OMG GUYS if you play this card with 4 doubling seasons and a gilderbairn with some kind of tapping artifact on it you can tooootally do 32 damage to any creature that only costs 14 times the smount of mana that doom blade does!!!!!! HOLY SHNIKIES!!!

This seems to me to be a clear case of touching a powerful ability while wearing a fullscale hazmat suit.
- It's a legend, even if it's not really flavorful at all (at least give it a proper name!)
- It has a kind of semi islandhome.
- It's utterly worthless in combat and not even that good as a blocker.
- It's not boltproof.
All this to offset what is a good but not ridiculous ability.
Printed today, this would probably have a name, still be a legend, be mythic, be 4/4, have islandwalk and swampwalk, and put -1/-1 counters on all creatures except itself.
Not a bad creature for its time. Its got okay toughness to block a few things, and it can wither away their entire army!

The reason this is a legendary, is because this is a reference to Hel's ship Naglfar, that is made entirely of the fingernails (and toenails) of the dead, which will sail out against the Aesir at Ragnarok, in Norse mythology.
