Looks like a potential first pick in drafts. It's basically removal when you cast it, and then when it rebounds you get basically an unblockable creature.

I see the reason why they set this card up as they did. While the two abilities contradict each other, they instead make a card that has increased versatility. you can use it as removal if you can/need too, and it also acts as a pump that can allow you to get that extra little bit of damage through, which is particularly useful for black aggro decks. Plus, it allows you to use it Eldrazi Spawn tokens or Plant tokens, which are 0/1 and otherwise wouldn't be able to kill anything, even with deathtouch

Combat tricks are always fun, and this is a goody.

More power with your death touch means you can kill two more of the creatures blocking it.

Wasn't great for me at the prerelease, but when I needed it, it practically saved the game for me. Getting your Eldrazi gang-blocked stings much less when you play this and kill all (rather than some) of the creatures blocking you.

This is great for killing creatures you can't target or are monstrous. I adore this card.

I feel that this is finally a giant growth in black and... it feels good. The +2/+0 actually allows creatures with zero power like a defender to still kill the opposing creature (deathtouch doesn't work if it doesn't deal at least one damage). I like this.

i dont see so much usefulness in the +2/0 part if its getting deathtouch anyways...

Another interesting thing you can use this for is bluffing. Whether or not you have it in your hand, if your opponent has seen you playing it in a previous game, you can attack in ways your normally wouldn't. If you have it in your hand, they either won't block, and you'll get free damage; or they do block and you can kill their creature. If you don't have it, you can still take a risk and attack when your normally wouldn't.

Hell, you don't even need it in your deck, if you're playing black. Not that I'd recommend it, but if you're down to the wire and need to sneak in a bit more damage to win, you can attack and the mere existence of this card in limited will at least make them think.

Very fun card, and quite good. Having one in your hand will give you so many options.

I don't know if everyone understands, but this card is really good. Combine with prey's vengeance or irrestible prey and any first striker. You get two turns of creature gets +4/2 and if its blocked it instant kills the opposing creature with its death touch. Only costs 2 mana to play them together, and would be great for an aggro deck, or a white/black weenie deck among others.

Consider using this on sejiri merfolk, in a w/u/b deck.

Instant power-up and combat trick. Great card. 4/5

The +2/0 effect is useful when rebounded, making your opponent think twice of whether to block or let it through.

Regardless of contradictions the fact is you're getting pump, deathtouch, and rebound for ONE mana at instant speed. That's not just powerful control that's freaky control. If someone plays it, especially in Black Eldrazi with Spawn tokens, they're going to keep a lot of ground fatties at bay and that can only buy more time to get the huge double-digit beatsticks out.

It's Black's Lightning bolt, imho flamers be damned, I'm standing by it. Scary if I'm facing it in a game and about near a required card in most black builds.

I can't undestand why this is rated lower than Vampire's Bite. I personally feel that more damage for the same mana and the deathtouch ability are way better. Of course lifelink is pretty neat as well but that kicker cost is rarely played.

Now Chimney Imp can truly rule the skies! When I have it on the field and I attack, it can take down that darn Storm Crow. The greatest battle of all time has finally been won.

Great card. Gives your opponent a choice between losing a creature or not blocking your +2 creature. That's a situation that feels very black.

the reason it pumps up your creature and gives it deathtouch is because of the rebound. use it as a combat trick and next time they ain't blocking, so you do two extra damage. great idea, great card.

Love this card, hate the fact that I ALWAYS draw it next to my Vampire Nighthawks. WTF, deck? WTF?

This card is so great. The reason the +2/+0 is there for those who are wondering is in the case of multiple blockers, you can deal 1 damage to each blocker and kill them. For example if I cast Stormblood Berserker without damaging my opponent it's only a 1/1 but it has to be blocked by 2 creatures so you can use it to get bloodthirst or your other creatures. If your opponent does block it with multiple creatures then you cast this bad boy and kill both their creatures.

The downside of this card compared to Giant Growth is that it will never save your creature, only kill your opponent's. It can't be used to counter a burn spell cast on your creature either.

Since it's either a kill spell or a 2/4 damage burn spell, it does indeed seem much more similar to Lightning Bolt. It's easier to kill a big creature with this card, but the Bolt can kill creatures that don't block you, as can Doom Blade, and neither of these two cards require a creature to deliver their effect.

Overall I think the above cards are better, but the art is awesome, so I'd give it a 4/5.

@Arostorm, for 1 blue storm crow would have an unsummon up his sleeve.

At Black? Dayum, that's scary. Dropping it on anything with First Strike becomes a frighteningly effective killspell, and when it rebounds, they will not want to block your Black Knight with much of anything.

Pretty nice for limited. Especially if you have a way to give it first strike.

Love the flavor of this card. Great name, great artwork, very cool and versatile effect. Cards like these make MTG what it should be.

Targeted rebound spells like this are fantastic with heroic cards from Theros.

Cast this on Agent of the Fates for instance, it certainly won't be wasted despite the redundant double deathtouch.
For just one mana, on your current and the next turn, you'll get a 5/2 and get to diabolic edict (verb) your opponent.

Oh no, it eats a creature in order to act as removal! If only there were 0/1 weenie generators in-block...
