Energy Chamber and the cards with Proliferate make getting out the 9/9 golem fast and easy.

You can get a titan out the first turn you play this thing if you're good

★★★★★ (5.0/5.0)(1 vote)
If you have a core tapper in play the second this card his play you can throw down a titan. Tap core tapper for a counter on it, then sac it for 2 more, then tap forge for a 9/9.
There's better bigger beef out there and combos to make bigger things hit faster however.

Nice Casual Card in Proliferate Decks. This and Lux Cannon are perfect for the Archenemy Deck: Assembling the Doomsday Machine.

Coretapper can have that bad boy come out as early as turn two if need be. Coretapper > Energy Chamber btw, at least in the purpose of this conversation.

Nice card, if you combo it with cards that add additional counters: Especially doubling season is nice in that matter, since it both doubles the number of counters added on this card, and doubles the amount of tokens created when it's tapped. Without any outside help though, it's too slow and mana intensive. Four turns and 12 mana for the first token is too much.

@ MrMoonsin: For black, any 9/9 critter begs to be played with tainted strike. They might even allow your old darksteel colossus through (until you get the Blighted One) thinking they have one more turn. Then tainted strike. If they can block some of the infection your already playing with proliferate.

In a proliferate deck throw in some Sphere's of the sun for mana fixing/ramp and then when one of these hits the table Momentous fall it. "Haha I have assembled a hulking titan, now bring it down elves and harvest the parts!"
@Vividice, now you have made me want to build a deck using this and lux cannon, and maybe some other ubur awesome card,
this card is great, an offordable and relatively quick way to get out big creatures, even by itself with no accelleration its a turn 7 9/9 which is not normally around, although turn 7 is also not normally around in anything outside of casual
Why on earth is this rated so high!? Oh sure u can invest 12, or some sweet combo that involes +2 other cards for a 9/9. Just summon a colossus for that mana.

Surprised noone has mentioned the synergy with Precursor Golem, you could use Titan Forge to create more targetable golems, althought that might put you at a card disadvantage, the prospect of golem tribal sounds awesome!

I love this card, even without the benefit of proliferation. Instant 9/9 fodder/beater? Puts my opponent on a clock to kill the artifact or die a horrible death? Schweet. Turns on Metalcraft by making artifacts that are capable of winning the game for you? Cool.
Has anyone else seen the connection between the Kaldra equipment cycle and the actual token this forge makes? It looks exactly like Kaldra.

Yeah, I can totally see this being mythic for flavor alone.
Also - this creates the second biggest token in the game. And the biggest nonlegendary, if you care about that.

@DacenOctavio: Actually, now that you mention it, the 9/9 token does look kinda like Kaldra. Also coincidentally, Kaldra himself is a 9/9 with all three of his Equipments (although the Avatar token has a bunch of really sick effects stapled on as well).

Its powerful card. You dont need to pay its charge counet cost every round, but you can pay whenever you want. Just cast some powerful creature and atack with that creature and in meanwhile you can pay its charge counter cost :) I dont have cards to combinate this and make faster casting of 9/9 token.
Powerful card, and 3 lands is not many :) I didnt try this card, I found it in booster pack. But i think it can be good if you dont have cards to cast.

THIS IS A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT!!! If you get this in a draft, DO NOT play it turn 3. It does not affect the board state at all once it comes down, and it will take a few turns to get it going anyway. Instead of this, play something relevant early to hold back the opponents pressure. This card can be a legitimate bomb if you use it right. This can be a win condition if your deck can stabilize the board and attrition the opponent out.
In short, many drafts have been lost because of the foolish dream of getting a 9/9 out "early" by wasting 4 turns in a row instead of casting spells. Don't let that happen to you.

Put this out with Training Grounds, Surge Node, and Voltaic Key. Unless, of course, you for some reason do not enjoy seeing your opponents curse in response.

Ugh, Idk about this one. I have a really fun, powerful deck that proliferates and puts charge counters and all this crazy crap and I was able to put a titan out every single turn and the opponent was able to either just chump block or Day or deal with them some other way. If I had a grindclock I would have milled him to death like 6 turns before I conceded from boredom.

This is great against angels, apparently. All you need is some angsty 14-year old and some subliminal messages and you're good to go.
extra good in EDH, poops out a 9/9 pretty much every third turn until someone gets rid of it

I've switched my copies into EDH decks, where they can actually go off sometimes. The most fun part is saying "I'm dropping an EVA Forge," and only one person at the table knowing what you're talking about.

Ooh, Unwinding Clock + This + Thran Dynamo In multiplayer games you have the potential to get a 9/9 every turn. Awesome.

Once you've got the token, dump it into a Mimic Vat. Good times =)

@Shadoflaam: Rhys the Redeemed copies your tokens. This is currently the game's largest non-legendary token. That's why you'd care about that.
@MechaKraken: The tokens cease to exist when they leave the battlefield. That's why Mimic Vat specifies "nontoken". So unless I've misunderstood you, that double doesn't work.

This could easily have been a Mythic Rare if they'd been just a little bit more daring:
Make it come into play tapped. Make it a 4-drop card. Make it cost no mana to put charge counters on. Make it not untap. (Easily adjusted with cards like Unwinding Clock and Voltaic Key, which we were gonna use anyway) ==================== ====================
Make the tokens created indestructible

Regardless though, I think it's pretty easy to use as it is. Mostly because... Charge Counters. Charge Counters are really easy to abuse. Hell, you can toss out a Coretapper, tap it, then immediately sac it to instantly throw out a Titan.
And they are, you know, trampleless. Looks like a job for Golem Artisan.

No one mentioned coretapper? A guy who automatically turns this into a T3 9/9 at instant speed? (I.E. a 9/9 with haste T4?)
Run next to any equipment that grants trample (how about o-naginata? Trinket Mage can grab that for you by the way) and you have an easier to run Darksteel Colossus. If built right, a deck like this doesn't suffer from the card disadvantage and can utilize proliferate as another means to quicken this.
This is the definition of a mythic. Way to drop the ball R&D

@TheWrathofShane: Give it trample and I'd agree. A 9/9 Golem that can get blocked by a 1/1 Suntail Hawk doesn't seem very "epic" or "mythic" to me :P
It does reek of flavor though, which is why I love Vividice's idea of running it in the "Assemble the Doomsday Machine" Archenemy deck. (Archenemy is totally the most fun I've ever had in a game of multiplayer Magic by the way - I really hope Wizards'll print more support for it!)

Toying with the idea of playing Doubling Season with it.
Only problem is, the new Mirrodin Besieged set has soooo much artifact removal.
Coretapper, Energy Chamber, Vedalken Infuser, Contagion Clasp/Contagion Engine, Inexorable Tide, Tezzeret the Seeker. They make it so easy.
