Ugh at this card?! WHY?!
People use the same formula to spam this card, turn 1 and 2 Cloudposts, turn 3, island, turn 4, gilded lotus
then Either planar portal or oanoptic mirror.
I saw at least 4 decks with it in a single day.
And I HATE IT.

10 mana is a lot, and it's very vulnerable to Shunt effects. Still, any game I remember where someone played this card, that person won.

Be happy it wasn't 5 mana for a turn with a Flashback cost of 6.

Two words: game win. Scratch that, I have four, the other two are "Wild Ricochet" :)

This is one of the most absurd cards I've ever seen. I like it.

...In theory. I'd never play it unless in a wacky casual deck. If I had ten mana I'd rather just end the game with Kozilek, Butcher of Truth.

They really ought to use this as a planeswalker's ultimate.

Something like this:

Teferi, Master of Time {1UU}

Planeswalker -- Teferi

+1: Tap or untap target permanent.
-2: Return target permanent to its owner's hand.
-7: Take two extra turns after this one.

My second EDH game with my own deck, one of the other players cast this. I swerve, and after a counterspell clash, I get the extra turns. On the first of them, I cast Conquering Manticore to borrow the same guy's Wrexial, the Risen Deep. They conceded.

An EDH must.

Shame on anyone who lets a blue player live long enough to actually cast this.

Unless it's EDH, of course. In that case, have fun getting your clock cleaned.

EDIT: No pun intended.

Did we really need this ruling? Does it really matter which extra turn you take first...

"If multiple "extra turn" effects resolve in the same turn, take them in the reverse of the order that the effects resolved. "

Well... This seems a little bit like overkill.

@ Guest, if there useing panoptic mirror why do they need time stretch? why not just a cheaper 1 turn card? They get infinite any way...

@Vedalken_Arbiter:
I like the Teferi planeswalker idea, but try this for the second ability:
-1: The next time an opponent casts a spell this turn, counter that spell.

i absolutely love time magic, and though this card may be mana expensive, i usually play it in a deck with Archmage Ascension. normally, when i play this card the game end by my friends giving up.
This card becomes something in the overkill if you use Echo Mage's final ability with it.
I was once playing team-team crossed. They had 26/30 life and we had 1/30 life, we had one tiny creature they had about 5. my turn i get one of these babies and since i had nothing useful in my had, i gave my partner 2 turns after mine.
WE WON! in those 2 turns end. :-3

@Vedalken:
I love the idea of Teferi becoming a planeswalker, but he would have to have something dealing with phasing.

Story-wise, he is currently brooding over the loss of Zhalfir, but I'm sure there wouldn't be much of a stretch to bring him back. Venser and Karn gaining importance in SOM, and being some of the last to deal with him, could be a sign that he'll make a reappearance. -fingers crossed-

him:well ima beat you before you het your 8 turns anyway
me:oh yeah? Counter, now what?
him:-.-

"If multiple "extra turn" effects resolve in the same turn, take them in the reverse of the order that the effects resolved. " Useless ruling? No, there are cards with things like "At the beginning of that turn's end step, you lose the game." such final fortune and last chance. Why would somebody play this and time stretch on the same turn? Idk...

I'm pretty sure that, with a topped-off Archmage Ascension and an Elixir of Immortality, a player can have an infinite succession of turns - and only needs to pay the {8}{U}{U} for this every other turn. It just might be good to have something like an Arcanis or an Archivist in play so that you can get other cards to play.

They desperately need to bring my second favorite planeswalker back, that being Teferi. Please please please!!!! Also, Jaya > whoever the hell that stupid poser is.

I run this guy in my infinite turn deck. It's just stupid good.

And if you're playing control, lasting long enough to get 10 mana is easy, it's just a matter of patience.

Absolutely hate this card. Great art, though. And to those wondering why the ruling exists, it's probably for the copying examples players have mentioned with Echo Mage, not the caster deciding arbitrarily whether his next extra turn was the first or the second granted by Time Stretch. It's so if I copy your Time Stretch, my copy resolves first, then your original spell, but you get to take your turns first. Which is unfortunate; I really wish the player cool enough to copy this lame spell got to take his extra turn first. Then I could encourage him to take out the other guy before he got his part of the effect. Oh well.

from what i read in the time spiral novels, teferi lost his spark. so he won't be returning as a planeswalker, that's for sure.

This is a fun card, and not always inferior to Time Warp as far as Panoptic Mirror is concerned-
if you only have one mirror, you can imprint Time Stretch as well as another spell... say, Violent Ultimatum. Then, trigger Time Stretch on your next upkeep, Violent Ultimatum the turn after that. Then alternate the two spells, taking as many turns as you wish, and destroying as many permanents as you desire. You can, of course, use Cruel Ultimatum or another, more directly damaging spell, but I have more fun annihilating their board before I swoop in for the kill.

Hardly necessary, but it can lead to some fun times.

That's a lot of mana, but if I have two of these in my deck...
turn 10.1: Time stretch
turn 10.2: Time stretch
Now I have basically 3 turns for 10 mana.

I guess 2 turns is more powerful then cloning something 5 times, i.e. kicked Rite of Replication.

Rite of Replication is a serious win condition, even in my creature less BlueGreen ramp deck. Time Stretch will only win you the game if you got board position going on.

Fun in casual, if you are thinking about paying 10 anywhere else than think harder. Every jhoira of the Ghitu EDH should be running this. The newly spoiled Arcane Melee might actually have a use in some casual with cards like this.

I just can't decide witch of the two artwork I like best!!! I love the art and flavor of this card! I'm just going to say it: This card is simple and elegant - even at 10 mana. Nothing says big timmy blue spell better than a Time Stretch.

@Vedalken_Arbiter I think it would be {2}{U}{U} +1 Tap or Untap target Permanent -4 Take two turns after this one -8 You may play Teferi's abilities without it gaining or losing loyalty counters. If you do, sacrifice Teferi.

@ajpinton: The order in which you take extra turns matters for cards such as Final Fortune, which give unique properties to a specific turn. If you play Final Fortune, then play Time Stretch, you need that rule to know which turn ends with you losing the game.

Wow, Vedalken_Arbiter's planeswalker is surprisingly similar to the new Ral Zarek. Differences is that Ral's first effect taps and untaps, his second effect is Lightning Bolt rather than Boomerang, and Ral's ultimate is flippy but essentially the same effect.

Cool card but only for edh. In any other game I would rather just run Panoptic Mirror and Time Warp and boom infinite turns for the same amount of mana as Time Stretch.

In DotP 2013, there is an combo withArchaeomancer, Followed Footsteps, and this for infinite turns.

First, cast Archaeomancer and enchant him with Followed Footsteps.
Then just cast this, and every other turn use the recursion ability from the Archy tokens to bring back Time Stretch. Time Warp works as well, but using Stretch means you only have to cast it every other turn, leaving you open to cast or recur other spells.
