I think in terms of player attention convoke as one of ten unique guild mechanics from RavnicaBlock really drew one of the short straws. When one considers that a convoke card in hand somehow gives all your creatures on the battlefield a mana producing ability to play the spell, it doesn't seem so bad.

Interesting card, certainly. Convoke, to me, screams Token spam. I'll keep this card around.

Combos well with scuttling death. What? They seem like they belong together.

Lately, one of my friends was running this in a wurm deck he had, but he was new to the game. Only a new player would play this, but for a new player, this card is pretty awesome. One: it can be cheap, and two, it can trample, I just wish that it worked with Kaalia of the vast so I could get it out easier... but being neither an angel, dragon or demon, or red, it Sucks. But honestly, I dont know why I would want to use it with Kaalia, seeing as it has NO ETB abilities. Look, I really really wish I could like this card, as it seems cool, and I guess I would use it in draft, but I just can't really get over the 7 mana. Seeing as, by itself, and in a vacuum, it's not going to Kill someone before at least 4 turns or so, that means that they have plenty of time to deal with your non- Effecient threat. And 7 turns to deal with you, provided you don't have ramp (I mean, honestly, is there A situation where you would pay it's convoke cost? Not likely) Please, I know I stated this card was awesome for new players, but that (and draft) is pretty much all it's Ever going to be good for. I'm not trying to whine, or say that wizards sucks or anything, just saying its Not all that great. Kinda mediocre really. I will confess I kind of like it though. Theres something pretty fun about smashing with a big creature So much better if you're new and you think tapping 7 creatures is a bargain to play it though.

@Anubisisking: If you like to make some stupid "first letter of each line" joke, at least make sure to say something actually sensated... What does "is there A situation where you would pay it's convoke cost?" means? Convoke isn't a cost of sort, it's like a discount actually! And with "it's not going to Kill someone before at least 4 turns or so" do you mean that you're playing with a deck with 56 lands and 4 Siege Wurms?
You can drop this in the 4th turn even with a regular hand, so I don't think it's so bad... It's balanced and well-designed. I can see me play this card in some casual mono-green or GW deck!

sorry, just can't take this card seriously. It just looks like some kind of weird tentacle porn thing.
The only 5/5 monogreen trample wurm in Magic. If you ignore the convoke cost, can double as a Standard Wurm token.

@Anubisiskin The idea of convoke is not to make it cost zero, but to make it cost less a competitive amount For example, lets say you have three 1/1's on turn 4, with 4 Forests. That's enough to cast it on turn 4. This is powerful enough to see play in Pauper decks - that's an eternal format, mind you. I think the lesson is, remember that cards can be good in the format they are made for. It's not good in a flashy commander deck or a super-speed modern deck, but in Pauper or Limited, it's a solid, powerful card.

Still has better art than Armada Wurm. And they're both pretty unfortunate, regardless of phallic resemblances, compare to the art on Worldspine Wurm and tell me it isn't time to take those stupid helmets off the wurms. Yes we get it, they're breaking through solid rock, but they just don't look or feel right.

Turn 2) Forest, use Skyshroud Ranger's ability, Wood Elves
Turn 3) Forest, convoke Skyshroud Ranger and Wood Elves to play Siege Wurm
Turn 4) Blanchwood Armor or Canopy Cover on Siege Wurm
And that's usually how I play Siege Wurm.
