I had a panic attack when I first saw this - I misread the mana cost as {3}{W}{U} and thought this was a super-Baneslayer. Fortunately, it's not actually broken - just a good card that turns into a great card with some thoughtful deckbuilding.

He's powerful but he's still a 7-drop. There's 4 powerful 7-drops already and only Elesh-Norn gets regularly played due to her immediate and massive impact on the field.

Wizards, print more synergist excellence, please. Keep up the good work, and next time dont stick them all in mythic.
I'm always happy to see a creature that helps out card draw or lifegain, since single instant/sorceries are generally pretty ***. My only complaint is that, while the hands look creepy and white-washed out, the background art looks really stupid.

If you want value out of this guy, just put him into play with a few Soul Wardens and Soul's Attendant on the battlefield. Immediately gain life from him entering, then immediately draw cards equal to the number of Soul Sisters.
Also, Pristine Talisman for additional profit/acceleration if you plan on putting him into play by casting him.

Commander Review: hmm, let's see. A 3/5 flying doublestriker that can gain up to six life and draw up to two cards a turn. Well, of course the guy is weaker than consecreated sphinx, but so is 99% of all card draw in Commander. That ignored, this guy is ok. Seven mana is quite a lot but I guess I'd always play him in Isperia, the Inscrutable Commander decks, and about half the other blue-white decks. Well, and quite often in decks which have a Commander that gains life. In five color decks, I might cut him in favor of other cards that draw me stuff the same turn I play them. 3.5/5
With Sword of War and Peace First hit = 5, gain 5 life Draw a card (1), then let War and Peace resolve for X(+1) life and Z damage, draw a card (2) Second hit = 5, gain 5 life Draw a card (3), then let War and Peace resolve for X(+3) life and Z damage, draw a card (4)
So You gain: 14+2X life Opponent takes: 10+2Z damage You draw: 4 cards
X = Number of cards in your hand Z = Number of cards in your opponent's hand
What this guy really needs is a Spirit Loop. And to also be Niv-Mizzet. ... OOH OOH COMBO! DROGSKOL REAVER + NIV-MIZZET + LIFELINK COMBO! COMBOOOOO!!!!

A really solid foundation with this card. So my complaints go towards the art not being on par with it. Also I would of like it to have better evasion or hexproof it is a pretty investment for UW which can usually easily go towards somethign else. Still great card and really amazing for my game type Limited. Imagine getting this and Drogskol Captain or couple it in a U/W deck that has the dreaded combo that already wins games alone Ivisible stalker and Butcher's Cleaver .

Okay so it's a 7 drop that dies to dismember blah blah blah STFU, whenever it deals damage draw two cards is cool enough, but when soul's attendant makes gather the townsfolk a 2/5 for one? when every creature is a cantrip or more? when he's in the same set to be protected by Drogskol Captain!? God of the kitchen table at least, makes my casual johnny heart soar.

With a Sword of War and Piece, the damage is: 10+Z=Z and the life gain is 10+(X+1)+(X+2), with a gain of 4 cards (X is the number of cards in your hand, Z is the number of cards in your opponents hand). If my math is wrong, let me know. EDIT: @Lord_of_the_Real Thanks :)

@Zenzei: You mean CMC. The capital letter "C" in terms of the mana cost of a card refers to any generic color cost. For instance, "1C 2/2 creatures are often called "bears" after the 1G Grizzly Bears even though they're not green or bears." You're talking about the converted mana cost of expensive White cards you like, and converted mana cost is CMC. There's no such thing as "converted cost," which you're using CC for.
This card is sweet, but not as crazy as players were worried it was going to be when spoiled. I'm not sure if I've even seen any players running it. I totally would, but the only deck I have that's White/Blue is a Rafiq of the Many deck that only wants Rafiq to be attacking, and without enough other life gain cards, Drogskol doesn't draw you enough cards by sitting back and blocking. I'd love to see him in play.

'It was all going fine! But then I played Soul Warden!'
Mechanically interesting, flavor is a complete and utter mess. Why does a mad ghost in a cage grant you cards for gaining life? How does he had double strike or lifelink, for that matter? If he's seeking souls, why does he have nothing relating to exile or bouncing creatures, like WU might normally have for imprisonment?
@Osprey_93 He didn't suggest spirit link for massive life gain, he suggested it because it's an easy way to make it so you get more life gain triggers from his attacks. Spirit link with this guy is basically curiosity where you don't have to hit a player, and he has doublestrike. Putting 4 of them on him means you draw 10 cards if he hits with both of his attacks.

