not a bad card. but imagine playing this against a permanentless deck...

This + Hivemind in a multiplayer game is absolutely hilarious.

Epic spells are always fun with Hivemind's, as are the pacts, but this card is actually not bad.
I've always loved the "Epic" mechanic, and this is one of the best. Goes along with Sen Triplets don't you think? Let's play with you're opponents deck shall we?

I'm thinking of using this card in a blue control deck. Basically, my opponent would be on complete lock down with cards like Mist of Stagnation, Orb of Dreams, Precognition, and Arcane Laboratory...meanwhile, I'd also have Think Tank and Paradox Haze in play to ensure that I'm the one getting the most out of each turn. I figure if you throw this into the mix, after placing down all the cards mentioned above, I'd get to play any of my opponents cards for free each turn while they struggle to play just one of theirs.
Now, I might know what you're thinking...with Orb of Dreams the permanent would come into play tapped but, if I also have Murkfiend Liege in play or perhaps Merrow Commerce (with merfolk creatures of course), all of my creatures would untap while my opponent is left untapping permanents based on their graveyard.
The only problem I've been running into while making this deck is this...what kinds of creatures should I use? So far I've decided on Djinn of Wishes and Sphinx of Jwar Isle (both together would ensure I get the best choices out of Djinn's ability) but I'm not sure what or who else to add...Chronozoa maybe?

What would happen if your opponent had eternal dominion in his library and you played it with eternal dominion?
edit: Oh woops. Eternal dominion is a sorcery. Sorry!

You can't play a good permadentless deck because lands count as permanents too.

Twincasting this while on the stack is also quite fun and works.
Recap: Ok, so my deck is really fun. It works great in multiplayer (not too good in one-on-one because it's a pretty slow-build deck) and I love the shock on my friends' faces when I play it and copy it 4 times while I have two or three upkeeps. I'm now thinking about putting a Psychogenic Probe in it along with a Memnarch or two.

I love using this card in EDH. Generals like Zur the Enchanter, Arcum Dagson, and, my favorite, Braids, Conjurer Adept can have a lot of fun with it while still slipping plays in with their abilities.

@MTGFreak:
If you Twincast it while it's on the stack, it retains its Epic ability.... In that case would you grab two (or however many times you replayed it before the first resolved) permanents from your opponent's deck each turn?

Probably the best Epic spell. Except Soulscour; now THAT'S an epic spell.
Slap down one Epic spell, then before it resolves, quicken, then put another Epic spell on the stack. By the time one resolves, the other one's already been cast, and is not affected by "You can't cast spells". This has been confirmed by a MTG customer support representative via email..

Why couldn't it have said "permanent card" instead of "artifact, creature, enchantment, or land card"? It would be fun to steal your opponent's planeswalkers.

Just by itself this might turn out to be more of an epic fail than an epic win, at least if you cast it in the late game and play against decks for instance that don't run costy permanents.
Multiplayer blue mage's wet dream for sure. Very risky, for not an overwhelming benefit in relation to its mana cost, but incredibly fun. Even the picture screams epic spell. This is never ever coming out of my mono-blue EDH.
@BlueInkAlchemist Yes, since you aren't casting/playing the copies, you are putting additional copies of the spell onto the stack, as stated in Echo Mage's rulings. So yes, you can indeed copy the spell 2 times over on each of your successive turns with a leveled up mage, building up more and more copies of it. Another cool choice is Uyo, Silent Prophet, to get a whole bunch on stack as soon as possible, before your replicating source is destroyed. Also, you can still replay those lands you bounce since lands are not spells.

So I wonder if this could work while playing a multiplayer game, use Hive Mind cast this card but then counter the one effecting you?

At first I thought "Why would you want to do that?" but that actually seems like a rather clever way to disrupt their decks

The turn after my friend cast this, I drew Declaration of Naught. And there was much weeping. Then he decided to just try to beat me to death with the two creatures he had. Then I charged up Echo Mage and started copying it twice in response to my counters. And there was much resigning.

Can you feel it ,see it, hear it today? If you can't, then it doesn't matter anyway You will never understand it 'cause it happens too fast And it feels so good, it's like walking on glass It's so cool, it's so hip, it's alright It's so groovy, it's outta sight You can touch it, smell it, taste it so sweet But it makes no difference 'cause it knocks you off your feet You want it all but you can't have it It's cryin', bleedin', lying on the floor So you lay down on it and you do it some more You've got to share it, so you dare it Then you bare it and you tear it You want it all but you can't have it It's in your face but you can't grab it It's alive, afraid, a lie, a sin It's magic, it's tragic, it's a loss, it's a win It's dark, it's moist, it's a bitter pain It's sad it happened and it's a shame You want it all but you can't have it It's in your face but you can't grab it

If you're casting any of the Epic spells, make sure to use Chandra, the Firebrand first so that 2 keep going off, as the initial copy will get epic as well. This also goes for any other fork effect on the initial casting of an epic spell.

I'd certainly play this with manlands like Mishra's Factory or Celestial Colonnade, and various permanents like Panoptic Mirror with abilities that let me circumvent the fail part of this epic spell.
This could also be a nice target for Spellweaver Helix to cast it early (via cards like Intuition and Raven's Crime).
