Another "must have" mana fixer thats going to cost an arm and a leg to get a play set of. I like it, don't get me wrong, However, its 1 CMC short of being truly balanced. Should be either legendary, 4 Cmc or "Enters the battlefield tapped" and id be more happy with it. Gives me the same kind of feeling that cavern of souls gives me, I just thinks its a bit much. But most of RtR is a bit "much".

Far and away my favorite card of the set (gee, can you tell I'm mostly EDH?)
The extra value this gives to lands like Diamond Valley or Boseiju, Who Shelters All is totally worth the 3-
The extra mana rock is really just icing.

My only regret is that this, unlike my beloved Darksteel Ingot,
will inevitably become the victim of Spot Removal.

Also, this is way more useful than Ingot in monocolored decks.
This gem isn't just for 5 color decks, guys ;)

Please do note that Prismatic Omen had a similar effect for cheaper, though this does also accelerate. It's definitely not without precedent and I wouldn't say it's too far out of line, either (consider omen + Arbor Elf for a similar effect at the same cost). Making it available to everyone, while awesome, was a necessary move given how multicolour-heavy Ravnica traditionally is. All in all, this card should do its job just fine without being too overbearing (remember that two-colour decks are going to be the most common, in which case land fixing for two colours without this isn't even too strenuous)

It's amazing how quickly folks commented on this card and (mostly) expressed great praise for its EDH versatility and benefit - I agree that this card deserves high accolades.

It increases the value of each of one's lands tremendously - with this in play, all your lands have at least the functionality of Command Tower and can be used for much greater tactical versatility than otherwise.

Now, all color combinations can have access to a card with Joiner Adept's special ability.

Almost every multicolored EDH deck out there already runs Darksteel Ingot. Unless your playgroup is literally overflowing with artifact destruction, the extra ability on this artifact will be much more useful to you than the indestructibility on the ingot.

Between this artifact, Cavern of Souls, and Command Tower, Wizards has really been giving a lot of cool toys to multicolored EDH decks.

I am thinkings that this artifact is not so amazing for the Mono-Black contolo decks that me and my brother Olhov has be playing with the Magics cards. I am not so surprised it is not so mythic. I am novice so I approve this card to go away by the powerful removal spells. Why this card is so good? That I think even non-novice unlike me (and Olhov) will realize it's greatness, but not so much.

Quick rule reminder for people playing EDH: If a mana ability you use would tap for a color not in your commander's identity, it instead taps for colorless mana. In other words, this will fix mana for your commander's colors, but don't even think about using it to tap outside your colors.

Still, insane mana fixing for an insanely low cost. Awesome for any non-mono EDH deck.

@vakyoom; I'm sure people will flame me for this, but how is this not balanced? It's powerful yes, but I have to disagree with all of your "arguments". Especially those about RtR (but thats for another time). I'm not a huge fan of a lot of it myself, but that's mostly because I don't really care for the guilds or their "abilities".

Legendary? if it was 1 or 2 cmc less.
CIP Tapped? if it was 1 or 2 cmc less
4 CMC? If it was an uncommon or even common.

You have a right to you opinion, which I'm sure the majority shares, but this is just mine. Then again I like to turn 1 or 2 Jin-Gitaxias/Iona so maybe I just like broken things =)

Note: My only problem with Cavern of Souls is I don't have any; and at $25 I probably never will. Unless they drop in price substantially when it cycles out of standard.

@Hylebos; I wasn't that interested in this for my decks until I read your comment; how did I forget my slivers?!?! This plus Gemhide Sliver + Quick Sliver an Dormant Sliver; yes I'd like to cast my library at the end of your turn thank you =) My brood needs this...now I just need to make room in the deck for some, lol.

I think its safe to say that this Standard season is the greatest ever seen in terms of mana fixing. Don't think so? Ravnica Shocklands, M10 Duals, Innistrad Duals, and this gorgeous piece of cardboard here. Honestly, the only way to make it better would be for Wizards to say "Hey, what were we thinking? Just play what you want, forget about colours."

★★☆☆☆ (2.8/5.0) (2 votes)
This card is really extraordinary. It can ramp any color deck to 5 mana on turn four, letting you spring all kinds of great cards a turn early, like Wolfir Silverheart, Thragtusk, Thundermaw Hellkite, Tamiyo, the Moon Sage, Curse of Death's Hold, Vorapede, etc. For a non-green card to allow you to get out a Thundermaw or a Tamiyo or a Curse of Death's hold a turn early is awesome. Of course it also fixes your mana colors, so you could actually play such 3UU, 3BB, and 3RR spells in the same deck and have a good chance of casting whichever one you need. This card could actually make grixis control competitive again. And to top it off, it actually synergizes very well with cards like Evolving Wilds and Desolate Lighthouse, because they can now provide colored mana. This really boosts Evolving wilds in particular because early game you can use it as a fixer, but late game if you already have your lantern out you don't even need to sac it; you can just use it for whatever mana you need immediately. Thanks to the lantern, it's even better than a dual land at that stage.

tldr: ramp, fixing, synergy = 5/5 in my book. I love this card!

