@The_Unknown: Puppet Conjurer doesn't work that way.

This is great if you can spare the artifacts though.

Only good in extended with Mirrodin cards to combo with.

The potential of this card is just disgusting. In casual play, it's beyond ugly. Mycosynth Lattice was pretty much made for this card. I'm currently using the two together with Reins of Power to swipe my opponent's creatures, sac them all, and then take another turn.... good times.

Not sure how stupid this is in T2 play, but once out of T2, it becomes very broken. Its not hard outside of T2 to keep enough artifacts in play to play this at every other turn with stuff like the Nuisance engine, Myr Servitor ect.. This should also force you to sac the Time Sieve itself imo.

Time sieve says: "feed me ornithopters and spell books"
I say: "ok"
Time Sieve says: "Yum"
Salvage Slasher says: "glub-glub"

Angusiasty...

I can see that Thopter Foundry and Sword of the Meek is a good combo. I can't see how it helps this card though. You aren't gaining more artifacts on the table to sac since you have to sac one to gain one. Or are you just saying that it's nice to get rid of token artifacts vs. regular ones? Because that isn't strictly true either since you have to kill a regular one to make the token. In other words, what are you talking about?

You'd be much better off playing something like Thopter Squadron or Triskelavus and Argivian Restoration or something similar.

You know - I thought this was the card - this right here- finally the worthless T2 rare has finally come, no strange combos for you, no one will make you good. (One M10 rotation later) ****! People always seem to make something out of nothing.

I think one of the best combos involves the Puppet Conjurer and the Unbender Tine, especially if you have multiples. I run one conjurer and two tines, with that, I can make three tokens a turn and have five in two turns (seeing as I have to sac one of them), which is perfect to pay for this cards cost and leave my other artifacts in play. Additionally, I find that sometimes, the Sieve may have to be sacd to pay for itself, but only in desperate times. Lastly, I like the Minion Reflector, because you can sac a copy token instead of a normal artifact.

dear firstprime

if you use thopter foundry to make a thopter, it pulls the sword of meeks out of your graveyard for free. Possibly adding up to 4 artifacts onto the field that you just used for time sieve and will use again, this is a good way to gain lots of turns. :

Call me crazy (I really wouldn't blame you), but I like this with Mycoloth and Spawning Pit. Feed Mycoloth some elves that helped get him out, then feed his ten saprolings to Spawning pit and take infinite turns.

I could be misunderstanding the usefulness of this card, but i cannot see why no one has mentioned using Time Sieve when coupled with Thopter Foundry and Open the Vaults. Tezzeret the Seeker will make all your recently brought back artifacts 5/5 after you have Time Sieved enough times to have your game in hand and graveyard, all the while gaining little bits of life from Thopter Foundry. Draw cards that affect both players like Howling Mine and Font of Mythos become one sided, as your opponent will no longer have turns to draw due to Time Sieve

Rite of Replication, kicked. You'd need lots of mana, but if it were, say, Sharding Sphinx that you replicated, that's game.

Combos insanely well with Sharding Sphinx. When you're at a point where you know you're going to start creating 5 thopters every attacking phase on the next turn (or sooner), activate Time Sieve (after your combat phase, of course - why waste perfectly good thopters that can produce more ^^) and start the never-give-up-your-turn loop. Even if they still have an instant with which to destroy the Sieve, all it takes is a Sanctum Gargoyle or Sharuum to get it straight back out.

Essentially, if they don't have some sort of instant (and enough mana) to destroy the sieve. it's game over.

Nice call w/ the Fabricates, FirstPrime, I was running some Diabolic Tutors, as I hadn't heard of that nice card. Now I'm gonna run both :D

Personally, my win combo is Thopter Foundry, Sword of the Meek, and Krark-Clan Ironworks. I'm running Time Sieve in case I should get the Foundry and the Sword, but be w/o the Works, and just use the repeat turns as continued drawing until I can pull the Ironworks, at which point I make billions of thopters, tap my Time Sieve once more, then swing for a billion or so damage.

Awesome when comboed with Colfenor's Urn. Pity the urn only has 1 use.

Get repeatable artifact generation and after a while these turns can start to pay for themselves. When that happens, you've pretty much won. And that's just the best case scenario. Extra turns that don't QUITE pay for themselves are still extra turns. This card needs to be built around, but wow.

I have yet to see someone come up with anything better to run this with than the Thopter Foundry/Sword of the Meek combo. Thopter Combo is already a win condition, and adding Time Sieve just makes sure that you win even harder.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Enduring Renewal, with so many classic tournament machines running on free artifact creatures, this is a game breaker. And let"s not forget Rings of Brightearth for ANOTHER extra turn without the sacrificing... throw in some Thopter Foundry combo, a Tolarian Academy, some Skullclamps and some Mox Whatever and you have the beginnings of another legendary Vintage tournament champion. and if Enduring Renewal gets blasted, well, there's always Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker...

How about Mimic Vat and Myr Battlesphere also putting this card in a Master Transmuter deck with the battle sphere and Precursor Golem I think if someone builds the deck right it could be a very powerful and viable deck for extended or a casual deck that will make your friends hate you.

Incoming combo from mirrodin besieged. thopter assembly.
As long as you can produce 6 mana to cast assembly each turn it will provide all the artifacts you need to power your sieve.
A two card combo for infinite turns? yes please.

