I like how most Lords give a useful ability not an overpowered one certainly a first!

rating 5/5 to dilute whiners, this card is good, but is only effective when you play a lot of knights which is an awkward proposition, even for white. as long as the opponent has a removal spell (she's not affected by her own ability) you'll be just fine against her

i think its worth a 4/5

@ IshubarashI:

So basically you are intentionally giving this card a poor rating because you think it's too powerful ? Way to go for rationality.

Knights aren't your most convenient tribe to build a deck around, but this card is good and could motivate some players to try.

4 Student of Warfare, 4 Knight of Cliffhaven, 4 Knight Exemplar, 4 Kabira Vindicator, and 4 Venerated Teacher .
Throw in 4 Time of Heroes, 4 Mana Leak, 4 Divination, 3 Path to Exile, and your choice of planeswalkers.
Play halimar depths, glacial fortress, and celestial colonnade for the blue mana.
You got yourself a really good knight deck. Really easy to make too.

I like the card; I was wondering when they'd make a knight lord. It seems strange to put it in a set without a lot of knights though, while soldiers don't get a lord.

I'll retract all the hate I spewed out and leave my complaint at this: I could take this card seriously if it was a legendary, but no, it's a 3 drop first striking knight lord with a ridiculous bonus to other knights. I still hold my grudge against white, and while in my mind this card deserves a 0/5 for just being ludicrous, I'll give it a 3.5/5 since it's the first knight lord. But come on, lords are supposed to give useful bonuses, not over power an already too-powerful color. and being that it costs 3 it really wont be hard for a monowhite deck to throw two of these down.

P.S. first

Guys there are a couple of alright knights out there. There's even one with an ability for 3 mana and tap that destroys target creature or enchantment. I don't know just stick a whispersilk cloak on her something. I for one know i'm gonna take a closer look at knights just to see, sure i won't be the only one.

Don't apologise IshubarashI it is ridiculous, but i will say this its only making whites stronger "if its a knight deck". And lets face it Knights could use it cause they ain't that good. Even with indestructability the player would still be vulnerable to trample or swarm wouldn't they? So i don't think its as ominous as it sounds

Geez, this card isn't even that great unless you have two of them on the table. Knights are far from the best creature type white has to offer. By reading your comment I thought I was on the page for Baneslayer Angel

Lovely. She's an excellent Lord who makes Knights a viable tribe.

I think this is the first lord to have an ability for himself (or in this case, herself) aside from the +1/+1 boost and a further specific bonus for the others of the tribe.
I guess they just couldn't leave the Knight Lord without first strike.

Definitely powerful and great fun once you have a second Knight Exemplar on the field.
Removal that exiles creatures will of course still get rid of your stuff, but that's at least pretty restricted in M11.

I also think it was no coincidence that this guy appeared now: Scars of Mirrodin will be the next set afterall, and i guess you remember the Auriok and Leonin having some relation to knights as well?
(Hopefully even the Vulshok will, since i like red knights :D)

★★★★★ (5.0/5.0) (5 votes)
@IshubarashI: It's not even the first Knight lord. While Kinsbaile Cavalier might not be exactly your standard 3mana "tribe X gets +1/+1" it is undeniably a lord.

Knights definitely need more love as a tribe, now if only they'd print cards that made Knight tokens other than Waylay and Riftmarked Knight.

White Knight, Silver Knight, Knight of Meadowgrain, Knight of the White Orchid, Leonin Skyhunter, Knight of the Holy Nimbus, Sigiled Paladin...
All of the above curves nicely into a 3rd turn Knight Exemplar... which again curves nicely into a 4th turn Kinsbaile Cavalier (anyone?). I can see Knights being a pretty good deck, at least in the casual environment - at least considering that Wrath/Day of Judgement becomes a one-sided effect :D

Some other relevant Knights could be Student of Warfare, Moorish Cavalry, Cloud Crusader/Skyhunter Patrol, Kabira Vindicator, Chieftan en-Dal and Knight of Cliffhaven.

For a mono white EDH deck, Tivadar of Thorn could be a nice general, but there's also a whole lot of other Knights in the other colors.

I really like it, I just hope to see in the future some Soldier and Knight Lord combined to make an army-themed white weenie deck (for fun and flavor purposes).
P.S: (Is there some lord like that that I have missed??)

I really like this card both for giving love to a seldom used tribe and for the beautiful art.

I do think however that making knights tribal might be dangerous.
Knight creatures have typically been quite strong and were balanced by not having any tribal backing. this might put that knight deck over the edge. Just recently we have student of warfare, and we still have white knight, and in extended we have all the knights from timeshifted and kinsbaile cavalier.

however that is normal, tribal decks ten to be quite powerful, the thing I think that pushes her over the edge is the synergy between the indestructibility and another of whites go-to spells, day of judgment.

the day becomes one sided and you will most often be able to swing ftw with a board full of double striking knights right after.