I love this card for EDH. Just the other day my friend plays a blood moon with a smug look on his face (I had I think 1 basic land turn 4, with like 3-4 non basic as a Ghave general.) and I play this. I never even needed to counter his blood moon!

EDH gold, 5/5 for that format at least!

This card is on the verge of being able to be called a 'strictly better' Joiner Adept. There are enough differences that you could say it's apples and oranges, but essentially, you're running either of them to fix your landbase. But if your landbase doesn't need fixing, what are you left with? A 2/1 creature that's for all intents and purposes vanilla, or a mana rock. Rarely would I want the 2/1 creature over the mana rock (at least in terms of EDH, which is the most likely place you'll see this card).

Throw in that its colorless (that is, can be used to fix *any* deck) and you've got a real winner.

Running four of these along with evolving wilds and some dual lands would make a five color deck quite do-able. Maybe those Conflux cards will come in handy. Domain is also looking pretty good next to the Ravnica shock-lands seeing as how they're two land types at once.

So stupidly good it singlehanded outdoes EVERY 3 mana mana-fixing artifact ever. It not only turns all of your lands into free Rupture Spires, but it's a Manalith to boot.

In short, bad card, a horrible display of power creep, and commits the unforgivable sin of making Darksteel Ingot look BAD.

A rare 5 stars from this rater. Wizards wants you to believe that this is for Dimir so you can actually cast their spells, but this is...it's just so...it just completely removes the whole aspect of the game that is color restriction. Suddenly you can play 5 color cards with 8cmc value for 5cmc. And it's an artifct that can be tinkered in a door to nothingness deck. So that's something.
Eluem

Wtf wizards?

1) I thought you guys said you weren't going to use rarity to balance power anymore and just use it for complexity. This card is simple. It's an enabler. It's going to cost tons of money because it's simply good and goes in many multicolored decks. Uncommon at best, definitely not rare.

2) This would have been fairly costed at 5... (maybe 4) this would force it to compete with gilded lotus, and rightfully so. Drop something for 5 that gives you black lotus capabilities, or make all your many any color. Are you looking for mana ramp + some color fixing, or infinite color fixing? Depends on the deck.

Conclusion:
Wtf wizards!?!?! Please stop breaking this game. I love magic, but time and time again you print truly unfair cards at rare/mythic rare... making the game entirely PAY TO WIN... not pay for customization. You also make any chance at developing an interesting deck nearly impossible. Everyone just builds stupidly fast and broken decks. I miss old magic, where interesting deck builds were at least remotely viable.

Huh, I just noticed the lights in the picture are the three non-DImir colours. Nice flavour.

I can see why they justified its existence though. It seems amazingly good at first (I can play any colour in any deck!) but it becomes a single card crutch, and that can be exploited. If you start to build your deck according so that no longer becomes a problem, you end up with a typical rainbow deck anyway.

There are things it doesn't outdo too. Manalith was always terrible, let's not joke about that. But Darksteel Ingot still has use for being indestructible, Coalition Relic works wonders with charge counter based cards, Scuttlemutt is still a creature with colour affecting properties, Spectral Searchlight has multiplayer opportunities, Vessel of Endless Rest can get rid of pesky graveyard recurring...

Yes, I did just search through a load of mana fixing cards (found some good ones too - Star Compass is totally underrated), but I don't really think that this thing obsoletes them. It's definitely rare worthy for what it does, but it's hardly a cash grab game breaker.

Neat with Depletion Lands from mercadian masks. You can use them to get this out t2, but then you can tap them for normal mana after getting a free turn of ramping.

It's fun to make a deck out of this and all of those cards that steal cards from the opponent and allow you to play them.

This is also really fun in mono-green to use all kinds of things..

In EDH this is an auto include in anything save mono-colored decks, and next to sol ring is one of the first cards I put in any of mine... 5/5 For EDH

Caveat emptor, this has no purpose anywhere except EDH and maybe a few casual decks, so don't invest if you just play Standard (And really don't if you just play eternal) 1/5 Elsewhere

Why have mana when you can have EXTRA SUPER FIXED MANA?
I think this could have said "You may use mana as though it were mana of any color." Then I would like it a lot more. Although this way gives Sorrow's Path meaning.

Very appropriately curves into Chromanticore.

Please understand that "strictly better" doesn't mean that the card is better in every situation possible. If you know your opponent has an Eye for an Eye when you're at 3 life and he's at 2, Shock is better than Lightning Bolt. That doesn't make Shock not strictly worse than Lightning Bolt. This card is indeed strictly better than Manalith.

It looks like it was made for edh, but it's pretty much unplayable outside of casual edh. If you have a competitive deck you will have good lands, so the first ability is pretty irrelevant most of the time. Without that, it's just a darksteel ingot without indestructible, which is bad. The people in the comments here are way too excited for this card. Comparing this to Sol Ring? Are you insane? This card is only playable in 5 colors deck, if that. When I pay 3 for a mana rock, I expect it to be closer to Basalt Monolith in power level.
