You, yeah you. You with the Zur the Enchanter EDH deck, with the Serra's Sanctum. I know what you're thinking, you little jerkface.

An interesting riff on Ghostly Prison. I like it, but would prefer Soul Tithe for mana taxing purposes.

Sphere of safety's favorite type of evening is an Enchanted Evening .

I'd prefer a cube or tetrahedron of safety, but I'll work with what I can get.

Not by any stretch the best Moat-effect. But it's not the worst either. It's cool. :)

It might be a tad expensive.
But in the right deck this is not only a Ghostly Prison.
It's a Ghostly High-Security Prison.

1 Sphere of Safety- Pay 1 to attack.
2 Spheres of Safety- Pay 4 to attack.
3 Spheres of Safety- Pay 9 to attack. etc.
Nice synergy with itself and this assumes you have no other enchantments which you probably will.

green white aura gnarlid decks could seriously abuse this cards effect, five stars

Exactly what I had in mind with my unfinished Azorius stall deck. Sphere + Nevermore or Detention Sphere (or in my case, both) should keep people from attacking my Jace AoT. Hope it works out.

I have two of these in a U/W control-mill deck for Standard, and it's beyond funny when you load the board with other enchantments. To name a few:

Oblivion Ring
Chronic Flooding
Detention Sphere
Arrest
Curse of the Bloody Tome
Righteous Authority

Sideboard candidates:
Nevermore
Curse of Exhaustion

All completely standard legal as of posting and all effective in their own right. Sure it might be a slow deck, but with cards like Jace's Phantasm + Hover Barrier to form a cheap defence, Sphinx's Revelation + Think Twice to keep the ball rolling for your hand and Syncopate + Dissipate to dictate what gets played, you're in for a fun game.

Also, Azor's Elocutors. You know you want to.

why is this rated so low? this thing is super powerful in limited if you can get at least 4 other enchantments. and it's now a staple in enchantress.

I believe this combos with Sphere of Safety.

It's rated low because, on its own, its an overcosted, less effective Ghostly Prison. Of course, you generally wouldn't put this deck to play it on its own (otherwise you would just run Ghostly Prison), but with 2 evenly matched decks answering each other's threats consistently... this would be one they wouldn't need to answer.

In casual though its fun to get this out alongside Enchanted Evening. Outside of infinite mana combos or insane ramp (or actually getting rid of either enchantment) they're not going to be attacking... ever.

Works great with Ethereal Armor.

2.5/5. Great in an enchanted deck, but difficult to manage in a limited deck without other enchantments to power it.

Absolutely in love with this card. It's perfect for making a fun and inexpensive standard deck. There are some decks that can literally do nothing when this thing goes online. Good enchantment removal is very rare to see in standard. (Oblivion Ring and Detention Sphere are about the worst of what you can expect to see.)

Here's just a few ideas:

Oblivion Ring - It's always been a solid card. Now that it counts toward the number of enchantments you have, it's even more powerful!
Abundant Growth - Cantrip and mana fixing.
Ground Seal - Cantrip and hosing.
Verdant Haven - Mana ramp and life gain.
Blind Obedience - Hoses haste creatures, life gain, maybe even a win condition with all of the cantrips enchantments you're playing.
Mana Bloom - Good Synergy as an enchantment, mana ramp, and not to mention it blends perfectly with Blind Obedience; you can cast it with X as 0 and extort turn after turn.
Gideon, Champion of Justice - Your opponent still has creatures, but they aren't attacking Gideon! What better way to actually get that ultimate ability off? A win condition!

Then if you're using Abundant Growth and Verdant Haven, you could probably splash cards with colors your lands don't even produce.

One Thousand Lashes
Assemble the Legion
Curse of the Pierced Heart

Perhaps use some X spells, like Clan Defiance and Sphinx's Revelation, since you should be ramping and also sitting behind you're sphere, so you should have plenty of mana to spare.

You can make a sphere of safety deck with or without creatures. If with, other possibilities include:

Rancor
Ethereal Armor
Collective Blessing
Triumph of Ferocity
Gavony Township
Kessig Wolf Run

Just pray that no one catches on to how sweet the deck can be and adds Paraselene or Merciless Eviction to their sideboard. Although you can side in Nevermore as a contermeasure to their countermeasure.

Remember that white has a lot of enchantment-based removal.

I like adding the Circle of protections to this pup. :D makes a double shield. the best time i had it was with two of these and all the circles.

With Enchanted Evening this is boss. I would prefer maybe a cost of 4 but.... I'll settle for 5 with this combo.

This is a great card. I have one in my enchant creature deck, full of Spirit Mantle, Ethereal Armor, and many more auras. It's also really nice next to Imperial Mask.

Edit: this should be pretty cool with all the enchantment creatures in Theros.

Why hello sphere of safety, my name is Heliod, I'm just gonna poop out some more of my cleric enchantment creatures and you can start locking everything down.

Yours truly

Heliod, God of the Sun.

Underrated card IMO. I understand people like Soul Tithe better but think of it like this. Soul Tithe cost 1W and lest your opponent pay the CMC to keep the creature alive which unless put on a creature with a high CMC. This for 4W says you have to pay crap tons of mana for all enchantments on the field just to attack. I use this in a standard U/W enchantment control deck and I just watch the game crawl. Now with the two together. You can just laugh your way to a win.

Who even runs mass enchantment removal anyway? On a side note, Heliod, God of the Sun T4 and then this turn 5 shuts down most aggro in standard. A T3 Boros Reckoner would just push it into crazy town.

A beast in standard when paired with Heliod. Pair this off with Ethereal Armor and suddenly you're a master enchanter.

At least until someone drops Merciless Eviction and exiles all enchantments

I only see this card getting more powerful as the next two sets march on.

Opalescence takes so many mediocre cards and turns them into god-beasts.
5/5 "you can't attack me" for 5; that's not too shabby!