I support IshubarashI for rating it low for judging it overpowered- I've always rated cards according to how balancing and fun the card is- I would rate things like Baneslayer low because it's just obscene.

but do I think it's overpowered? Not really. Every color except for green has an answer that isn't far out there and can be used for other things easily. Green just has to rely on out damaging his opponent- which isn't that far out there either.

I WANT THIS.

This with Black Knight make a great combo. Shuts down white exile effects pretty well, even if it is a little mana specific.

Could be run with blue for a lot of white blue protection, though, (as well as venerated for any leveling knights you have) And Sejiri Steppe and Emerge Unscathed could help her out quite a bit.

EDIT: Seth, that isn't that easy to make. Student of Warfare, Celestial Colonnade, and Glacial Fortress are NOT EASY to get a hold of. The rest, yeah, probably. That depends on how much demand there is for this card (probably not much.)

EDIT: Ishubarashl, if she were legendary, that would make her downright AWFUL. She's excellent if there are two of her, because then they protect each other, and you wouldn't be able to have two of her if she were legendary.

I tend to prefer Soldiers over Knights as a tribe, but that's only because there are far more Soldiers to play with. I think this is cool, I hope they're foreshadowing SoM Knights the way Vampire Nocturnus foreshadowed the Zendikar Vampires.

I'm glad for this card. Personally I like to stay away from some of the more common deck archetypes, so I'd prefer to build a Knight tribal deck over a Soldier one any day. I doubt we will see Knights in Scars of Mirrodin though; more than likely this was created for casual and extended play. Once Shards rotates out, and especially once Zendikar rotates out, I don't see this thing being as powerful in standard, but wait a year and see if I'm proven wrong. As a casual player I can attest that this card is worth the slot in the core set, though. I for one am very glad Wizards made this one!

Come now, this is no more powerful than the green or red lords.

Elvish Archdruid: I'm going to go ahead and hardcast Emrakul, the Aeons Torn on turn 4, kthx.
Goblin Chieftain: Who cares if I'm not indestructible? Does that really matter when you're smashing face with efficient goblins at haste-speed?

Granted that the blue and black ones suck, but this is just the incarnations of White's philosophy in lord form: Protect your dudes. Just like the Archdruid and Chieftain are the incarnations of their colors. And it doesn't protect itself AT ALL, so it's still going to die to everything from Lightning Bolt to Doom Blade to Oust. On par or worse than Dauntless Escort, really.

No. White accepts that life ends, but heaven awaits you. Green feels that life is a cycle and you will be born again. Black mages don't care about afterlife and would rather live forever. Blue mages would like to live as long as possible but won't do everything to achieve this. Who wants to stay alive, if you can't see the daylight and you look & smell like rotten flesh and everyone would stay away. Red mages prefer to die but be unforgrtable. Therefore, the indestructible ability is mainly artificial, black and blue... but not white.

I don't like the card. I would have longed for it as the ultimate ability for slivers... with the flavortext:
"Now, even an apocalypse won't safe us."
Much better than the stupid Sliver Legion.

For Knights, I would have enjoyed a Concerted Effort on sticks. As a 3/3 for cmc 3, the knights would have become a real problem. They could have added lifelink, provoke & shroud and skipped fear & landwalk. Maybe even added indestructible, exalted & flash.

It would be great to see a band of flying knights with double strike, vigilance, flanking, shroud and protection.

To all the nay sayers out there who don't believe in this cards power in standard: You're retarded.
Knight Exemplar is a powerful card, a good card. When i play a card my opponent HAS to remove, i look at that as a good sign they're scared of what that card will do.
It is REALLY easy to get two of these on the field. But why stop there? Clone one, or better yet, Rite of Replication.
Also, so what if it dies? Play another one and drop Sun Titan.
I've already made a Bant colored knight deck using all the most efficient knights in standard, and i can drop a DoJ like Heath Ledger popped pills. And then, after i'm done wiping YOUR board, i'll swing for the win.
People who deny this cards power are simply jealous.
People who claim this cards over powered is probably right, but didn't RoE just come out? shouldn't we be used to this?
So fella's if you feel like ripping on a lord, go find Captivating Vampire and chew him out. Watch out for his 'tween' fans though.

On constructed: Right now there are 26 Knights, and while a lot of them are simply unplayable, the rest (Knight of the Reliquary) are really-to-quite good. The sad part is that this card demands heavy White, Reliquary needs Green, and the rest of the good knights playable with this head in the direction of black. Sorry, no BGW tri-land available. Post-Scars, however, the Knight population will have changed dramatically. No more multicolored knights from Alara block, and most likely a swell in white leonin and auriok knights. As of now it's impossible to say whether it will end up breaking into standard.
As for those of you who say that this card can just be removed itself, I remind you that that's one less removal spell that your opponent has in their grip to kill your real threats.
On limited: There're two other white knights, I think, and one black knight. Oftentimes, that means you won't be pumping anyone, but if you can support the double white, this is a great card all by itself. There isn't much first strike in the set, and this card, unmolested, simply puts a stop to pretty much any ground assualt. Just like the other lords, it's not the rare you want to see when you open your pack, but having it passed to you mid-pack is awesome.

