Say it with me, now:
VALAKUT RAMP!

Just fantastic late-game. Truly THE one-drop mythic. If it can live.

I have my hopes up for this little pariah. Having two copies of Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle, I want to secure myself a couple of these, get to 6 lands quickly, and yell "EFF YOU, I'M A DRAGON!"

This is great. 5/5 every turn after turn 4(with Harrows and such) is awesome. Plus Swanland's art is amazing.

one mana card that late game produced a great deal of card advantage. i love it, and tho i will never seek them out i will gladly play it

This card has potential, definitely a 2 of in my Grixis control (this is a win con that lets you have untapped lands to protect it), already kicking ass in my new Naya deck together with the new Loam Lion, Wild Nacatl, Scute Mob and Ranger of Eos.

Im giving a try to Summit Apes in that Naya aggro deck too.

It's mana cost makes it unplayable in most versions of Landfall ramp, but it still has a good potential spot in Naya Midrange where dropping two after a ranger immediately when you have 6 mana to play them all, and have the ability active can sometimes mean an auto win.

Mythic Cards like these are designed for noobs and to p*ss off the older MTG audience. Making cards Mythic Rare used to be they were good (with a decent mana cost), now Rarity is meaning they get to be stupidly strong!

Wow, this little bugger screams "KILL ME NOW!" way louder than Scute Mob. Scary. I love it. 5/5

A tiny creature that is extremely fragile, easily snuffed out by, well, anything that can do a measly 1 damage. Unlike the Dragon Broodmother, this little guy only triggers on your upkeep, meaning your opponent has much better chances of neutralizing the threat it produces rather easily. It's a very, very mediocre Mythic, in my opinion, at least compared to the likes of Sharuum the Hegemon, Baneslayer Angel, any planeswalker, or even something from it's own set, like the Admonition Angel. It serves absolutely no purpose except to maybe trigger a dragon drop late game if it survives long enough.

Could squeeze it's way into an Eldrazi Green? Using Rootbound Crag and a few fetches of course.

This card is great, but best of luck keeping it tell you can use it with all the creature removal in Zendikar.

Aside from the obvious advantage of having a 5/5 flyer every turn, it's worth pointing out that you can use him to make your opponent use up his kill spells. Then you can drop, I don't know, Hellkite Overlord or something and not worry about Terminate killing him before he does anything.

@AXER: Yes, this card is potentially very powerful. However, as several people already pointed out, it dies to any zap except color-specific ones. And given how much removal there is in Standard right now, it probably won't see a ton of tournament play, outside of maybe a Valakut ramp deck, for which uses relatively few creatures anyway.

This card is epic! I love it! i could put this in my R/U deck or mabey one of my 5c decks... the options the options what to choose what to choose... i know that i want one in my R/U deck to help with the Spellbound Dragon so if i can get it in there it's now a very easy win!

>>> I'm running him in a multiplayer deck with Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir with ways to give him shroud like Whispersilk Cloak and Diplomatic Immunity. Cast him right before my turn when I've got 6 or more lands already? Hell yes! <<<
Both cards you've mentioned are bad cards. Even Lightning Greaves are better!

This card is too good, because it an easy-to-overcome drawback for such a huge advantage. I would even splash red in every counterdeck he could get into, just because it's all to easy to protect him. So this feels more like a flawless bitterblossom replacement for counter-decks... if you can wait a bit until you get that land.

So I wouldn't go ramp, that leaves too much room, just counter-pass and win.

From my point of view this thing rarely survives to put a single token into play, wake up! scute mob + this = day of judgment on opponents turn (or martial cup or chain reaction).
Assuming you are able to put 6 lands into play and one of this and get it to survive, are you going to tell me you have whispersilk cloak or for each dragon token?
Also, this little 1/1 with no abilities other than put a 5/5 flier if you got 6 lands on the battlefield on each upkeep does not ensure your victory: a couple wall of denial to block your dragons and you got a 1/1, a 5/5 flier and no damage output.
Ok, with that said: a scute mob can rush a wall of denial, dies in the same agony than this with non targeting mass removals and does not die with a single lightning bolt; why should you pick this then? simple: these guys are splash-able, get a naya deck with 4 ranger of eos and search for the whole playset of this and take it chances they survive to put a dragon into play = 4 5/5 fliers roaring "RAWWWR!!!" and well, another turn of luck and the game is yours.
Please guys, take the metagame in count when rating cards, your assuming your playing against a mono-red deck with 4 lightning bolt as main removals and nothing else. Note that I did not mention any card outside Standard format.
Yeah, this is the kind of this you drop to test you foe's ability to get rid of things. had anyone tested this with Eldrazi monument? eldrazis on turn 5, 3 of these on turn 6, 3 6/6 flying, indestructible dragons on turn 7 and the game is packed on turn 8; of course, if you drop a land per turn, in a R/G deck you can trigger this in like turn 4.
I see this guys as support things and not as winning condition since they are way to fragile, as simple as that.

totally sweet. now you can throw one of these champs down turn 5 (with mana acceleration) or so then toss an umbra on him he's good to go. 5/5. Red blue deck with followed footsteps could also be lotsa fun.

Excellent card. To those of you complaining that's is easy to remove, remember anything other than Lightning Bolt would technically give you the upper hand in terms of tempo. I mean come on, it's a freaking one-drop! That's why aggressively costed cards like this are so good.

