This new infest mechanic is going to be crazy. This guy is a 3 turn clock for 5 mana, a ssuming you have done nothing any of the other turns. Bonus because you can give him haste to finish the game before your opponent has a chance to untap and use sorcery speed removal.

Would love to see a concrete ruling, but to the understanding of myself, and that of a former DCI judge present at our pre-releaseSarkhan the Mad WOULD be able to use his ultimate to deal poison counters to an opponent, since Skithityx is technically the one dealing the damage if you take the printed text veeery litterally, awesome combo, would love to build a deck around those two, paired with Assault strobe and possibly splashing blue for Distortion strike and possibly some extra proliferation, you heard it here first!

While this card is pretty amazing, it's not gonna be that good in Standard with Baneslayer Angels flying around unless you can get this card out before Baneslayer, but they both have 5 cmc.
Waiting tilll 6 cmc to get it out and strike an unsuspecting opponent isn't a bad idea though.
Regenerate isn't even that good in constructed with so many options of exiling. No one would hesitate to use their removal on big targets such at this guy.

A dragon for ONLY 5 CMC (compare to most with 6 to 8), may pay a black to make haste, AND regenerate, is a treausre, a pearl among the sands.

I was lucky enuf to pull a Skittles a pre-release however he got infected and proliferated to death which I thought ok I'll let him die then regenerate him and remove the counters! My opponent disagreed so I let him stay dead but I wonder was I right or my opponent?

Feebit, I think you fundamentally misunderstand what regeneration does. Regeneration replaces creature destruction, so it never happens. Read the reminder text on a regen creature: it says the next time this creature would be destroyed, it isn't, tap it and remove it from combat.
The creature with regen would die to -1/-1 counters even when trying to regen because it would always regen with the counters on it, killing it immediately again.

This is what a mythic rare should be. Big, flashy, and exciting for all types of players. This guy will tear up just about anything, and very quickly, for a very fair and playable price. He absolutely has be be taken care of, and with Path to Exile gone, that's going to be harder than ever to do in standard.
Also, I love the nickname "Skittles." Not only is it cute, it's so much easier to pronounce than "Skithiryx."

When a creature has zero or less toughness it is put into its owner's graveyard as a state based effect, it's not a sacrifice or destruction, regenerate won't protect you, Tajuru Preserver won't protect you. Really it's the same type of effect as when a player loses the game for having no life.

Is it stupid to play an infect deck without this guy? like I have one, and I'm considering trading him for Dragonmaster Outcast for my Naya aggro, but im making an infect deck currently. Anyone else think he looks more like a Zombie than a Skeleton? Very powerful creature, however I can't say I entirely agree with its mythic status. (I can kinda seewhythough.) Regeneration is extra useful on a creature with infect. The Haste ability doesn't really make much sense though, not only color-wise; if you put him out with only 5 mana he'll be attacking the next turn anyway, and after that it's useless.
An infect deck can do perfectly fine without him, but having one certainly won't hurt... you!

better in EDH than standard. infect looks to win on turn 3 or 4 and they don't run ramp in order to save room for creature buff or other cards like vines of vastwood or assault strobe. he doesnt swing till turn 6 usually. however, amazing in draft or sealed.

Just the guy. . . . . . er dead flying lizard to finish the job your necropedes plague stinger and ichorclaw myrs begun. evasion? check. haste? check. resilience to a good amount of removal including lethal damage? check. throw in an accelerant like ancient tomb or dark ritual for legacy, and everflowing chalice plus a good proliferate system for standard, and you can really watch this sucker fly. and the flavor. . . there is nothing to not love about a skeleton dragon legend that kills using the sexiest mtg wincon known to man :-)

If they tap out they die. you can one shot people with a Lashwrithe with ease. Or just two shot people in control builds. And when you just take a look at the card as a whole, with the infect mechanic, and cost. Skith is such an efficient killing machine it's unreal. I seriously don't understand why we didn't see more decks built around him in standard. Between the raw power and efficiancy, and catching the flavor or Phyrexiain one solid piece I have to give this guy 5 stars.

My only complaint about him is that he doesn't have forelimbs. But that's a small price to pay for such a good card.

Another example of taking a set mechanic and plastering it over as many facets of the game as possible.
This card combines the MTG trope of legendary dragons with the trope of Drudge Skeletons, with the new Infect mechanic as a rider on the whole package. As an added feature, they made this card yet another non-red card with the Haste mechanic; haste on black creatures is generally found on efficient, hard to kill black nasties like Bloodghast. The last time we got a black dragon was also one of the last times we got a dragon with haste and regeneration! Remember Hellkite Overlord?

EDIT: Ahh, I see now. he looks a lot cooler now that I see he has front claws. And also, tried BU Infect Standard; decently playable but you need a good balance of Infect, Proliferate, Removal, and Counterspells to punch through, whereas Green can go straight Aggro infect.
That being said, Hatred, Batterskull, Argentum Armor and Lashwrithe are amazing with him. "what? Now I only have to deal 10 commander damage? OH, HOW MARVELOUS!"

That's right, I don't like infect.
This card combines the MTG trope of legendary dragons with the trope of Drudge Skeletons, with the new Infect mechanic as a rider on the whole package. As an added feature, they made this card yet another non-red card with the Haste mechanic; haste on black creatures is generally found on efficient, hard to kill black nasties like Bloodghast. The last time we got a black dragon was also one of the last times we got a dragon with haste and regeneration! Remember Hellkite Overlord?

This guy pretty much is the iconic Black Dragon in MTG now. By DnD standards, theoretically all Black Dragons should be Poisonous...and he actually is.
Red: Shivan Dragon
Blue: Keiga, the Tide Star
White: Eternal Dragon?
Black: Skithyrix,, the Blight Dragon
There aren't really any iconicly GREEN Dragons that are just Green, but we can cheat and count Rith, the Awakener.
How about Jugan, the Rising Star for green?
