Honestly this card isn't bad without the Sword combo. With sword though, it's one of those combos that doesn't go infinite so no one can complain! EDH needs more of those!

All they needed was Sword of the Meek, and I'm curious why they didn't add it. Kryptnyt has a good point: even if you're not going infinite, you can get lots of life and 1/1's whenever you need to sink in some mana. It's still not infinite, though!
I'd theorize that they didn't want to encourage infinite combos. They aren't the most fun to play against, and they're somewhat easy to achieve.
Regardless, it's a decent trick when desperate, and it can work well with Oloro.

@Kryptnyt: I couldn't agree more. It's a very strong combo, but not entirely unreasonable, and it doesn't go infinite. Infinite combos are no fun at all.
@Themisteranderson: Add Desciple of the Vault for infinite life-loss, Grave Pact and Well of Lost Dreams for optional infinite card draw. Infinite all the things!

That being said, I'd like Wizards to explain their Jund deck, also known as "Primal Vigor/Tooth and Claw/Deathbringer Thoctar".
