Oh snap. If you have something awesome (and highly predictable) like Blightsteel Colossus on the field,
then...
well, you know.

You read the card effect, right?

This art, just...this art. It went from "awesome action pose in front of a dragon" to "taking a dump in front of some fire." Blech.

Yes the card is just as good, but any time I felt like making a deck with Kiki-Jiki in it, I would go out of my way to search for the other, non-poopin' version.

I dunno, I like this art. I don't think of goblin poop (...though I can never unsee that now, thank you) but rather the classic "macho man flex" sort of thing. He's standing in front of a raging inferno, and he's proud of it.

I know what you mean, though. I feel that way about the new Elspeth art for the Elspeth vs Tezz deck - it's atrocious and I can't bring myself to put her in the perfectly-suited EDH deck I have because of it.

I think this art is leagues beyond the original. He's not just standing in front of a "raging inferno." After all, the "inferno" has eyes. It's as if he's using all of his concentration to conjure this fiery doppleganger that'll vanish as soon as it's done wreaking its havoc. Very cool.

Honestly, I prefer the old art. In that one, you could clearly see that there's a dragon that he's copied, following his orders, attacking. In this one, it's just him in front of a wall of fire, with a bare hint of eyes in the background. Cool, but not as in-line with the flavor as the old art.

I actually like most of the new art from FTV:L (except Rafiq, bleh) but this is not one I think is superior or comparable to the old. The old art is very dynamic, you can see how thing are moving in it, you can see that Kiki-Jiki is commanding the dragon he summoned. In this one, everything is static: a fiery... something, is in the background behind Kiki-Jiki doing... something. It's really not clear what is going on in this picture.

Just like Splinter Twin, if you target your Deciever Exarch and use it's ETB effect on him, you can make infinite tokens with only a two-card combo. Seems legit.

Splinter Twin with body that triggers 'when a creature dies' effect. 4.5/5!!!

The new artwork is lame. It looks as if he's posing for the artist, and in doing so, seems to be breaking the fourth wall. Additionally, the whole picture is boringly symmetrical. It all makes the piece feel really contrived.

This guy is awesome in so many ways...

For starters, he completely changes how combat works. He lets you attack in situations where trading would normally put you at a disadvantage. Copy a lord-type card and pump your dudes for a turn, or crash in aggressively with a throw-away token. On the defensive side of things, attackers have to play around the prospect of consistently trading with or being chump-blocked by expendable copies.

Also, he combos with practically everything, most obviously Intruder Alarm. Any fatty or creature with useful enter/leave-the-battlefield ability is also a prime candidate for mirroring. Copy my evoked Mulldrifter, and attack with the copy? Yes please!

While Mirror Gallery and this card made all sorts of lights go off in my brain, his ability doesn't work on legendary creatures, so exponential gratuitous goblin goodness is out of the question. Still, the only thing I can think of that's better than having one Kiki out is two (or four)!

Make sure your opponent has all his creatures tapped (or Lightning Bolt the only blocker) and most of his lands as well...
Attach Breath of Fury to Goblin Lackey to attack to put down Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker (this card) to tap to copy Goblin Lackey, and attach Breath of Fury to it, (and this is all on the stack before sacrificing the actual Goblin Lackey because of Breath of Fury). Then you get an additional combat stage and untap all creatures, copy the Goblin Lackey token, then attack with the one with Breath of Fury, attach it to the other Goblin Lackey token and rinse and repeat! And yeah you can put a stronger Goblin because of Goblin Lackey, feel free to copy and replace Breath of Fury with that stronger Goblin, to just make the game end quicker. Then you keep on attacking forever till your opponent is dead. Game over. No need to attack anymore. No fun to just keep attacking the dead. xD

It's a toss-up on the art. The new art is more menacing and shows ol' Kinky off better, but the old art shows his ability better. Still deliciously combo-rific.

I actually like that they tried to do something different with this art (Compare to the completely idiotic Sharuum new art, which does nothing new). However, they didn't do enough different, and so the stupid elements have nothing to put them over the old art.

They should have gone really crazy, like having Kiki-Jiki riding a conjured dragon next to a regular dragon, or having Kiki-Jiki literally breaking a mirror in a field of mirrors.

Still, this is one of my favorite cards ever, and the art isn't bad, just not as good.

Here is the the number of combos this card allows if played in food chain goblins. this is dependant on a food chain being in play.

1. kiki-jiki+ seige gang commander= infinite 1/1s and infinite mana for creatures of any color
1a. kiki jiki + seige commander + skirki prospector is infinite damage
1.b kiki jiki + seige gang commander + goblin war chief is infinite hasty 1/1s
2. kiki jiki + ligtning crafter + infinite damage by setting up infinte response chain
anther useful play is kiki jiki plus goblin ringleader = put all goblins in the top 8 cards of your library in hand and attack for four or play the goblins you drew using the mana made by exiling the ringleaders.

What i'm saying here is this card is frigin awesome and a huge combo enabler in the right deck

Instead of listing all the combos for Kiki I will just say, I love this card. During a time when Goblin decks were running rampant, WoTC dared to print a 5 CC goblin. Kiki excels at making different combo decks, he doesnt just belong to one tribal themed deck. Of course Magic has continue to reproduce his abilities with Splinter Twin and other variations, but we all know Kiki is the master of cloning creatures. I really hope we see Kiki being reprinted in a core set someday.

