each additional damage that was bouncing around in limbo.

It was decided that, as soon as either Pariah or Stuffy Doll was removed from the battlefield, Stuffy Doll FIRED HIS LAZAR "BWAAAAAAAA!!!" and the correct player would take damage equal to the number showing on that die.

Remember playing for fun?

@ the dude above me... I never said it was all on the same stack. Resolves the donate, THEN tap Stuffy Doll. EASY PEASY

Here's a new idea, give stuffy infect and use cheap burn spells to knock an opponent out twice as fast. just don't have stuffy ping itself.

Speaking of an infected stuffy pinging itself, would it just get the neg counter or would the infect damage still go through to the opposing player seeing as infect says damage is done to creatures as neg counters.

@ Badassfreakinoverlor: Stuffy doll does not prevent or redirect damage dealt to it, it only "copies" the amount of damage done to it and sends it to chosen player. It can get neg counters if you give it infect. Cleaver idea though. just pump up it's toughness.

☆☆☆☆☆ (0.5/5.0) (1 vote)
The statement below mine (at this time) is false, a creature with trample has to deal lethal damage (even if it won't kill it) the extra can be spent on the defending player (ie, 4 gets past stuffy, and 1 hits stuffy, since 1 is lethal damage).

Even if damage doesn't kill it, you must assign lethal damage.

From the rules, under 702.18b
"Example: A 6/6 green creature with trample is blocked by a 2/2 creature with protection from green. The attacking creature's controller must assign at least 2 damage to the blocker, even though that damage will be prevented by the blocker's protection ability. The attacking creature's controller can divide the rest of the damage as he or she chooses between the blocking creature and the defending player."

@ Valesk

It would deal two damage, here is why.

When you "deal damage" to a creature, it actually doesn't modify its toughness or interact with its toughness in almost anyway. Toughness is more like a threshold that, if broken, will send the creature to the graveyard (it "dies").

Shock does two damage to it because Shock does two damage (as it says on the card).

The damage done to a creature places damage counters on it, if these counters equal or are greater than the creature's toughness, the creature is destroyed (but this one is indestructible, so it wouldn't).

If toughness was modified by damage, there would be no reason you couldn't kill indestructible creatures with burn spells.

For other creatures, its the same thing (if you are ever wondering). If a card does X damage (3, 9, 38.5) to target creature then it receives that much damage regardless of its toughness.

The Rack, Black Vise, Cursed Rack, Leshrac's Rite, maybe Voodoo Doll

@Signok79
The doll will redirect 5 damage. Trample would still deal all of it's damage to this since it's indestructible. It wouldn't die from 1 damage so is there for able to block all of the damage and redirect it back.

@Liberal
Stack a Binding Agony with your Pariah and see how far your damage loop lasts.

@Redeemer707
Guilty Conscience deals damage to the creature, not the player. Therefore, the doll strikes the player again triggering the enchantment.

Each Time Spiral card was an homage to at least one previously printed card.

This card references the art work of Richard Thomas from several cards referencing torture. To avoid overly graphic artwork, Thomas substituted the stuffy doll which soon became one of Magic's first in-art in-jokes. The cards which feature Stuffy are The Rack, Black Vise, Cursed Rack, and Leshrac's Rite.
