Not too easy to win with this on the table. For either player really.

you could stall the game for a while with an equipment that gives shroud and Darksteel Forge

if the squirrel dies after the enchantment leaves play do you still lose the game?

Just have Whispersilk Cloak in play and you probably win.

Awesome for squirrel decks. I mean, really. Join them in battle.

I don't know which is more hilarious. The mental image of a real wizard in a magical duel using this, or the one of a real wizard in a magical duel winning with this.

obviously this is intended for combo use once using the ultimate ability of the white planeswalker elspeth. Once all your permanents are indestructible and you can't be forced to sacrifice a creature because of the shroud granted by this, you just have to beat down your opponent with your 1/1 indestructible token.

Much better since you do'nt need Solitary Confinement like you would with 'form of the dragon'
Given that you are a nutter and playing with squirrels, being turned into a squirrel is far better than it seems. Not only do you get to make chittering noises at the displesure of your opponents, your Nut Collector's and Deranged Hermit's will not leave you wanting.
keep a Swarmyard handy though, it will keep you around a whole nut longer.
remember - An army of squirrels is still an army -Squirrel Mob (yes they get boosted by you as well)
best card ever printed artful and well done - 5 / 5

A good card means more than simply its power. This card is a good card because of its design flavor.

Is it sad that this card seems like a viable card for an actual set, and that I would love to see it thus printed?

No one should be making posts about how to win by using a Donate style effect, you should be making posts about how to kick planeswalker ass with your new bad ass squirrel body

Awesome combined with squirrel nests, and destroying it later with an isochron scepter can be a game winner after you've accumulated enough squirrels.

My favorite use for this card is against new players to teach them the value of removal: If I'm not attacking and you don't have a kill spell, I win. I realize Platinum Angel is both legal and probably superior for this purpose, but it doesn't drive the lesson home quite as well.

Elvish Piper...
Whispersilk Cloak...
Mycoloth...
Protean Hulk...
All of the above can make you win with this lol

Note: One of my friends actually ran this in an exalted deck... The second he had Elspeth and Ajani he would play this then whispersilk cloak the squirrel and give it Shield of the Oversoul... when a 20/20 rabid squirrel attacks you and its unblockable something inside you ticks and you decide to concede lol

have a enchantment sac outlet and sac the enchantment when the squirrel becomes a target, because it says when the squirrel leaves play not the enchantment

how did he put shield of the oversoul when this card stops you from playing spells?

You can still be damaged by atmospheric life draining effects (i.e. Blood Tyrant). :(

If the squirrel token leaves play while the enchantment is phased out, and then the enchantment phases back in, what happens? Do you lose, or become virtually invulnerable?

CANOPY COVER that squirrely Quick!

~MasterOfEtherium

You prove yet again you are either a clever troll or a hopeless idiot.
Once form of the squirrel is out you wont be able to cast canopy cover on the token.
Also You Did Not Capitalize The First Letter Of Every Word Like This.
TreeTrunkMaster
★★★☆☆ (3.8/5.0) (2 votes)
@ MasterofEtherium: It says you can't play spells so you can't cast an aura on him... but way to not capitalize the frist letter of every word ha, that's a first. You would have to have an equipment out like Lightning Greaves already out then equip the token.
Edit: Just saw The_Sturm said about the same thing I did to MoE already ha. MoE is famous on this site for all the wrong reasons.

You should be unable to lose the game as long as you are a squirrel. =(

I'm pretty sure donateing this would still cause you to lose when it leaves play because it the effect that refers to you is stated on the card and not given to the squirrel token, it would rely on the spell's controller and not the token's

@Hibron and others: If we interpret this by present-day ability templating, the entire ability of putting the squirrel into play and losing when it leaves play is part of the same CIP trigger. Meaning that "You lose the game when it leaves play" is a delayed triggered ability that doesn't require this card to still be in play.

So.
Combo with Opalescence and Torpor Orb and you can ignore the entire first paragraph on this card.

it's a parody of form of the dragon

You can't use Opalescence + Torpor Orb to stop the token from being created because the token is actually created as part of a replacement effect that modifies the way it enters the battlefield (a la Clone, Coldsteel Heart, etc.), not as a triggered ability. Note the "As this comes into play" wording as opposed to "When this comes into play".

