It's a great card, but save it for when your life is already low.

What victory could be more satisfying than overwhelming your foe with the might of dragonkind? Actually being the dragon that takes the last bite. Now that's an epic win. Then again, even if this card sucked in practice it would be totally worth casting to me.

This card is amazing, and in no way deserves to be a last resort. Dragons are not last resorts. Dragons are powerful. Dragons destroy the land and all who inhabit it. Just drop it in an enduring ideal deck! Even a mono-white enduring ideal deck. Just make sure it's not in your hand. When you drop enduring ideal, find Dovescape. Next turn find Solitary Confinement. Next turn find Form of the Dragon. (Then if you wish find a second Form of the Dragon) In 4 turns at most you win.

Kind of an expensive combo, but this will make you near invincible, but the cards on the field are still vulnerable...
Yeah its all fun and games until the use Willbender on you.

I'm really sad that Form of the Dragon isn't a "Tribal Enchantment - Dragon", when it is obviously a great excuse for being one. I really want to be able to flip up Form of the Dragon with Dragonstorm, and be able to cast it for less with Dragonspeaker Shaman..!

OMFG THIS IS COOL!
Cards that transform yourself into something else are so few, they should definitely make a cycle of this "form of demon, form of angel, form of wurm, form of sphinx" or something like that, to have a card that turns you into a demon... reminds me of the demon prince ascension in warhammer, damn, does such a card exist? Until I find it, this will do, the art looks like what I had in mind ;)
This is the most incredible card ever!
If you have this card in play, and then cast a lich, at the beginning of your next upkeep, Form would try to make you gain 5 life, and Lich wouildnt let you, forcing you to draw cards instead. So you would deck yourself, correct? Just wondering.

How can you tell this is a well-designed Vorthos card?
You see almost no one complaining about how incredible not red those abilities are. But hey, it feels so right, so it's awesome!
I'd be interested in seeing a variant on this in another block.

@Qazior, That would just make you lose in a few turns. Whenever a life total is set, X life is gained/lost to get to that total. You would just lose X life to get to 5 and immediately gain 2X life due to Transcendence.
Wouldn't you be invincible with this card? I mean as long as this card is out it doesn't matter how low your life goes at the end of the turn it just goes back up to 5 right?

@ The Swarm:
Gravity Well won't help. When those creatures are declared as attackers, they still have flying. Therefore, declaring them as attackers against you is legal. The fact that they lose flying afterwards doesn't remove them from combat. Now, if you used Thundercloud Elemental's second ability during your opponent's beginning of combat step, yes, his creatures wouldn't be able to attack.
That would only work under 5th Ed. rules, and only if you had dropped to 0 during your end phase. But 6th ed. fixed that. You lose whenever state-based actions are checked which happens whenever a spell finishes resolving. You have no chance to save yourself.
@joemercer
Well, it wouldn't deck you right away, but yes you'd draw 5 cards at the end of each turn.

Naturalize. Congratulations, you just did 3/4 of my job for me.
My signature deck does that. Don't care how easily I'll die to Lava Axe, Demystify, Cancel, or any of a multitude of cards. 'Cause to me, winning without setting the countryside alight with your very breath isn't really winning.

Lol, if there are no creatures and your opponent has hexproof, you blow yourself up. It gives you no choice about breathing fire.
@Szyx: REALLY bad idea. If you play Imperial Mask, all they have to do is play a Wrath of God and you deal yourself a fatal 5 damage at the start of your next upkeep.

Now I want to make a Fateful hour-deck built around this card. Oh man.
Phyrexian Unlife with this is actually better than you say, it's not simply 15 more life.
If you have the 5 lives from this and you're hit during combat for 10 then you'll simply be at -5 lives, if he doesn't hit you more during that turn then you'll get no poison counters and at the end of his turn your life becomes 5 again, gaining 10 life.
So an opponent would have to deal damage to get you to 0 life or less and then deal damage again afterwards within that same turn, to actually cause you any harm.

Step 1... wipe the board of creatures Step 2... drop Witchbane Orb Step 3... Donate this.
If their are no legal creature targets, they would be forced to target themselves and you would win the game. Then again if you had this out and they had no creatures, you still would probably win the game without donating :D
EDIT: I came up with this on my own, but great minds think alike. I see others have posted similar strategies.
Combos exceptionally well with Fateful Hour cards, such as Thraben Doomsayer :)

This + Convalescent Care + Solitary Confinement = WIN. Here's how it works: At the beginning of each upkeep (assuming you put down Form of the Dragon first, Convalescent Care second, and Solitary Confinement last) you deal 5 damage to an opponent or creature, go up to 8 life, draw a card then discard a card. You will still go down to 5 life at the end of each turn, however, since FotD doesn't actually deal damage to you. That said, as long as you have all three out you can't be attacked by creatures without flying, can't be targeted by spells or abilities, and can't be dealt damage.

I'd love to see a cycle based upon this.
Form of the Hydra, Form of the Levithan, Form of the Vampire Lord/Form of the Lich-Lord. Form of the Seraph.
All have effects which mess with your life Total, while giving yourself massive effects. Like, Form of the Vampire Lord - gives every Black creature you have Flying, Lifelink and +1/+1, but you take 10 damage during your endstep. The Opponent need only find a way to starve you to death to win - otherwise you smite them.
I think it would be fun.

the "classic" one simply showed a dragon flying around, this one shows a transformed planeswalker, doesn't it?

It's a great card, but save it for when your life is already low.
Form of the Dragon
Imperial Mask
Blazing Archon
plus maybe some Paradox Haze's...you know, just for fun.
Others that amuse me: Form of the Ooze, Form of the Saproling, Form of the Plant...

Faith's Shield all permanents get pro one colour
Gather the Townsfolk 5 1/1
Thraben Doomsayer +2/+2 to all my creatures
Avatar of Hope easy enough to cast at 3 lives
Righteous Aura you can negate 2 attacks per turn
Hedron-Field Purists reduce all damage by 2
Urza's Armor reduce all damage by 1
Gravity Sphere cant get attacked at all
Chaosphere can block with any creature + flying cant block mine.
phyrexian unlife artificial 15 lives.
I think i might have a deck...
Phrexian Unlife to have one measure of defense against losing right away.
Platinum Angel/Platinum Emperion so you can't lose and your life total doesn't change respectively.
And any of the new cards with Fateful Hour, for not only an extra layer of defense of monsters, but good synergy with your health. Bonus tokens.
All in all, a good card. Wish I had it!
Form of the Dragon
Ivory Mask
