This is what happens when you divide by zero in Magic. An epic card, great fun in Commander and decks optimized to use it. I'd hate to see it in my Limited pool though.

I'm happy they reprinted this... It's not really a competitive way to win, but in a casual game it can be hilarious if your opponent has 60 health and a whole bunch of uber creatures and you're down to like 2.
And hey, if for some reason I can't activate the door, I could just throw out Progenitus with all that mana or something.

I love the art for this card now compared to the earlier versions. Sure it's not a very viable card, but it wins you the game for 10 mana if you can pull it off while your opponent tries desperately to stop you. I can't see myself playing it, but it looks like a really fun card to play and even better when you win with it. If nothing else, I can just imagine a "Yes, that just happened." moment from one of these.

This card is both funny, stupid, lame and awesome all rolled into one!
The whole "target player loses the game" cracks me up every time I read it. The mana cost is just so rediculous the card is usually dismissed.
It enters the battlefield tapped, so opponents have ONE TURN to get rid of it, assuming you have the mana. Only an imbicile would play it early and leave it just sitting there because as soon as your opponent sees you've almost got that last mana, he will burn it. Play it AFTER you have it so he is like OH NOES!
And if you have , you deserve to win the game. Actually no, you don't win, your opponent LOSES!!!! Talk about "YOU LOSE"....
Nothing like this card in the Metallic Dreams Planeschase deck in multiplayer when you do actually have the mana. The feeling of power being able to choose someone's fate with one move is priceless, and so is the feeling of having everybody beg for their lives. "Who shall I end today"? Mind you, out of the 100 or so games ive played with that deck, I've only used it TWICE. So I wouldn't count on it.
The other hilarious thing about it is that it makes "target opponent" lose the game AT INSTANT SPEED!!! Hahaha! You can just have it sit there until you decide to make "target opponent" lose, In a duel they would just concede but everybody will hold their breath in a multiplayer game. And if someone goes to burn it you can just activate it!
5/5 for usefulness, hey, you'll win the... I mean your opponent will LOSE the game XD 5/5 for humor. Its the only card ever printed that has a targeted player losing ability XD 2/5 For versatility, can only be used in a WUBRG deck 1/5 for reliability. Just costs too much and its too varied. you need TWO of every color. Sometimes I have a hard time getting two of ONE mana. You'll usually die before it happens. 3/5 total

I love this!! Although not competitive, I play a casual infinite mana deck with wirewood channeler and pemmin's aura. Add in filigree sages and some planar portals, and you have yet another way to crush your opponent in as humiliating a fashion as possible. Having this, joraga war-caller, legacy weapon and ambassador loquatus go off in one turn is pure awesomeness.

This + Chromatic Lantern + mono-green land ramp? Gatekeeper Vine, Axebane Guardian, and Fog for defense and ramp. Throw in Farseek and the shock lands. Worldspine Wurm as an alternate wincon to use all that ramp. If you can ramp to 10 lands for the door then what's one more for the Wurm? Maybe even Craterhoof Behemoth.
Splash black for removal or white for chumps, protection, and life-gain?
I bet first time through a tournament the deck could eat people alive simply because no one would expect it.

i have a full standard door to nothingness deck that actually works about... i'ed say 2/3 times against normal agro/creature decks, i haven't played it against control much, and there are certainly much better ways to win, but i cant think of a single better way to make them lose. its based off prevents, i have full playsets of 4 different prevents, with multiple returns. in all i have about 30-33 ways to prevent in that deck, (only way i can find it to even slightly work in standard) its hilarious against casual standard play, went 2 wins 4 losses in my local tournament, so not bad.
i think the earliest i've ever door'd was turn 5... (keep in mind this is when M13 had just come out, the deck is full standard now as well, and works better in my opinion)
Turn 1: play Forest (:) : played Llanowar Elves Turn 2: played Island (:|:) : played Rampant Growth for Mountain, tapped Llanowar Elves to play another Llanowar Elves Turn 3: played Sunpetal Grove (:|:|/:|:) : played door to nothingness Turn 4: Played swamp (:|:|/:|:|:) :Boundless Realms for 5: Montain, Plains, Island, Swamp, Forrest. Turn 5: had no land (:|:|/:|:|:|:) : Activated door, mirroring the surprise on their face.

Could someone explain to me why Vampire Nocturnus, Exalted Angel, and Thundermaw Hellkite are mythic while this isn't? I mean, look at it: It has a mana cost that is shares with Progenitus that is so ridiculous to even look at, let alone pay for. It has a unique and thoroughly awesome effect. It is simultaneously extremely elegant and hilariously overblown in its design. The only thing it's lacking is good flavor text. The old Memnarch flavor text was awesomely evil. The current flavor text is somewhat uninspired. The art could have been better, as well. Neither piece of art captures the brutality of essentially exiling a player. This card defines mythic rarity for me. That said, if this can exile a player, why can't it exile a planeswalker?
