It just occurred to me last night while tinking around with a possible white metalcraft build - the real purpose of the Wellsprings is to build up resistant metalcraft. You get a cheap artifact towards metalcraft and either a land or a card, and if the enemy wants to shut off metalcraft, you at least get something in return as well.
I use Sage of Lat-Nam w/ the Ichors, but I wonder if the Mycosynth would be better?
Guaranteed land vs. 1 out of 3 land draws (20 land in a 60 card deck).
There is playtesting to do!

"9/10 times it seems like your ichor wellspring only gets a land off the top anyways."
Your deck is 90% land?

In an ideal world where flavor text doesn't have to answer to limits of physical space, I'd have wanted a nicely symmetrical long form of this card's flavor text:
The oil created the Spore; the Spore created Mirrodin. Mirrodin created the mycosynth, the mycosynth created New Phyrexia.
I run this in my mono red goblin deck. Mana ramp with Kuldotha Rebirth, with 0 cost artifacts like Memnite or Accorder's Shield you can easily first turn 3 goblins. Throw some goblin grenades in for finishing.

Two lands for , Great card, twice as good as Armillary Sphere. Can I say strictly better than Armillary Sphere, or is that a faux pas? ;) Definite 5/5.

Um, no one's mentioned Venser? or Ghostly Flicker? or really anything involving flicker? Repeatable land tutoring for any color, namely blue and white is a win in my book, especially when it's only a little more expensive than the average green tutor, but it could easily get 2 and if it was cheaper than green it'd be broken, especially as a common
Card advantage and you get to sac artifacts for it! The difference between this and Ichor is that this guarantees you land; which can be quite nice if you build your deck as either mostly colorless; several colors; or simply with a low number of lands.
I use it next to Priest of Yawgmoth and it either becomes ramp for the mid-late game or it becomes a {0} fetch 2 lands card; either of which can be quite helpful.

Now, the temptation is too much..!