Run this with Sharding Sphinx and you can have unlimited turns. Just cast Sleep and attack with five thopters then gain five more thopters and sac them to take an extra turn. Everything untaps (including Time sieve) then attack again. Rinse and repeat. It's that easy!

in case any of you realized, the new thopter thing from mirrodin besieged, with this is an infinite turn combo. Wait one turn for the thopter to bounce when it's alone, replay it, sac the five tokens...REPEAT and wizards gratz you made a two card broken combo in extended...again... TIME TO PUT THAT IN MAH EDH! I was really surprised when I first heard of the deck, actually reasonably successful at a time. But... five artifacts! I mean seriously?

But then they came up with decks filled with 2-mana artifacts that draw you a card, take an extra turn, only to Open the Vaults, draw a few more cards, and take another turn.

Combo with the new Thopter Assembly, sac the thopters created with it tap Time Sieve, take another turn. Rinse and repeat for infinate turns aslong as you have the 6 mana for playing the Thopter Assembly.

Ofcourse, you'll still need something to keep swinging at them or damaging them. But still, a combo to think about.

★★★★☆ (4.2/5.0) (2 votes)
This card could well become either restricted or banned from extended due to its 2 card combo potential. Hopefully that wont happen, as the combo while simple, is a pain to get out due to the 6 mana requirement. Also, their developers even came up with a deck involving it, so hopefully that is an indicator as to their view on this.

In my early days I pulled this out of an Alara Reborn booster. It went right into my Esper Deck which ran three copies of Sharding Sphinx. That infinite turn combo actually one me a game that i would have lost if my opponent took another turn, so I denied him of that luxury. 4*

FIVE ARTIFACTS?!? That's stupid. You can just use a Time Warp from the M10 Core Set. That's mythic rare, but it's worth it.

How can anyone call possible repeatable turns stupid? If your deck can poop out some tokens, perhaps draw some cards, play a few artifacts naturally, you can get somewhat unlimited turns. How can anyone call that stupid?

This card is sweet, and not when its just added to a deck, and not when its part of a boring easy combo (like with Sword of the Meek) but when you make a deck that can utilize it's potential.

Not all cards need to just win the game for you, sometimes you have to put a little thought into them.

Thanks for giving me less reason to be depressed about getting a Thopter Assembly in my Fat Pack...

@sir doom

You sacrifice the Sword of the meek to the Thopter foundry. get a 1/1 and gain a life, the the sword comes back attached to the new 1/1 artifact. 5 mana makes 5 thopters and gains you 5 life, then you tap this to sac the five thopters and take an extra turn. repeat. if you have any extra mana, that's more thopters and life to swing with on your subsequent turns. really, i think that this card is just the icing on the cake of the Foundry/Sword combo
FirstPrime
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
@SirDoom

If you sac the Sword of the Meek to the Thopter Foundry it will go to the graveyard, the foundry will put a 1/1 token into play, and the sword will come back into play attached to that token and be free to sac as many times as you want. Therefor for 5 mana you get 5 life + an extra turn with these three cards. Unless the oponent has an answer then and there it's pretty much game over. Broken card?

The power is just sick if you ask me, now toss in some Glassdust Hulk and Salvage Titan or Soul Warden, anything with sac or come into play affects and you have yourself a deck. Throw in some Fabricates to tie it all together. I'm going to build this deck, play it once, have all my friends curse at me like they usually do, and then put it away.

Edit. Ya this card loves thopters, it's like a big bug zapper.

In the right deck, this card will easily win you the game every time you cast it. Anyone who doubts this card obviously hasn't seen it used properly. And that's without infinite combos.

While I don't own a deck with this card, I've had the privilege of playing a deck that runs quite a few of these along with cards like Chromatic Star and many other 1 drop artifacts. I've never lost with that deck, mostly because of how abusable this card can be. The cost is mostly negligible in that kind of deck. In fact, it can even be an advantage with 1 or more Disciple of the Vault's and the like.

In conclusion, this card is absurd and will win games when used properly. An easy 5/5.

For style points:

Vintage: Mox Pearl, Mox Sapphire, Mox Jet, Mox Ruby, Mox Emerald
Legacy: Ancient Den, Seat of the Synod, Vault of Whispers, Great Furnace, Tree of Tales
Modern: Ring of Thune, Ring of Evos Isle, Ring of Xathrid, Ring of Valkas, Ring of Kalonia
Standard: Sharding Sphinx, Thopters (when this was Standard- Be Espery)
EDH: Knowledge Pool, Batterskull, Door to Nothingness, Titan Forge, Time Sieve itself
*because EDH decks are filled to the brim with silly jank, or they use good cards as silly jank cards, or they do whatever is most over-the-top, outrageous, and unexpected just because*

Kinda silly. Sacrificing 5 moxen just for a time walk O.o
Also, a deck with all 5 rings? That deck would suck!

Five artifacts is nothing. Not counting the Thopter Assembly and Thopter Foundry/Sword of the Meek infinite combos, simply look for 0-drops like Memnite or Ornithopter or things that get value from sacrifice engines like Ichor Wellspring, Mycosynth Wellspring, Solemn Simulacrum, and Disciple of the Vault. Believe it or not, a card does not have to be stupidly powerful on its own (looking at you, Wurmcoil Engine and Blightsteel Colossus) to be a good card.

In other words:
Time Warp: 3UU, target player takes an extra turn
Time Sieve: UB, you from one to infinite extra turns.
