Great with any wrath effects, and is just a solid card any which way you look at it. A 4/4 indestructible defender for 5 is pretty good, and a 4/4 flyer for 5 is also pretty good. Being able to turn the former into the latter for 1 makes this an excellent card.

My favorite limited rare that I got in my pool. It saved my ass so many times. Haha your puny into the maw means nothing to me! Also he looks pretty horny...(bad pun)

I think this will become much more relevant after Scars block rotates a year from now and it doesn't have to fear Dismember from every single deck killing it easily.

Indestructible isn't a keyword. It's an ability word. At least, I think that's how it works. Indestructible is not like flying or defender, I know that much. It's about how the rules interact with it that dictate the awkward wording. Indestructible is something you are, not something you have. It's like, being a creature.

Manor Gargoyle is a creature. Manor Gargoyle is indestructible.

You can't say 'Manor Gargoyle loses indestructible' and you can't say 'Manor Gargoyle loses being a creature.'

What they COULD do is make a new keyword to replace the old ability word: Indestructibility. Then you might say 'Manor Gargoyle loses indestructibility.' But that feels like it softens Indestructible. The statement 'X is indestructible' is as powerful, elegant, and imposing as 'Destroy all creatures'.

You try messing around with how they word Wrath of God, and then maybe you can get them to change how they use Indestructible. For basically every other part of Magic except the unfortunate case of Creature Type- Gargoyle, it's better that it works this way.

Awkward template much?
If "Indestructible" were a keyword that could be used outside of complete sentences, this could read:

Defender, Indestructible
1: Until end of turn, Manor Gargoyle loses defender and indestructible and gains flying.

OK, I take it back. Played this in casual Cube with That Which Was Taken, and the awkward template allowed me to attack with a flying indestructible 4/4.

Awesome card, whether or not it's good.

"Nothing could break it but black instants from NPH."

Perfect for Day of Judgements or Worldslayers, if you don't use it's activated ability.

Am I a man? Or am I a gargoyle? (Am I a gargoyle?)
If I'm a gargoyle, then I'm a very manly gargoyle.

Nice versatility on this one. Makes for a nice wall or a strong attacker, with the added bonus of surviving Wrath of God and such.

I, for one, like the way Indestructible is worded. It's a trait that can be applied to a creature without being an ability.
If you cast Withstand Death on a creature, it cannot be countered with Turn to Frog. It's an actual, effective change in the way it works, as opposed to pointless rephrasing.

Interesting combination with Wakestone Gargoyle. Since Wakestone doesn't remove Defender, he gets to attack while indestructible. Not bad, though he lacks evasion.
