I like the idea here, design and flavor. I don't think anything like it's been done before, but hey Magic has a lot of cards. Ties in a bit with the defender theme, in a bad way for it but interactions like this bring a bit of nuance to the set as a whole.

Maybe with this every time you play a black deck in standard, once three swamps are tapped you aren't guaranteed to see a Gatekeeper come down. Vampires are such a brain dead tribe.

Great Flavor text. I feel like that sometimes. This might have a place in MBA, but it's difficult to gauge when Vampire Nighthawk dominates pretty much every black deck-list as a three-drop.

I don't know how I feel about this. He's a pretty solid aggro guy, but he's definitely going to get overshadowed by other solid 3cc vampires such as Vampire Nighthawk and Gatekeeper of Malakir (when he's kicked). But I still like him a lot. And the flavor text is awesome.

Perhaps one of the best type lines ever (vampire knight...eff yes) and a very efficient beater with a very minimal downside in constructed. Vampire Nighthawk 5-8 in many decks.

I thought he was kinda so-so at first, but when I stopped and actually considered it more thoroughly, he really is a damn strong creature! And not only in a Vampire tribal deck. His ability to BLOCK makes him a whole lot stronger than Ashenmoor Gouger for R/B aggro decks. A solid threat for a 3 mana creature. That drawback of his won't be a huge problem. 5/5

Caustic Crawler and/or Pestilence-type effects will protect him from dying to an Eldrazi Spawn token, or any of the red spells that deal 2 to each creature.

I personally like this card. He slots nicely into my Black/White Knight and Day(of Judgement) deck, Knights have the nasty point of having P/T less than CMC. So something that beats the curve is nice, even without the normal Knight-ly-ness of First strike.
As for Chump swarms...Knight Exemplar and a sideboarded Pestilence demon say hello.
Now if only I could give him First strike back *Stares at Akroma's Sword of Vengence*

On constructed: The "destroy" clause is huge here because of Knight Exemplar. Usually cards like this have the "sacrifice" template, but not here. Unfortunately, I don't think that the synergy will be strong enough to break into Standard without a significant increase in Knights in Scars, but for those willing to pursue it here are the creatures with power one or less that you're likely to see in the upcoming standard: Birds of Paradise, Llanowar Elves, Arbor Elf, Joraga Treespeaker, Overgrown Battlement, Wall of Omens, and Spawn tokens from Nest Invader, Kozilek's Predator, and Awakening Zone. These are almost entirely green, so Doom Blade away.
On limited: You're not going to be attacking with this very often in Rise limited, but when you can you're going to smash face and the rest of the time you'll have an awesome blocker. Mid-pack sounds about right.

I always loved when my friend attacked with this, seeing no creature with power 1 or less and then I cast Gilt-Leaf Ambush... you don't even have to care about a clashing effect of a card :P
VegaSecureA brings up a good point. I never really did anything but glance but now that he said something, the art blurs his gender a bit. I have no doubt it's suppose to be male (the face), but damn those are some big pecs. The artist could have been a little less generous with the shadows. O_o

He (obviously a dude, lol) is a beast in my play circle, since most of my friends are Timmies, and so hate little guys.
Onto flavor: This card's so flavorful. I don't think of himself as suiciding, rather, he gets in a huff and abandons you. "HEY MR. PLANESWALKER, YOU WANT ME TO FIGHT AN EAGER CADET? THAT IS SO BENEATH ME!"

This card is hilarious to play with.
i was using it in a casual multiplayer(4-person free-for-all) and i was about to kill a guy with it. he tried to chump block it with his Birds of Paradise without seeing it's ability, i put it in the graveyard and everyone was confused. i picked up the card and said "read it's ability". everyone LOL'd