This replacement effect creates a delayed triggered ability that will go off when the token leaves play, much like the abilities of Phantasmal Mount or Dance of the Dead.

The question is, if you Donate the enchantment away before it triggers, who will lose the game?

The answer can be found in 603.7f (emphasis added):

603.7f If a static ability generates a replacement effect which causes a delayed triggered ability to
be created, the source of that delayed triggered ability is the object with that static ability. The
controller of that delayed triggered ability is the same as the controller of that object at the time
the replacement effect was applied.

If the enchantment entered the battlefield under your control, you will lose the game when the squirrel token leaves play no matter who controls the enchantment at that time.

A previous post mentioned Phasing. This is a combo. Phasing out does not trigger leaves-play abilities (702.24d), and a phased-out token ceases to exist as a state-based action (702.24k). So if you manage to phase out the token (for example, with Teferi's Veil), you will not lose the game when it leaves, and the token will never come back. You cannot, however, phase out the enchantment to prevent it from triggering (a delayed triggered ability can still trigger even if the original source is no longer around).

Whispersilk cloak
or any artifact that gives your creatures shroud...
Unless your opponent has artifact removal, you win.

Wait. The squirrel has no protection. Needle Drop will make you lose the game, and there are a lot better spells than that to kill the squirrel with XP

Sorry, the Squirrel Decks were awesome, but I'd rather lead them from behind than become one myself. Being a Dragon at least puts you out of Lightning Bolt range and your creature token won't be killed by a chump blocker as often.

The basic concept of this type of card is spledidly amazing. The execution was much better on Form of the Dragon. eh, it's Unhinged, so I was kind of expecting that.

Ok, I just made an account to comment on this. I'm surprised no one has mentioned Confusion in the Ranks!
I made a reject rare cube for drafting and won the first emperor game with this combo. After having Confusion out, I played this and gave the enemy Emperor the enchantment and my ally general the token, which he then sacrificed and won us the game.

If this card was legal, I would be soooo happy. Not because, you know, it's a good card or anything (it's so easy to get rid of a 1/1), but because squirrels are so awesome.

What's really funny about imagining a wizard using this spell is that it turns your brain into a squirrel's brain as well, since it stops you from playing spells. So he'd transform himself into a squirrel and then start wandering around looking for nuts or something.

Start by putting down some equipment to give yourself shroud and a beefier squirrel-body and you're good to go, as equipping isn't 'casting a spell'. Then, their only choice is to hit the enchantment rather than set your squirrely self on fire or the like.

sundial of the infinite in play, try to bait somebody into doomblading you or something on your turn. Let the doomblade resolve, so the squirrel is gone, and and then end the turn while your loss of the game delayed trigger is on the stack.

You can now be essentially a ghost squirrel with all the same enchantment effects but no achille's heel quirrel body to worry about. BWUAHAHA

So apparently, according to the ruling on this card, it can leave play, but as long as the squirrel token that is produced by it is still on the field, you won't lose. So... does that mean that when the enchantment leaves play, the token becomes just a plain ol' 1/1 squirrel token with no abilities? Since all of the errata is on the card, and not the token. For that matter, what would happen if an opponent flickered this enchantment, thus producing TWO squirrel tokens under your control? The card says that you cannot be chosen for a spell or ability by the opponent, but it says nothing about the card itself having that same protection. And what would happen if one of your tokens die, but the other is still on the field?

On a side-note, this card seems to have been made for stylish wins. Which is already pure awesome. Some ideas I had were playing Jhoira of the Ghitu, then using her ability to suspend Worldfire, then suspend this card. When the suspend counters are used up, everyone loses all permanents, hands, and their life is 1, while you have an enchantment coming in immediately after giving you a 1/1 creature to attack with =). Another idea might be attacking with Master of Cruelties, and then swinging in with your squirrel token next turn for game.

To truly appreciate this card, zany combos need to be played with it. And when those combos do succeed, even if only just once, it will provide amusement for many, many days to come when telling the story of that match =)