@Gaffy00 the only ones of those that actually work are Village Bell-Ringer, Deceiver Exarch, Pestermite and Sky Hussar. The rest only untap themselves, not Kiki-Jiki.

Kiki-Jiki equipped with a Thornbite Staff combined with Skirk Prospector = limitless red mana. How?

First, tap the equipped Kiki-Jiki to copy the Prospector. Sac the copy, add Red to your mana pool, Kiki-Jiki untaps thanks to the Staff. Repeat until you have all the red mana you want.

So if you play this, then copy it with a clone that doesn't keep the legendary status you can have the clone copy itself to infinity, right?
Totema
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
@BanZZai: In theory yes, but there is currently no way to copy a creature while making the copy lose its Legendary type. An ordinary Clone would keep the Legendary type that this has, and both would die. Even if you find a way to keep both alive, it would still have the typing and would in that case not be a valid target for this ability.

bleh I never liked kiki-jiki and just don't see how the heck he got so high in price. He was overrated in Kamigawa and rarely made shows in decks except for the once in a blue moon kiki-jiki/intruder alarm decks usually with mystic snake as the win condition.

Uh....What about Goblin Lackey +Kiki Jiki? Turn one Goblin Lackey, turn two attack, play Kiki copy Goblin Lackey, and then just play any other awesome goblin that you can think of: Krenko, Seige Commander, Squee, Goblin Matron...That is just like...Amazing.

Kiki's card design is really cool, and I love cards like this (ones with interesting effects and lots of different interactions with other cards), but I feel like something went a little wrong somewhere for him to be so easy to break.

So yeah, I know it's practically irrelevant because Kiki-Jiki goes infinite with about a gazillion different creatures, but I still want to note that his tokens can be made permanent with Sundial of the Infinite by exiling the one-time triggered ability to sacrifice them.

Also, if you use Selesnya's new "Populate" mechanic, you can make permanent duplicates any of Kiki's copies. These duplicate copies will have haste, but they won't have to be sacrificed, since that clause is part of Kiki-Jiki's text and not the token's, so it is not copied. This applies to any Clone effect, but Populate is probably a little easier to spam.

It might be fun to try to abuse these in a casual context where players might frown upon the infinite combos. I'm usually all about infinite combos, but I really do feel like Kiki-Jiki makes it a little too easy.

I mean, he's tutorable even with Time of Need and Goblin Matron for God's sake, and there are so many cards that combo off infinitely with him that drawing one won't be much of a problem. And four of those have Flash (Pestermite, Deceiver Exarch, Village Bell-Ringer, and Restoration Angel), meaning you can sneak them into play when your opponent isn't expecting them, then untap into Kiki-Jiki in all his hasty glory. And you can protect the whole thing with Dovescape! Mana Short, Silence, Thorn of Amethyst, and other such cards are also pretty simple ways to all but guarantee a smooth execution.

However, I will make one contribution to the list of combo enablers:

You can make Necrotic Ooze copy itself infinitely if Kiki-Jiki is in the graveyard. Pandemonium ensues. Actually, since the copies will all hit the graveyard at the end of your turn, you could win with Blood Artist or any number of things that fit the curve better. For example, a Grimgrin in the 'yard lets you attack with an infinite number of infinitely large Oozes.
T1: Swamp, Dark Ritual, Buried Alive (Grimgrin, Kiki-Jiki, Necrotic Ooze, in that order)
T2: Land, Shallow Grave, go infinite

Pretty tantalizing, eh?

I love the new art for this card and it seems like an incredibly appropriate choice for From the Vault: Legends. This card acts as a win condition with Deceiver Exarch and Restoration Angel - by creating infinite haste tokens the turn it enters the battlefield (because when the tokens enter they either untap or blink Kiki-Jiki allowing the process to be repeated) and similarly with Thornbite Staff and Tar Pitcher.

Attach a Thornbite Staff to Kiki-Jiki and also a Thornbite Staff to Tar Pitcher (made easier by the free equip cost to Shamans) and copy the Tar Pitcher. Then use the original Tar Pitcher to sacrifice the token dealing 2 damage to an opponent. This untaps Kiki-Jiki and the Tar Pitcher for this process to be repeated infinitely. Although there are lots of similar combos such as with Skirk Prospector and Fireball like burn spells, these Thornbite Staff combos are much more difficult to execute due to volume of cards required to make this combo work. However, it does allow a deck to keep to a mono-red theme.

Also, Sundial of the Infinite can make any tokens Kiki-Jiki produces permanent.

And finally, if you can't be bothered to make a deck around him, he's a power house in any ramp creature decks (or any creature deck for that matter). Free haste Eldrazis sound nice to anyone?

Combos like this are a sign of the power Kiki-Jiki has and it’s nice to see some bolder and older reprints for From the Vault series.

Confirmed for Modern Masters (as a mythic, unfortunately, so prices probably won't get THAT much more manageable). Posting on this version because they're using this art, rather than the original.

I wonder when they made this garbage if they knew it read "You win the game".

Seriously, T4 flash resto angel T5 kiki. Its that easy. If your opponent cant disrupt it free win.
