Needs a higher toughness.

The toughness kills it (literally) all to often... heck... Prodigal Sorcerer trumps this guy! I lost a lot to Spikeshot Goblins. However, if you can get it tougher, and meaner, it's a beast!
To be honest though, the only reason I don't have 4 in my cat-equipment deck... is that I only own 1 lol!

To bad cats and knights don't have a +1/+1 lord, white does however have +1/+1 enchantments in abundance.

@tommy9898; cats do however have a +2/+2 lord, raksha golden cub while it is true that the ability is sercomstantial, the leonen of miroden (in wich it is originaly from) were all about equipment and ways of serching for it or inhansing it. thus you can have 3/3 flying double striker for 3 reletivly easly.
@Malnourished_Student In today's format where Lightning Bolt runs rampant, any creature with a toughness less than 3 can't be counted on to not die to damage. Advantage here that it has flying to avoid some combat whenever possible. Combine with Knight Exemplar and Honor of the Pure and you've got yourself a solid attacker.

This+Grafted Exoskeleton equals surprise infect, really, really bad surprise infect. Or do what my friend does: This+Tainted Strike+Giant Growth. You don't block it cause it is 2 whole damage, and then your dead from infect in one hit. He goes in every white deck I make!
A friend of mine thought this was terrible until it had an Ogres Cleaver and a vulshock morningstar, 7,3 flying double strike attacking turn five, not bad. By the way he now bolts it every time I play it :( 4.5/5
This guys is great. 4/5 minimum. Mirran Crusader is more or less the same, except even more fantastic. cut flying for protection from Black and Green? Green saves from zoo creatures, Black from Vamps and Phyrexians. Not to mention Doom Blade & Friends. Just in case people had forgotten that cheap double strike is good. We get it, Wizards. We get it. xD

Equip with anything that has "when equipped creature deals combat damage, X", especially with Sword of Fire and Ice or Umezawa's Jitte, to get double the effect. Turn 4 attack w/ Jitte gets you 4 charge counters. Turn 5 swing with a 9/9 double strike for the win (or just 4 more charge counters). The evasion is key too.

Where does that flavor text come from? Did R&D have some flavor text already thought up that couldn't fit on the finished card?

Now I would like to say this one thing... Not every creature in MTG can be burn proof... So that being said, I think this guy is great... As I've said before I'm a serious fan of white... Alot of people may not see things the way I do, but in my white weenie deck, this guy is my work-horse... I have tried to see if anything can replace him... With no luck might I say... You just have to look at him like he's a red creature in white creatures clothing... Job de***ion.... "Turn side ways, every turn till something kills me..." He's perfect in the deck because weenies run 4 to 8 equips (sword of fire and ice, light and shadows) that can help his offense out... 4.5/5... And if you don't think he's that that good, then we need to play...

Crap just +1 power and thats 4 damage in the air. Honor of the Pure comes to mind. For players on a bigger budget, any of the swords would be devastating.

@ScissorsLizard: It's on foil versions of the card. Tenth Edition was unique in that it left reminder text off of foils, leaving room for flavor text (or in the case of Time Stop, leaving just "end the turn").

I really wish they had given the flying leonin some slick, metallic wings instead of the winged mounts. I feel like I'm cheating my Cat deck by putting this card in there; even now, looking at the physical card up close, it's impossible to tell if it's an actual cat riding this thing aside from the pointy ears that could just as easily be a helmet.

I run this one in an aggressive Flyer/Knights Deck with Honor of the Pure, Celestial Crusader,Armored Ascension, Knight Exemplar, Nobilis of War and Ajani Goldmane - he gets big in no time.
Especially the combo
T3: Skyhunter Skirmisher
T4: Armored Ascension, has gave me a lot of Turn 5 Wins
