I really wanted to like this guy, and I actually do, but his effect is useless, I mean, how often in a esper deck do you find your gravyard empty? I do almost all the time, even if I sacrifice for him, with sharuum and the sanctum gargoyeles, this card doesn't really have a right place in the esper shard... The glassdust golem is better... But his artwork kicks ass!

This could be potentially useful, assuming a deck with no mana, filled with zero cost artifacts, affinity artifacts, Mycosynth Golem and Darksteel Colossus. Maybe a Platinum Angel for good measure.

He may not fit perfectly into esper, but if you take a look at him and his buddy salvage slasher in the older set of mirrodon block he fits perfectly into any "Nim" decks and also works very well with modular =)

I'll think about putting him into my ad nauseam deck's sideboard as a sneaky way to beat decks that I'm having trouble with. I could easily have him down turn one, or a more likely scenario would be turn 3 when I have glaze fiend out and drop three 0CMC artifacts, then sacking them to the titan. swing for 8 in the air on turn three, and have a 6/4 as backup. I like.

Never a disadvantage to lose this guy if you build around expendable artifacts. (which can be useful if necessary like Bonesaw, Sigil of Distinction, Everflowing Chalice, Spidersilk Net and Spellbook)

With the inclusion of Memnites, this guy has even more opportunities of making it out for free.

On a side note, I'd like to see more black artifacts. Actually, just more colored artifacts altogether. I was convinced we'd see them in Scars...

This is one of those cards that makes me want to build a casual deck around. It isn't great in just any artifact deck, but make one that limits the draw back of sacing your artifacts and its much better.

So I did just that... Its called Titan Toft, because Toft Is my fiancée whom I made it for and because Salvage Titan is the main card idea.

I think he would get modular counters.

Ichor Wellspring likes this guy.

myr retriever will LOL if you have another titan in the grave.

This card doesnt need evasion. It needs a graveyard combo. The salvage in his name seems to be a hint

Heh.
Just realized that this guy is sort of the precursor to Skaab Ruinator.

People tend to make out of hand, gimmicky one trick pony decks around this card on magic online. Shame on you, i was looking for a real game.

That said, in a relatively normal artifact deck, ichor wellspring will suffice to recover the incredible card disadvantage that this generates. And it dies so easily, and lacks evasion, It's not very effective imo.

I gave it a four in the end though, it is pretty strong and i like alternate mana cost cards now and then (excluding new phyrexia motif).

@Patron: "Dies so easy?" It's Black. It's an Artifact. It's got 4 toughness. That's a lot of removal right out the window. It's also potentially a 6/4 on turn 1. That alone is good enough to use if built around.

I run this guy in my black genesis chamber deck. It's actually better to wait until you get a Disciple of the Vault and a Blood artist out. You can get him out, gan three life, they lose 6, and you get a (sorta) fattie for no mana.

Sac three creatures for a 6/4? That's AWESOME. And he just keeps coming back...

Just think, a few Memnites and Ornithopters allows you to play this guy on turn 1.

Also goes well with Myr Battlesphere, Myr Turbine, and other token myr cards. Perilous Myr and others that provide card advantage when they die can work getting him out T3-T4 while costing you basically nothing.

Precursor Golem can be good too if you add some flicker effects. Eat the spare golems; then flicker him to get them back. It has all the advantages of the flicker effects normally would; except that it resets your entire board and reproduces the tokens.

Basically in the deck I built around this he reads: "You have 3 turns to exile this creature or you lose the game."

Works wonders with all the Zero artifact drops but especially welding jar
