Why could this not be white? I understand white already has Hero of Bladehold, but I don't want to splash red in my knight deck for just this.
I really like this card. Not only is it a decent attacker, but it's a utility against walls and chump blockers. The only thing that would make this even better to me is if bigger blockers couldn't kill it... oh wait.

Efficiency rather than awesomeness seem to dictate this card's status as a Mythic. It's a constructed Superstar, not an awe-inspiring Mythic.

He's riding a horse made of twisted metal and lava. Mythic status deserved.
Awesome card, very red.

While this does work well with Bladehold, it's a good card on it's own. Massive bomb in limited, even more than his white counterpart, and can see some use, thanks to quite a few goblin cards under his curve. He comes out of nowhere to win the game when he hits the battlefield.

Most certainly the leader of Strike team Alpha. Awesome card that is largely underappreciated atm.

Great card!!! It's well balanced by having a toughness of 2, and anything that prevents chump-blockers or massive walls is a definite PLUS! Also, the artwork is phenomenal!!!

Best friends with Godhead of Awe. Since Godhead doesn't remove abilites, all your creatures with battlecry will hit, and much.

i really dont see why this guy is mythic, i mean.. grizzly bears can kill the sh!t out of this guy and i guess he's good agaist walls but i mean.. really? Mythic because he's good agaist walls? every infect should be mythic then sheesh i can just be a total idiot but i fail why this is good.

Ok thats better... I read over the card 5 times and for the first 4 times I thought it said only creatures with power 1 or less can block ... I was thinking to myself thats not overpowered... then I realized what it actually said... Decent card too

funny how hero of bladehold used to be more expensive than this, oh how the tables have turned!
So obviously this guy's gonna be in a red Battle cry deck. That being said, Battle cry decks are fast; Memnites, Signal Pests, Goblin Bushwhackers and Kuldotha Rebirths abound. So the main weakness of this type o' deck? The fact that your creatures, while usually swingin' with a big amount of power, more often than not have one toughness. Even if they all get +3/+0, a few 1/1 Myr tokens can stop and kill them. That's where this guy comes in. Tough to burn before he gets his hit off thanks to Haste, this dude pops in and contemptuously brushes your opponent's defenses aside without a second glance, lettin' through all your 4/1 tokens to pummel him into submission. Worst case scenario for you, he has to sacrifice a bunch of relatively valuable creatures to stop them, since it's unlikely he'll have anything with enough toughness to survive blocking one of your guys. One of my favorite cards for this set. 5/5
More weenie hate. On the other hand your aggro deck's going to rock when you can battlecry and prevent their early game chumps from blocking. If he weren't double red he'd go great with mana elves for some turn 3 shenanigans. Any 'ol weenies might work but I want to see it with elves.

I know its not the most popular part of the format currently, mostly due to Jace & Black Sun's Zenith floating around. But I get the feeling that people will be playing these blazing fast Scars block decks for years to come. A lot of decks (especially in casual world) can take till turn 3 or 4 to set up, and this guy just ensures massive death if you haven't done much by turn 4. Even if you did manage to survive the rush, a simple Panic Spellbomb or Concussive bolt can just mean absolutely miserable doom.

i pulled this and a holo bonehoard in the same pack. best pack since the primetime titan and a holo armored ascension. but five stars. this guys a bomb. didnt realize how much of a bamf this guy was till i played with him. just how i like my bombs. cheap to play. lol
I bought 2 of these for my KRed deck, the only issue is that it's tough to hit 4 mana. It's usually game though after he hits.

The fact that the whole M12 mage cycle (and Snapcaster Mage, that's just frustrating!) can trade 1-for-1 with him hurts a lot. Especially given how useful some of those mages are, meaning it's not unlikely you'll be playing against a few. Still, it's a hell of a card. I'm sure this its life will be long and prosperous.
(See what I did there? If not, look at his hand. If you still don't get it, I give up you're too cool for this nerdy stuff quit playing Magic™.)
To the people who don't think it's good, it's good. Who cares if he often dies the turn he comes down? He's hasted, so you can take your opponent off guard, which is good by itself. Surprise battle cry on a 4/2 body means you should be able to take off a huge chunk of your opponent's life, especially since you can play when they've tapped their creatures or when they can't Doom Blade/Shock him, meaning you'll pretty much always be getting value from this play. Even Hero of Bladehold, while a more consistent card, can't say that. Usually you have to look to the 6-mana range to find that kind of assurance.
And on top of hasted battle cry, which can be crushing, he's + damage per chump blocker they can't use. And this is on turn four, when any deck that would run this card, meaning it has an easy way to get board advantage like lots of cheap creatures and Kuldotha Rebirth, should be poised to swarm their opponent (and just before Day of Judgment if you're on the play). Sure, maybe you'll lose Hero of Oxid Ridge and a Goblin Chieftain or something, but your Memnites and Signal Pests and Goblin Wardrivers are steamrolling your opponent in the mean time. If you haven't killed your opponent that turn or soon after (or put it into Bolt or Grenade range), any deck that would run this would probably have lost anyways. And there aren't many 4-drops in Standard right now that would do as much to seal the game as this.
Plus, even if he gets blocked and killed, he's almost guaranteed to take down whoever's blocking him. Meaning you're still getting a 1-for-1. Yeah, you'll probably trade at a mana disadvantage, but that's not a problem when you consider that you're also getting (surprise) battle cry out of the deal plus stopping your opponent's chumps and walls from keeping them alive/out of burn range.

I had 2 Wall of Denials, 1 Wall of Frost, 1 Guard Gomazoa, and 2 Perimeter Captains out, along with Leyline of Sanctity and a Norn's Annex. It was only a matter of time before my opponent decked himself. "Nothing can pass this defense!" I thought...until he played Hero of the Oxid Ridge and killed me. :(

@Lyoncet As disgusting as it is that you're pointing out the reference yourself, you've neglected one thing. That is not the Vulcan salute. Fingers are positioned wrong. Middle and ring fingers are together. So I guess...how was this phrased? "you're too cool for this nerdy stuff quit playing Magic™." There we go.

Just bought the last pack of Mirrodin Besieged at the store, just because I had a good feeling about it. I got to my rare and it was probably my billionth Cryptoplasm, but I went past it and found a shiny one of these! Going straight into my B/W/R knight deck so he can play with Haakon, Stromgald Scourge and Ashenmoor Liege :)

I need a hero I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night He's gotta be strong And 's gotta be fast And he's gotta be fresh from the fight

Haste is what makes it Mythic Rare, considering what hasty ballte-cry creatures could do in my Battle-Cry deck... but mine is mono white )=
I like him because of his card advantage, but unfortunately, he has 2 toughness, which leaves him vulnerable to spells like Geistflame or Shock. Still, 5/5

This is Hellrider #2 in Kaalia of the Vast EDH.
What? You say that non-Demon, non-Angel, non-Dragon creatures don't belong in Kaalia?
Please come back to me after you have played a game where you activated Vault of the Archangel with these Red Monsters out. Any format is fine, Commander, Standard,...not really picky here.
Oh, and if you're not playing with the VAULT in Kaalia, you really are just doing it wrong, sir.
EDIT: needs a Carter Slade (Old West Ghost Rider) alter. Very badly.
