Seems like it would have made more sense at RedRed that requires you to sacrifice a land. But it is still cool overkill. I love ridiculous cards like this.

I'm all in on red for Innistrad - this might be my favorite card.

Strictly less funny than Shivan Meteor. BUT- also a bit more epic, because of it's darker/serious nature.

What an incredibly epic name, incredibly epic art, and a pretty high mana cost.

I'd run this in Limited, no doubt. I'll nuke your dual or your tribe land and your best creature for 6, thanks.

For when you need Shivan Meteor for all creatures

But Autochthon Wurm still laughs at the puny damage you dish out!

Talk about burying the lead. Although it's *** hilarious this way. When I first read it it was "oh, another stone rain variant that also lets you... shivan meteor roflmao"

The same guy who did the art for this card also did the art for Nyxathid, Dragonmaster Outcast, Banefire, and tons of other epic-looking Black and Red cards. Now that I know this he might just be my favorite.

Even if it were no good, I'd still play it just so I could say its name dramatically when I cast it.

this is pretty much a guaranteed 2-for-1 therefore it could be perceived as a pretty good card. the only problem is that for 4RR you can't really justify using it for LD because by that point in the game LD is rather pointless. therefore, for 4RR you have just destroyed a creature (assuming they aren't indestructible, though to be fair they probably won't be).

i wasn't sure how to fix it. however, JFM2796 had a fine idea of costing it at RR and having you sacrifice a land yourself instead. that would see much more play and is a lot more flavorful, in my opinion, considering the card's name.

I love how 13 damage is basically Wizards' go-to number for hilariously excessive amounts of damage to a creature.

@Eternal_Blue: actually, I like the way land destruction is done now, because you can't make a deck dedicated to it (would be too slow, generally), but the LD cards are quite playable, so you can play them in case of annoying land. Result: you have to think more about your land-destruction cards you run in your deck, and there isn't a degenerate dack archetype that make everybody cry. I sometimes like a LD deck in casual, to play only a couple of games and nothing more, but I think that LD decks are the worst kind of deck because you can't recover at all. Counter and discard decks are fair in comparison, in that you can almost always have the faculty of cast your spells, but with Land Destrucion you can't even do it...

I like this card a lot, card advantage in red form! I like it!

Compared to Shivan Meteor, this the land destruction is only 1. Land destruction for 1 is at least a 7/5, right?

The logical conclusion of all Stone Rain variations. A Shivan Meteor falls, the creature and the land explode. Very cool, and very red!

When you're going through Hell, keep going.
-Winston Churchill.

I run 3 of these in a hatebrew. Noone ever expects me to have this; even when I've done it games 1 and 2 already. "Primeval Titan. I search up Kessig Wolf Run and Inkmoth Nexus."

"OK, on your end step I Beast Within your Nexus. In my main phase, I SEND YOUR TITAN AND YOUR WOLF RUN TO HELL.

No, no damage spell can kill an Autochthon Wurm, as far as I know none of them deal over 13 damage. (Except the X-costed spells)

Is there any damage spell that kills Auto wurm? Besides, the art, name, effect and flavor text are so incredible together, this is a major flavor home run.

Speaking of the art, check out the wall paper version sometime, it looks really great at a high resolution.

What a magnificent card. For a seemingly random combination of abilities, this spell delivers a smorgasbord of utility and flavor. Enough damage to make the name appropriate, sure, but more importantly enough to get rid of a monster, or have some fun with Stuffy Doll, all with a Stone Rain built-in for good measure. This isn't the best card ever printed - it's just a cool, fun, fair, twofer of epic proportions.

Prohibitively expensive mana-wise for most competitive decks, but when's the last time you wanted to kill a huge creature and/or a land in EDH in the local game? Exactly.

Stuffy Doll is coming back in M13. Now Standard can have a spell that effectively reads "4RedRed: Destroy target land. Stuffy Doll deals 13 damage to target opponent."

Fun to combo with Ink-Treader Nephlim for practically a board sweeper and a possible one sided Armageddon.

3.5/5 Becuse it is a decent kill spell and land destruction stapled together in a way only wizards can.

Shivan Meteor + Stone Rain = This Card. Stuffy Doll shenanigans aside, this is almost unconditional removal (which is uncommon in red) and a 2 for 1. Also, that name, I want to play this just to send my opponents' creatures into the maw of hell. Total flavor win.

Why does this rate so much higher than Survey the Wreckage?
Kariuko
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
@ vishlord, because you're paying 2 more mana off a Stone Rain just to get a vanilla 1/1...this one actually kills something. But it seems a bit too expensive too and usable just for the pleasure of laying this down for itself. if you're playing a land destruction deck and your opponent is still able to lay down 13/13s on turn 6 then you might be in trouble..

Everyone talks about how this is great removal, and I see why you would think that, but hello? Autochthon Wurm? Worldspine Wurm?
I mean, that's 2 cards out of around 16000 Magic cards in existence, and just off the top of my head.
What's the point?

Ugh, I saw this so many times being used on a player, but I would have felt guilty correcting them, Which in hindsight, I realize is no excuse to pass up on a teaching moment, but still

this is pretty fun, basically says, be rid of a land and a dude for 6 mana, could see fringe play in EDH I guess
