The ability is expensive, but Double Strike is so nasty that you still have to consider it as a decent card. 3/5.

this could provide interesting control.
if you leave this untapped until after you declare attackers, it puts your opponent in a tough spot as he tries to guess which creature is going to get the double strike.

Actually one of the lands with a useful ability.

Only worth it in the late game, and by then most R/W decks will have petered out. Usually there is something better you can do with the 5 mana you will spend on the ability (4 land plus tap). It is a decent manasink, but red/White is too aggressive for this to shine at such a high cost. I will take Fireshrieker any day.

This is a great card that can often catch your opponent by surprise, since in most games it ends up just being used as a mana source. While it doesn't really fit in boros decks that rely on small creatures (which is nearly all competitive boros decks), since most of those creatures don't have colorless mana in their costs and many already have doublestrike, it's still a decent card that can find it's place in more casual formats.
Not a bad choice for Commander, considering that giving your commander doublestrike would probably help end the game pretty quickly.

Definitely a great card in commander. The cost doesn't matter as much and the effect is repeatable.By late game with a RW deck you'll probably be hurting for cards so having powerful activated abilities is nice. Heck you even get a land out of it.

In casual multiplayer, I usually announce the ability when I play this land, and it still catches them offguard when one of my opponents is attacking another and I pull this on their attacker. For bonus points, use Soulbright Flamekin to add trample to the mix.
Its name suggests legendary. Its ability does as well.

I like all my cards to pack abilities, and an ability land that doesn’t come on tapped or cost mana is excellent. Where this card shines is boosting numerous small death touch creatures like Thornweald Archer, and in conjunction with deathtouch/lifelink land Vault of the Archangel.
Deathtouch and First Strike are a wicked combo for cowards like me.
Like Clark Kent jumping into a phone booth and emerging as Superman, this card will sit there quietly for hours, creating mana, and then win the game for you when your one drop Deadly Recluse kills their 8 drop Akroma, Angel of Wrath.
Win condition in an elf rabble deck, as your 6 Deathtouch First Strike 3/3 creatures mow down a board full of Kalonian Behemoths.
