Sort of a combination of Holy Strength and Pendlehaven, in Equipment form and therefore significantly better than, at least, the former card. The potential for card advantage pushes this into Constructed-playable territory.

Strangely, when Jacques le Vert, the owner of the sword is on the battlefield, this sword doesn't auto-equip green creatures...

Omg, it just got BANNED! Wow, that's actually really surprising, I didn't think they'd be willing to get rid of hypergenesis AND this in the same update, and cut out half of extended...then again, sword of the meek IS pretty good....ok.....broken....
Oh, and to Ava_Adore: I really don't know, so I may be wrong, but I think that the all the ability would know is it's supposed to "return to the battlefield and attach to that creature". So as long as the creature still exists, I think (I'm not sure) that they would both return. Maybe?

Banned in extended thanks to boring combo. Don't you hate when a flavorful card is done in by one with much less? :P

Potentially the most simplistic, annoying combo ever, and one of the most powerful. It can't say I'll miss it. At least you can do something about Marit Lage.

I would really like to know what the crushing combo was which got this card banned
If you would have told someone right when future sight came out, that one day this card would be banned, they would think you were nuts. Also, since you time traveled there to say that, pick up as many tarmogoyfs as you can.

I play this with krak klan stoker and heaps of 2-3 mana creatures with haste and other abilities sack it for two red and play them, i then get a 2/3 with haste and first strike. I also use the stoker to get a heap of mana to unleash skirk fire marshal (I have won 5 way games with this guy) and the like!
and of course the Thopter Foundry kinda breaks it, (though doesnt stop me from using that)
i want to know, if you have two or more sword of the meeks in the grave yard and a 1/1 comes into play, do both come into play or do only one come into play and the other ability fizzles?
edit: @channelblaze and other replies, thanks for your feedback I asked a heap of friends and they all agree both copies would enter and attach, the creature is a +1/+1 when it triggers, then the ability resolves regardless of the power of the creature after the ability is on the stack (or so my friends tell me)
The banning of this card still annoys me, from what i have heard and read, this card wasnt broken, it just broke another card, thopter foundry, first they were gonna ban that but didnt want to ban a card that just came out so banned this instead. which means if you use thopter foundry its fine (I find it way more powerful than this) but if you pull out this card by itself you get a hailstorm of hate from everyone else who thinks it is 10 times more of a threat than it really is solely on the fact it is banned. grrrr
2 to cast and equip, toughness increases usually are less desirable than abilities, and in my experience, most 'ok' equipment never ends up in the graveyard, let alone bad equipment.
If you get it in your graveyard and play a 1/1 turn one, which are somewhat uncommon in my experience, then you can have a 2/3? Doesn't that seem like a waste of time to work on?
1/5 alone, maybe .5, there is just no reason to abuse it, and no reason to use it normally.
Now with combos, you can have something to sac over and over, free back to play can be great, but only because of what you can do with it that gives his card any potential. I'm sticking with 1/5, I generally don't like rating a card only based on combos, this one, since I don't see it being used in things other than combos, gets some weird average.
Honestly I can't see a 4 for this, can anyone get any combos that really matter? How about any non instant win ones? (I think comboing with cards is sweet, instant win ones are a lot more boring)
This is more synergy then a combo, but one of my friends runs this in an infect deck, and her favorite thing to put this on is an ichorclaw myr. That way it is a 2/3 with infect, but if it is blocked its suddenly a 4/5. She also runs trading post because these three cards (while not a combo) make trading post insane. Trading post in her deck Ability 1: Discard sword of the meek, gain four life Ability 2: Pay 1 life get a free blocker. Ability 3: Sacrifice goat or other useless creature, get an ichorclaw for other trading post back from the graveyard. ability 4: Sac a sword of the meek, get card advantage.
In her infect deck, she uses these abilities at instant speed (especially when she is chump blocking) and she did awesome things.
At one point she had two untapped trading posts, and the enemy played shatter storm. She sacrificed the first TP to itself, then she sacrificed an artifact creature (using the creature sac ability) to pull the first out of the graveyard into her hand, and on her turn played an ichorclaw myr and the TP from her hand, and oh by the way 3 swords of the meek were in her graveyard so that was a 4/7 with infect that when blocked becomes a 6/9. ^_^ These are just a few ways the deck was screwing with the opponent.
BTW as a good balance, i play with sword of the meek and thopter foundry in one of my decks, but as a house rule we say if it hits the graveyard twice in one turn, the second time it is exiled.

... I've just realised something.
This is the ONLY equipment card to exist in Dominaria.
Though Future Sight does feature Lorwyn and Mirrodin stuff, so could be from there... but still, unless this is meant to somehow be foreshadowing Mentor of the Meek or Pendelhaven or something, this remains the only thing in Dominaria that people can pick up.
Nearly every card in Time Spiral block was a throwback to at least one previously printed card.
This card references Aegis of the Meek, which preceded equipment and used an older template in an attempt to represent creatures wielding weapons. These swords both reference Pendelhaven and belonged to Jacques le Vert, one of the original protectors of Pendelhaven, and can be seen in his art.
This card is actually banned in the Modern format because of its incredibly synergistic effect with Thopter Foundry.

An excellent pitch to Liliana of the Veil if you have a nice little 1/1 to play. I consider this reasonable discard protection in a deck that supports it. Makes you wish Stoneforge Mystic were a 1/1!
