I'm not sure why this card didn't see much play. Fill your deck with snow lands and it's basically a one mana "destroy target creature".

or...to continue what Laguz said, it could be a one mana BOMB to a stuffy doll.
with all snow lands and a few other permanents you could feasibly get 10 damage out of this 1 CMC spell.

Much better than Spitting Earth with a snow manabase. Might even be better than Flame Slash when it really matters.

Or, in an even MORE devious manner, run things like Ragged Veins or Treacherous Link to turn early creatures your opponent puts out into giant bull's-eyes for this and things like Tendrils of Corruption. With Ragged Veins, it can all be done at INSTANT speed, with them not seeing it coming.

... This is the reason why I love my snow-deck. I use this to kill my opponents annoying creatures. Most of the time they are no bigger than 3/3 and I'll kill them with this to burn at least 10 damage. But hey, there is no kill like overkill.

i have definitely now seen the most un-Vorthos card in all of Magic the Gathering: Im going to burn you to death. With snow.
Yes, there is even a Snow Deck Wins based on this and a few other wierdos from this set.
I guess they couldn't just 'not have red', but really, they could have TRIED to make it more...red.
beleive it or not, the Vorthos in me tells me this should be BLUE. yeah, much more power than Psychic Bolt or whatever it was called but...snow=blue to me.

if you see this, your creature is skrewed.

"Skred" is a swedish word usually put together with a material to describe an avalanche of that material. For instance, as in the case with the art on this card, "Snöskred" ("snö"=snow).

Red isn't necessarily fire-based. Go read the color pie again.
http404error, I'm going to assume that you were using Everlasting Torment, because I like to assume people AREN'T morons.
This card is a great excuse to build a snow deck. "sorry, you say I can't kill your Baneslayer Angel with a Lightning Bolt? Ok? I hadn't planned on it."

Love this card, I built a GWR Christmas deck that built up a huge number of snow permanents, then aimed Skred at my Mirrorwood Treefolk, and then bounced the damage onto an opponent. Fun times with Red Snowball Fight.
Red should probably not get instant speed removal for that killed anything that can be killed with red damage, but that is what this was in Standard at the time.

This is interesting considering that red's burn spells are really great early-mid game and then kind of lose their luster when the fatties start dropping, but this is the opposite! This starts off weak and grows stronger the longer the game runs.

Not as powerful as it looks at first glance, because you eschew the ability to play with dual lands and the like in order to play with it.

Can hit harder than dismember for very little color commitment. It's weak early game but by T4 you have an instant speed Flame Slash; or T2 if you're both playing snow decks.

On another note, I took down a Blightsteel Colossus with this once.
