He's like a contained Dross Scorpion, and can't use himself on other stuff. Intruder Alarm + Mycosynth Lattice + March of the Machines, one of the extremely rare things that can actually replace Dross Scorpion. Strangely, adding Altar Golem to the this+splinter twin combo works really well. And so does adding Paradise Mantle. Earthcraft. Field Surgeon. Heavy Arbalest Lust for War Maraxus of Keld Mossbridge Troll Symbiotic Deployment. Oh yeah. You need Splinter Twin.