The insane thing about this guy is that it is ANY land, not just basic and/or mountains. Pretty amazing card, without a doubt. The artwork makes it all the more incredible.

Oh yeah... he also isn't legendary, so you can drop multiple copies of him and spew dragons out at an alarming rate. Yikes.

Splinter Twin - Oh boy

He is decent and don't forget if your opponent wastes a removal on him (a one mana drop) then cheers for your combo creatures etc. also don't forget about shroud effects and the also one drop indestructibility,
or you can ecven run elrdazi indestructibility for the creeps he spawns.

Me and my friend have a deal that we can each choose one card that the other has and those cards can't be used when we play against each other. I got this in a booster and I'm now allowed to use my Baneslayer Angel. This is a great card. At worst it is a Red in exchange for an opponents removal spell. At best it is a horde of 5/5 fliers. Worth it's mythic status.

Nowhere near 5/5, but can be good if played right.
(i.e. don't drop him turn one and expect him to live)
Try dropping him when you have 5 lands, and then harrow during your opponents next end step. Or even better, wait till you have 6 out, and aether vial him in during their end step.

This is actually a mono blue card.

They made it cost red mana, and gave it a red card border just for lulz.

They even made the spell red so that it gets around Llawan.

But yeah it's blue actually.

I love this card, but i could never get it to work. With the release of m11 and insane ramp like cultivate and primeval titan, this could easily find a home in those nutty ramp deck that have recently taken over standard.

Turn 5-Sweet a 5/5 dragon for one mana!
Can see a problem in edh? Hope you saved some removal (and they don't have counters or give it shroud).
Has anyone run this withAsceticism in a ramp deck? Turn four easy, you've got a troll-shrouded dragon factory.

Lemme see ... how fast can we do this in standard ..
T1: Mountain
T2: Forest, Khalni Heart Expedition
T3: Forest, Harrow (4 lands, 2 untapped), pop Khalni Heart Expedition (6 lands, 2 untapped), cast Dragonmaster Outcast if you didn't do it on your 1st turn.
T4: Untap, get 5/5 dragon... Primeval Titan into Valakut?

works great in valakut ramp. Its already the right colors, it's based on ramping out insane amounts of lands very quickly, and what deck dosnt want a bunch of 5/5 flyers?

@murder. Duh, chain reaction isnt even that great a card. Its 3.00 at the most and usually below 1.00. While dragonmaster is almost 3.00 at the cheepest, and almost 10 at the most.

Raymond Swanland is excellent at making art conveying motion. This is a great 1 mana creature that isn't really a 1-drop, which is interesting use of design space. Kudos to Wizards for this one, which is both cool for the casual player, a challenge to keep alive for the seasoned player, and an abusable win condition for the player who plays to win..

I don't know about you, but i like getting 5/5 flying Dragon tokens each turn without paying any mana from a 1/1 one-drop.

Would have been a nice card for Duel Decks: Knights vs. Dragons, but i guess Bogardan Hellkite was the more spectacular choice you'd have wanted to take the mythic rare slot in a dragon deck.

Y'know, if someone uses removal on this, that's a good thing. It only cost you a single mana. Almost anything your opponent can do to it will still leave you ahead. Terror, Doom Blade, Go for the Throat, Terminate, Journey to Nowhere? You've spent a card and a mana; they've spent a card and two mana. Advantage: You. Path to Exile? They've spent a card and a mana; you've spent a card and a mana, and gotten a free land. Advantage: You. Swords to Plowshares? Better, but they're still giving you a little advantage from that one life. And that's only if they have the removal immediately: If they don't, then you get some advantage from this just sitting around. If nothing else, it gives them one more reason to need to hold back blockers, or you'll be able to swing for a few extra points. And if it triggers even once before they manage to remove it (sometimes you just don't draw what you need), then even after they kill it you've still got a big flying fattie that they also need to remove.

The only way your opponent can not fall behind due to this is to either immediately kill it with a red damage 1-drop (Lightning Bolt or Shock or whatever), in which case they're still only breaking even, or to use some sort of reusable pinger on it.

This card confuses the crap out of my inner Timmy. On the one hand, it gives me a 5/5 flying dragon every turn for no activation cost! On the other, the the dragonmaster itself is only a 1/1. How can such a tiny guy be so amazing! Welcome to my Kaalia of the Vast Commander deck, buddy. Your tokens will fit right in.

either one cost removal draw, or a 5/5 every turn (sure, you need the land out). i have 3 of them, and I honestly could care less if he resolves/gets bolted/gets his throat ripped out/gets slashed by a blade of pure darkness or not. its a 1/1 for Red that can make 5/5 dragons every turn. and the artwork is AMAZING! WotC, you need to give Raymond Swanland more cards to draw for. :)

Scout's Warning and this seems very doable mid-game. Although considering R/W is typically reserved for Soldiers, it's seems like a waste of a pretty good card. Aluren might be nice, but it doesn't work on Dragons. No.

Vernal Equinox is what you'll need.

Like Scute Mob, it's an unassuming one-drop that can get very scary if your opponents can't deal with it in time (for twice the fun, try Doubling Season, Parallel Lives, etc.). Strictly casual, but great fun nonetheless and very satisfying to pull off. This is what Mythics should be.