This card was so beautiful for me. When I first started playing last december (2012, if this is being read in the future) I got a starter kit, and inside the dark ascension pack was this beauty. somewhere in the box was a drogskol captain and a few other anthemy spirits, so the first deck i put together was a spirit deck.
now the reason I have to appreciate this card is this - its appeal to both new players and experienced players. when i first started, i said "holy crap, a 3/5 double strike lifelink!" now, i pick up this card again, and go "holy crap, draw a card every time I gain life!" I love design like that. I think wizards needs to make more cards like this, because it has provided me with a card that I could fall in love with as a new player, and still enjoy as an experienced player, and that's all for its abilities!
Mind you it is overcosted for competitive decks for something that most likely just gets removed before it does anything. But amongst my friends it does fairly well.
First note that I'm pretty much a Spike myself, so what I write below applies only to competitive Standard.
This is a line in the cmc beyond which the "dies to removal" argument begins to apply, and I believe it lies somewhere between five and seven mana. Of course, anyone writing Tarmogoyf off because it dies to removal is plain stupid. The five drops Baneslayer Angel and Kalonian Hydra saw Standard play despite not having any form of protection against removal spells. At six mana you start to want something that either generates a huge effect right off the bat (Aurelia, Garruk, Caller of Beasts, M11 Titans) or is hard to remove (Aetherling, Deadbridge Chant). At seven mana, you definitely want to do one of the above really well, preferrably both - just being an excellent creature by itself is no longer enough. A good seven mana creature in the current Standard is Angel of Serenity, which provides both an immediate effect and is resilient to removal. (Although Unburial Rites likely contributes a lot to its success.) While Drogskol Reaver could dominate a match against aggro pretty quickly, it never quite took off in competitive play.

Well it says it seeks out other spirits to hoard in its eternal prison, which leads me to believe it is a spirit which somehow got sucked into a grafdiggers cage and animated, now absorbing spirits into it from which they can't escape. I suppose it explains the lifelink....

I just got to play him today in an EDH match using Grand Arbiter Augustin IV as my general. He came down for five on turn five; and, luckily for me, my opponents didn't have any removal in their hands because, you know, he practically dies to everything. Next turn I was able to protect him with Elgaud Shieldmate. One of the few games I won tonight.
Personally, I like the card. It has great art, it's unique, and has an appropriate cost. What's not to like?

That was a nice limited bomb. I'm so unhappy it never hit standard, due to the lack of immediate impact for 7 mana. But still, I'm certain that in UW or UWR, when games went long, it would have been perfectly fine as 1-of. Next time maybe, my friend.

This guy is excellent for an EDH deck that is running Esper or U/W. His draw mechanic is excellent, and if you are running an aura deck, you can hit him with Indestructibility and some hexproof, you have a monster on the field. With Oloro, Ageless Ascetic as your commander, he is even more terrifying. I am sure in modern he will start to show up, but meh. EDH all day.
I just wanted to get in the apprently quarterly nonbo comment of "Horizon Chimera".....
Seriously, neither effect is a may, it would deck you, you would die with out another card such as Psychosis Crawler or Labratory Maniac, as has already been stated.
As for the card, he is very powerful. Strictly speaking from an EDH and Limited point of view, I would give him a 4/5. As I do not play standard/modern/legacy, I will obstain from making comments. I can, however, understand the points made that at 7CMC with no immediate effect on the board nor any built-in protection this is probablly not ideal.

The card draw and double strike flying are worth 7 drop in my "lifelink deathtouch first strike" "small but nasty" boosted creature deck.
I use Somberwald Sage to give me 3 colored mana so he feels like a 4 drop, giving me early-mid game card draw from my 3 drop creatures with lifelink. Then I drop Angelic Destiny on him or soul bond him with Wolfir Silverheart and swing for 14 to finish.
The double strike is two lifelink events, so when he swings himself, that’s usually a two card draw, and I also have Ulvenwald Tracker causing lifelink events, so I can get 3-4 cards off him per turn.
Yes, the art needs work, but he’s function over form for me.

With Sword of War and Peace
First hit = 5, gain 5 life
Draw a card (1), then let War and Peace resolve for X(+1) life and Z damage, draw a card (2)

Draw a card (3), then let War and Peace resolve for X(+3) life and Z damage, draw a card (4)
