Most of all, Key Walkers artwork is the cream of the crop. Very cute. Her sulky look is adorable, hair style and coloring is also great. And the clothes are just as individual as on Tinker.

lol what seriously, this card seems kind of insane.. play her on turn 2 with a bit of mana accel, and start suspending left and right. A few turns later you can start dropping dragons and godsires and all sorts of craziness.

Would this work with Vamp Hexmage? Can I remove counters from an exiled(suspended) card?
PhagePoker
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
No, if a card is exiled then it's not a permanent, so hexmage doesn't apply.
@Ragamander: Good combo, but yeah, you'd need a total of three cards with a combined three different colors for the combo to work, notwithstanding the fact that you'd have to suspend both of them at the same time, or the whole thing wouldn't work at all.
A combo requiring less cards would be Academy Rector and Kaervek's Spite, with the Barren Glory in your library. Once the Rector goes to the graveyard because of the Spite, you could go and pull out your Barren Glory from your library for the win.
As for Jhoira, she's still fun to use. Remove a bunch of big creatures, then play Pandemonium (one turn before the first big creature hits the board if you want to avoid getting hit by your opponent's creatures as much as you can) or Electropotence (then pay the activation cost each time a creature comes into play) for tons of damage. Insert a Paradox Haze in there to speed up the damage. Also, the big bonus here is that suspended creatures coming into play... have haste!

2 questions:
Could you use her ability to make Enduring Ideal and Eternal Dominion play at the same time and gain the effects of both?
Could you also then use her ability to work around epic spells' "you can't cast spells" clause?
ScissorsLizard
★★★★☆ (4.7/5.0)(5 votes)
@Ipotato: I'm not entirely sure about this, but I'm going to say no. The way suspend works is that it allows you to play the spell without playing its mana cost, it doesn't just put the spell on the stack. Since the Epic ability prevents you from casting new spells, you can't cast the suspended spell- even though it's free and you don't have a choice.
For the same reason, you couldn't play 2 epic spells at the same time using this: one of them would have to resolve first, and the epic ability on that first spell would prevent the second one from being played.

Khias: Dragonstorm would be a good option but only an option you want to put in the fun build. although it seems like a good idea it can easily be beaten and is just not necessary. id say there's leeway for about 15-20 cards in this deck. but the cuttable cards are cards like stifle, impulse, ect... and if your playing a competitive edh deck then you really dont want to cut cards of that power level.

In my U/B/R Suspend I'm really debating on running Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker, Just because of her and Paradox Haze. I mean really, pay {2}, exile Bolas with 4 time counters. I have 2 Paradox on me. Upkeep time: he's at 1 now? oh hello clockspinning :D

Because "cast" is the same as "play" when it comes to spells, you can't use her to get around epic limitations (though perhaps you could use her to cast two epic spells simultaneously, while one is still on the stack?).

Need some help here. So I suspend an Inkwell Leviathan, a Wake of Destruction, and a Dragonstorm. Would I be able to storm the Dragonstorm twice? @MindSculptor : yes, you could storm twice with Dragonstorm, if the spells are all activating on your upkeep, you choose the order. So choose Dragonstorm first, then the other two so they'll resolve first, and you'll get your 3 dragons!
@MechaKraken : yes, you have to exile suspended cards face-up. even if the card itself says "exile (or suspend) this card face-down", since you're using Jhoira's ability, and not the cards actual suspending rules.
@LeoKula : i know, right??? too bad Emrakul was just banned for EDH play, he was gonna make a killer addition to my Jhoira deck.... oh well, still have every other Eldrazi

Her best use is to suspend a blow-up-the-world spell like Decree of Annihilation, then suspend.... well, anything. You become the only player who is playing a spell, because suspend requires no mana.
So many good card combos that can be used with her, you could even play just red/blue and use off colour cards, then use her ability to suspend the card

@Guest513736147 I have been calling her "Jor-uh" although around the tables I play at it's pronounced "threat." She gets Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker out with ease and the 2/2 body in the first 4 turns provides good defense in my grixis deck. Sweet buy in my Animar EDH, 2-of in my grixis deck, and she's one ANNOYING general. 5/5 for epic versatility.

Could you use her ability to make Enduring Ideal and Eternal Dominion play at the same time and gain the effects of both?
Kind of, but the timing is tricky. You have to suspend them both, separated by one time counter, then when the first one's last counter is removed, and the spell is cast, respond by using Fury Charm, Timecrafting, the Timebug, Clockspinning, or Dust of Moments to remove the last time counter from the other one. It casts in response, and both Epic spells are on the stack. Both will resolve, and you'll get both effects each upkeep.
Could you also then use her ability to work around epic spells' "you can't cast spells" clause?
As in, after you have an Epic spell resolved, casting more things with suspend through Jhoira? No. Cards that come off of suspension are still "cast", so "You can't cast spells" stops it.
Decisions, decisions... and that's only considering cards that already have suspend :)

She has a great ability, able to cheat in cards with very high mana costs (Blightsteel Colossus , Emrakul, The Aeons Torn , Gleemax) for only 2 mana. This coupled with her 3 cmc means you can see your end game bombs as early as turn 6 or 7.

I just realized something really strange about suspend... even though its worded that you play the card and not cast the card, the comprehensive rules still say you can interact with it as if you cast it for those of you that don't get what I'm saying, you only "play" lands, and lands cant be countered or responded too, you "cast" spells, which allows you to respond to them and do all that other gobeldy-gook so i don't get why suspend says to "play" the card when the rules treat it as if it where being cast.
Better not go with Manabarbs unless you have more cards in your library than your opponent, because the most likely outcome in that scenario is you both draw-pass-discard until someone decks themselves. Still, it'd be a pretty funny win ^.^

Even though Epic doesn't work that way, she's in the most common copy colors. Reverberation, increasing vengence, twincast, ect. She gives you easily enough time to copy it 3-4 times by the time it comes out, which you can use with epic cards. Searching opponents library 4 times for permanents each turn sounds like fun, paradox haze also seems to be in her colors, make that 8 times.

Her main uses are the follows:
1) Bring out expensive spells
2) Use suspend cards that profit from the effect
either a) Those with high suspend countdown (Nihilith, Deep-Sea Kraken, Greater Gargadon or Heroes Remembered)
and/or b) Those who give a profitable effect while suspended (those are most above mentioned cards, or those with X-cost, being Aeon Chronicler Roiling Horror, Benalish Commander, Fungal Behemoth and Detritivore.
3) Prepare some delayed, but tough storm effects
She also combines nicely with cards that let the suspended cards being cast quicker by removing time counters, such as her timebug, Rift Elemental, Dust of Moments, Timecrafting and possibly Clockspinning, Timebender, Fury Charm or Shivan Sand-Mage - although the latter ones aren't too useful.
Most of all, Key Walkers artwork is the cream of the crop. Very cute. Her sulky look is adorable, hair style and coloring is also great. And the clothes are just as individual as on Tinker.

Unfortunately awkward colors.
