Why is this card considered such a poor rare? At the very least it would disrupt your opponent's spot removal.

Having a just a single of these + Indestuctibility and Platinum Angel will not guarantee a win, however, two of these will :P

It does get removed quite often, but consider that its an extra wall between your cards and your opponent. If they only have so many removal cards in hand, they at least have to get rid of this card first. One big downside is that since it gives your creatures shroud the minute you enchant them, you can't enchant anything more than once as long as its on the field.
So that combo stalls time, and only gives you time to pull out something big. It does not give you a definite win.

@Everyone who thinks that 2 of these + Indestructibility + Platinum Angel = guaranteed win, It isn't a guaranteed win. Any m*** removal spell would solve the combo. E.g: Scourgl*** or Planar Cleansing for the enchantments and Path To Exile, Qasali Pridemage, Unsummon, or any removal spell for the Angel. :: they would give each other shroud. and "path to Exile", "Qasali Pridemage", and "Unsummon" all target creatures and artifacts/enchantments. And I'm displeased to be the one to bring this to your attention, but shroud offers protection from any spell or ability that may target the "shrouded" permanent in question. So, yes, 2 Greater Auramancies and a Priveleged Position on the field leaves way for a Platinum Angel to enjoy an extended stay on your battlefield. But it's beyond this point that always starts two sided arguments about whether spells like Scourgl@ss are targeting nonland permanents, and therefore ineffective against shroud, or do A.O.E. spells and abilities circumvent this roadblock?

Mass removal does not target, so shroud does not help.

but indestructibility does prevent destroy effects, so if a creature has shroud AND is indestructible, only non-targeted mass RFG effects will work. Which don't come along that often.
Oh, wait, and force-sac effects. That works too.

OK, SHROUD 101 - Shroud prevents the shrouded thing from being TARGETED... that's it. Shroud will not stop anything that dose not have the word "Target" in the text. For example Wrath of God dose not say "target" so it can destroy shrouded creatures, Now in the case of Greater Auramancy you would need say tranquility or something similar ( like Scourglass).

@ Bauble : Indestructible will keep you safe from everything that has destroy mentioned in the card used by your opponents.
It's not a bad card.
And I agree with Exterion
If you have 2 of these on the table and 2 copies of Privileged Position and can manage to trigger Elspeth's last ability (it can be done pretty fast provided you will be forced to play a green-white-blue deck and will have to make use of Gilder Bairn) you are pretty much set. And since you will be playing with green as well you will pretty much have the fastest mana-generator in game. Add Fastbond and painlands to speed up things rediculously up and things you want are sure to be on the table sooner then later. To add icing to the cake you can put Worship in as well. Put your tactical nukes in position (Wrath of God, Armageddon) and fire away when you are sure nothing bad can happen anymore. Don't forget to play Platinum Angel as well (she plays a crucial role). It wil prevent you from losing when your opponent tries to kill you by emptying your deck faster then his / hers. When played well, you can only be harmed by mass bounce (blue) and mass enchantment destruction (green / white). But it means your opponent has to tailor-make a deck against this type of deck. And no one likes to force him / herself to make such a thing.
So in short 2 of these, 2 of Privileged Position, 1 of True Believer, 1 of Worship and 1 of Platinum Angel all on the table, should be guaranteed win if your opponent doesn't play with mass bounce or mass enchantment destruction (or didn't pay close attention when he or she needed to counter the spells).
I call this style "NORAD / Cheyenne Mountain, with nuclear warhead armed LGM-30 Minutemen in silos targeted at your opponent". Fun for the whole family ! :D

let's say they naturalize it? Then they spend 2 mana and a card to remove 2 mana and a card. It's not incredibly good, but it dies to removal is a pretty lame argument. 3.5/5

works fantastically with control magic decks, because instead of gettin a creature that can be taken back with any Naturalize or Demystify effect you're getting a creature that has shroud and cant be taken back by such effects. excellent when you use cards like abduction, it can't get burnt to death and then returned
It works extremely well having Greater Auramancy out with Privileged Position and the rest are just insurance..

Run an all enchantment deck with few creatures, and just get two of these out. Both of the enchantments will protect each other. And make sure to run a few Sigil of the Empty Throne for a crap ton of angels and run a few Mesa Enchantress for card draw. O-Ring is a must obviously. Don`t run enchanted evening if your going to run TARGETING enchantments like Oblivion Ring,Journey to nowhere, Guard duty, etc.
In some video games, the school of High Magic specializes at those spells that deal with magic itself. Things like extending durations, increasing spellpowers, etc.
"Greater Auramancy" feels a lot like High Magic - a sort of spellcraft that helps out other enchantments, which in turn do something that affects the physical world.

@bluemaxx "IMO, Auratog don't like this card"
Auratog doesn't care if your enchantments have shroud. Sacrificing an enchantment for Auratog is a cost: it doesn't target anything, and doesn't even use the stack. You can sacrifice an enchantment that has shroud.
The same happens commonly when you have only one creature in play, with shroud, and your opponent casts Diabolic Edict on you: you are targeted, but your creature with shroud isn't, and you can (and must) choose it and sacrifice it because you have no other choice.

Channelblaze's remark would be correct for every card in the game. If a card sucks just because it dies to removal, there are only two creatures I can think of that would be exempt from the "dies to Doom Blade so it sux" mentality without any sort of assistance:
Norin, who pops out of existence every time somebody casts a spell.
Germ tokens, because they die instantly if they're not equipped or being buffed by a world effect.

A very high pick card in any White-X Voltron EDH deck. All of the Powerpuff Girls Angels can find pretty good uses for this, 'cept I'm not sure about Gisela- I mean I just think she'll be killing people w/o even needing to be enchanted...but yah. dis iz wut a good card looks like :P
Imagine running this in a Bestow deck. I would, but this thing's 8 bucks a pop. A real shame.

This card works wonders in my deck, where each creature gets a single enchantment. Also keeps people from naturalizing my Oblivion Ring. I can see how it would do badly in a deck where you plan to stack auras on creatures though...
This should work great with creatures with the new Bestow mechanic.

Here's a combo (for casual games) This Greater Auramancy and Sigil of the empty throne Now all your enchantments get you a 4/4 FLYER ! These cards work very well with the new Journey to Nix set especially if you use Cards with the Constellation mechanic.

It isn't a guaranteed win. Any mass removal spell would solve the combo. E.g: Scourglass or Planar Cleansing for the enchantments and Path To Exile, Qasali Pridemage, Unsummon, or any removal spell for the Angel.
