Those creatures in the reflection... Either their identity was meant to be left ambiguous, or there has been some very freaky sex going on in Innistrad.
Surely, though, there must be a lycanthropic vampire somewhere, unless they all went extinct when they couldn't decide whether to drink the blood or splatter it everywhere.

Highly versatile, this card anti so many things, including land destructions.

It's like Apostle's Blessing except you can target any permanent you have, and the Fateful Hour effect is absolutely amazing, too.
Every set has a card that gives your guys protection and this is easily one of the better ones.
Also, giving yourself protection is very helpful, what with all that burn flying around.

Commander Review: it's playble but not great. It acts most of the time like a very narrow counterspell. If you have a commander that is very vulnerable and can do something great when it got rid of summoning sickness AND you don't run blue for counterspells, then adding this is a possibility. I'd probably still prefer shelter, which is even more narrow, but it does protect my commander fine as well and is a cantrip. 1.5/5

Extremely powerful, and I thought I'd never find an adequate replacement for Apostle's Blessing. 5/5...
That's 4/5 for being a great card and an extra 1 for having Champion of the Parish in the art.

Without the fateful hour, this card would be pretty sweet. With fateful hour, this card is crazy broken.

I especially like this variant of the basic protection instant, the ability to protect anything for , saving valuable enchantments, lands, even Planeswalkers. The fact that it gives YOU protection in addition to all your permanents for the Fateful Hour s just bonus.

You need this thing if your deck relies on Fateful Hour, just in case a goblin is flying at your head.

I agree with majinara that most of these cards are subpar, but his review on this one...there is no reason not to run this. You know all those creatures you say die to removal? Problem solved, right here, for one mana. And it'll make something, or maybe everything, potentially unblockable. How can you complain about this?

If there is a card that makes good use of the fateful hour mechanic, its this
Giving you protection from a colour means burn/loss of life cards can't target you, and protection for all your permanents is just icing on the cake

Love it. Not only is a great response to targeted removal (or red boardsweepers), in standard you can strategize with phyrexian mana to maximize the benefits, sign me up.

Wow. This is replacing Rebuff the Wicked in my decks. Rebuff the Wicked was preferred over other similar cards because it did any permanent. However, it is weak to enter the battlefield effects.

By Akroma's Vengeance! By Asha's Grace! By Holy Avacyn's Collar! I will NOT let you destroy this town! Not while my breath still holds, not while my heart still beats.

While this is rated lower than Rebuff the Wicked, it is just better in many ways.
1: The fateful hour clause. 2: Protects from combat damage. 3: Can make things unblockable. 4. Can remove harmful auras that are already enchanting your permanents. 5. Counters abilities (abilities have the color(s) of their source, right?)
In addition to acting as a counterspell on anything Rebuff the Wicked can, except Ghostfire and spells that target more than one permanent. I would say the benefits outweigh the cons. 4/5.

This card right here, and all Fateful Hour cards, such as Thraben Doomsayer, combo exceptionally well with Form of the Dragon, if you can pull it off.

I started running this with Quirion Dryad, just to see if they'd work well together. First off, it does. Really, really well. Second, this card's Fateful Hour ability has subsequently saved me COUNTLESS time against mono-red. Let them send in all creatures, probably with a Hellrider in tow. They knock you down to below 5 life, then try to finish you off with a Searing Spear. Respond with Shield, untap, swing for the win. It seems a little convoluted, but with RDW sooooooo popular right now, this has happened for me numerous times. And add in Snapcaster Mage?
not to mention it acts somewhat a fog at 5 life. i was saved by this countless of times. decent card

This is definitely my favorite Fateful Hour card. Even the regular effect of protecting any one permanent for one mana is pretty sweet, but the Fateful Hour is usually a game winner if i have a decent board.
