If it's blue damage you're after this is THE card, no contest. I remember I had four of these and four clones in my deck and was versing my friend's classic-red burn (ball lightning, lightning bolt, etc). He blasted me down to about 4 life but then my suspended krakens finally kicked in.

4 Deep-Sea Krakens = 24 damage (unblockable)

Wait, suspend includes haste?!
That's why I hate it when a card doesn't include the full reminder text of obscurer rules... sometimes you miss a detail.

Quest for Ula's Temple (Worldwake) is going to love this.

Just did a Time Spiral/Planar Chaos sealed deck with the Magic club I play with. Between this and Draining Whelk, I dominated.

This and Standstill both go in my "Are you sure you want to do that?" deck.

The only thing I don't like about creatures like this is how easily the opponent knows they're coming. Then they Doom Blade it as it enters the battlefield...

Very pricey version of Tidal Kraken. But with suspend its becomes very playable. The only thing is that you need to build your deck around it to remove the counters more quickly. Maybe Im gonna build a deck centered around suspend at some point.

Doom Blade? It's blue we're talking about. If they have a doomblade ready, you should have a counterspell to deal with it.

If someone attempts to remove it, it's no big deal because you did spend only three mana to eventually play it (as is the case with other suspended creatures). However, this card screams for casual. There's no way in the world you're going to see this resolve on a competitive level - you will be either dead or lock-downed long before it kicks in. While it's out of the game it does absolutely nothing to affect the battlefield state. In fact, this is the problem with virtually all suspend cards, but it's one of my favorite mechanics nonetheless.

Anyway, use it with Rush of Knowledge for draw, and Homarid Spawning Bed if someone wants it gone. You could use counters to cover it instead, but only if you like doing things the easy way.

Also, run in multiplayer.

EDIT: @Dr.Pingas I'm not really complaining, just stating the facts. I happen to own a suspend deck and know by experience how your first three or four turns get severely punished. This is because as far as the battlefield state is concerned, you are doing absolutely nothing - just removing cards outside the game and hoping they would resolve later. Sure, there are combo suspend decks where it is you who does the lock-down, but most of those can easily be foiled with a single selective discard or a counter.

Perhaps I've been too aggressive with my original statement, and don't get me wrong - I bloody love suspend. It's my favorite mechanic and my favorite deck. It's just that I get irked whenever someone plays a Goblin Lackey, Tarmogoyf, or a second turn Iona before suspend is even halfway to kicking in. With those cards around, whatever you do... suspend just can't get competitive enough.

F U Wizards...

The only disappointment is the 2U suspend cost - Greater Gargadon saw much more play because of the R suspend. This would too if it were 1U, and then you'd spend turn three, four, and five trying to Remand and Delay and Venser their stuff while your Kraken travel through time.

@KillerWhisky, this card is more dependent on the battlefield state than most suspend cards, and complaining that they don't have any effect on it is to miss the point of suspend. Much like with morph, it's cool to get an effect from it, but that's not the point at all(although some sort of morph/suspend alt-trap mechanic would be awesome. I suspend this face down for, say, 2-3 mana, then pay the trap-cost to flip it and use it whenever.)

EDIT: I hear what your saying, and sorry for using the word 'complain'; I just dislike it when people's arguments are "this card is bad because you can't play it competitively", which is almost as bad as "this card is bad because doomblade/disenchant". If you like it, run it in a format or environment where you can do it effectively.
I just play a lot of very casual games, including a large amount of EDH/Commander, so I personally haven't really seen how poorly suspend does competitively (then again, that's why I avoid competitive magic, it's just too limited in what's even worth playing; casual just gets so much more creative and fun).
I do think, in Suspend's respect, that there are a lot of cards that could have been done more awesomely; I really liked the guys with X suspends that did a thing each time a counter was removed. More cards with interesting suspend abilities should definitely have been made.

Play with Riku of Two Reflections.

The turn he comes out of suspension, you will have loads of free mana open to copy him.

Darn, you stole my comment. But yes, I do always shout that whenever I finish suspending him and bring him onto the field. It's a fun moment for everyone, especially me.

Each Time Spiral card was an homage to at least one previously printed card.

This card is referencing Tidal Kraken.

I love cards like this that force a sadistic choice upon opponents. Keep casting spells and deal with an unblockable behemoth very soon, or slow down your game to keep it at bay?

So what happens when Deep- Sea Kraken has one time counter on it and on your opponents turn they cast a spell? You cannot cast it can you? Since it is your opponent's turn right?