A Casual eternal format deck I've been working on:

Creatures:

4 Knight Exemplar
4 Kinsbaile Cavalier
4 Knight of Meadowgrain
4 Skyhunter Skirmisher
4 Caravan Escort
3 Knight of Dawn
3 Knight of the White Orchid
1 White Knight
1 Silver Knight

Spells:

4 Day of Judgement
4 Wrath of God
4 Oblivion Ring

Lands:

4 Emeria, the Sky Ruin
2 Mystifying Maze
14 Plains

Not entirely sure of the mana curve, but it seems like it'd be fun. Maybe trade out the Knight of the White Orchid for Path to Exile for more creature control, as well as Celestial Purge for focused hate.

What do you think? Comments are always welcome. Here's to casual Knight variants! :D

Magic, for the love of... Put the indestructible mechanic away. Even in MIrriadon it wasn't this... common or this broken. No, indestructible dose not get to be this way, it's not a tribal thing, and it doesn't get to be spread around like this. Just no.

I guess this is just white being broken again....
At the very least this should cost eight manna or something to be fair.
Anything in any other color like this would never be this cheap.

I love this card. The design of it, the artwork and the flavor of it all. It's all great.

But I feel like she really doesn't have enough company. There just won't be that many knights to choose from come October if you want to make a nice deck. Well, there might be just enough, but then all of the knight decks will have to look the same because there won't be much to choose from.

Anyway. It's an awesome card for casual play if not for tournament. Thumbs up from me.

Some good knights are going out and Kemba skyguard isn't what I wanted from "flying" knight at all. It's probably best to use Baneslayer Angel as flying or even Cloud Crusader could be still be better than Kemba skyguard. Since it gets +0/+1 and first strike for 1 cmc while losing 2 lifegain.

This card won me good deal of games playing my knight deck when I can just get multiple of these cards out and win the game by itself or with student of warfare. I hope some good knights appear in scars of mirrodin block later though or M12.

Very amazing card, except you need luck in drawing and have to protect it well to get 2 of them out since your opponents will be very eager to use their removal on it. Weak against bounces such as Jace, the Mind Sculptor but I don't see many cards that's good against Big Jace.

Arrogant bloodlord + kabira vindicator + nomads assembly + tons of revival = relentless black/white assault requiring no more than 50% of your nonlands. Add black/white removal and you get an even scarier killing machine that not even progenitus or emrakul will easily survive

also if you combo this with day of judgement paying 7 for an emergency, shes the only thing you lose in a knight deck. That could be game over if you control a potential of at least 10 attack points by turn 7 while running white creatures.

Very powerful sounds like a lot of fun to play especially from a casual stand point (only type I play). Not unbeatable but very hard to kill especially with two on the field. But coming from a guy that runs one nasty token deck with beastmaster ascension, eldrazi monument, and coat of arms I think I can take it lol. 5/5 though good card.

Awsome card for a knight fan like myself. I say it makes perfect sense. What other keyword would you give knights? First strike? Most of em have it already. Indestructable is a great fit. What was the biggest advantage knights had in battle other than being mounted? Strong, expensive armor. It was tough to kill one. Reminds me of the 4th crusade in...1204 was it?

The first man over the wall of Constantinople was a Venetian marine who got hacked the pieces by the axe wielding defenders. The second man onto the wall was a Frankish Knight. Again, the defenders fell upon this man with their 2 handed axes but the Knight was better armored and stood up and drew his sword. The defenders were so intimidated by this that they ran and this one knight captured a section of the wall singlehandedly.

So yeah, thats how I see it. Indestructable = Good armor = Knights. perfect flavor.

It's not that powerfull either. -1/-1 counters are all over the place and it only takes 3 to kill an indestructable 3/3 white knight, this knight dies quickly to removal and if you like playing games with multiple opponents it's like a big target on your head.

Wow: Knight Exemplar with a bunch of other knights. THAT took you a lot of thought. Now you've got a small army of badass creatures for cheap. You were clearly BORN to play Magic.

I hope the trend of Innistrad stays strong in card and set design. Players should have to think hard and well, and build original combos, in order to have effects like this in play.

To the Gate to Phyrexia rides the Knight Exemplar, her War Hawk perched on her wrist, her Attended Knight bearing a proud Capashen Standard, fluttering in the breeze as she surveys the Tainted Field before her. The Ring of Thune she wears glints in the Serene Sunset as she hefts her Loxodon Warhammer and shoulders her Angelic Armaments, gifts from Avacyn herself.

"Rally!" she cries to her Elite Vanguard. "Rally the Troops, and alert General Jarkeld that this Foul Presence will soon be Purged from the Living Lands!"

Knights are MENTAL.

Throw in Thistledown Liege, Wilt-leaf Liege for extra buffs in mono white. Outside of that there's also Haakon for graveyard shenanigans (hate him with changeling spells), Kinsbaile Cavalier for added punch, Hero of Bladehold and Hero of Oxid Ridge for mass damage and battle cry...

And there's a lot of blue knights with some very silly combos. Knights really can do a lot.
