Zombie part makes it OK. 1 toughness makes it iffy.

Out of color, but, trample wouldn't have broke this.

I always liked dross crocodile and lightning elemental. Attack with it and kill a creature. Get it back from the graveyard and do it again. Eventually they run out of blockers.

This is probably better than you think in Limited. He trades with so many things. Tribal synergy with zombies is relevant--Ghoulcaller's Chant and Ghoulraiser are both common. Because of Morbid and Skaabs, trading him off for a 2/2 can still work in your favor; it lets you follow up with a Morkrut Banshee, Skaab Goliath, Somberwald Spider, and so on. I'm not excited to play it, but it should not be underestimated.

Of course, if that's your plan, you will have to watch out for Fortress Crab and Grave Bramble.

Continued from Gallows Warden.

There are 12 cards with the word zombie in them that are not zombies, 4 of them are actually anti-zombie.

Army of the Damned
Cellar Door
Endless Ranks of the Dead
Ghoulcaller's Chant
Grimoire of the Dead
Moan of the Unhallowed
Rooftop Storm
Victim of Night
Blazing Torch (Anti-Zombie)
Elite Inquisitor (Anti-Zombie)
Grave Bramble (Anti-Zombie)
Slayer of the Wicked (Anti-Zombie)

Wow Zombies have some crazy good Enchantment support, and very many good creatures as well, 13 Zombie creatures.

Abattoir Ghoul
Armored Skaab
Diregraf Ghoul
Ghoulraiser
Grimgrin, Corpse-Born
Makeshift Mauler
Rotting Fensnake
Skaab Goliath
Skaab Ruinator
Stitched Drake
Unbreathing Horde
Undead Alchemist
Walking Corpse

It is quite unfortunate, some of them are really really good, some are pretty meh, I think Zombies are the best tribe in Innistrad so far, mostly because they have some impressive creatures and have some excellent support.

I don't want to run outta room so I will continue this on Night Revelers.

I'm kinda sad that this is the lowest rated card in Innistrad right now. It's the only sub 2.0 card, which is impressive. But seriously, I'd consider playing this WAY before I considered playing Fortress Crab.

Thanks to my vote the weakest card in innistrad is still rated over a 2. I am so pumped for the prelease.

dies to smite the monstrous

honestly not that bad... i mean it's going to kill something; think of it as a ok killspell, attack deterrence, and zombie tribal. Really, you just need to play it right

Nothing spectacular but decent in limited. it is a very good deterrent to attacking with a valued creature, and with a pitchfork he becomes a monster, well, more so than before at least. add in the tribal synergies and you have a limited format creature that can fill a slot decently. It does its job.

It gets points for being a zombie snake, but it's pretty unplayable otherwise.

I have mixed feeling about this card. I don't know if it's awful or terrible.

@kanguilla: Some snakes have a secondary ring of teeth in the throat to prevent prey from getting out.

Seriously 4/5 for limited

Use it as a attack deterent (like removal), or better still enchant with specteral flight or equip with pitchfork or cobbled wings and you got a mean attacker, won me 2 games in a sealed tounament

Really its also splashable and a zombie to boot

Actually a more relevant creature type compared to Dross Crocodile. They're both zombies, sure. But snake is a more relevant creature type with its own lords from Kamigawa (such as Seshiro The Anoited and Sosuke, Son Of Seshiro.

Alas, there are no crocodile lords. There are only 10 in the game.

Guess the Fensnake wins for the moment until we get to Crocodile Tribal in the future planned set, LETHE LAKE PLACID!!!

With this, Dross Crocodile, and Skeletal Crocodile, your zombie reptile deck is complete! Since they're all 5/1 critters for 3Black, you'll have an incredibly consistent deck. Might as well fatten them up with Feast of the Unicorn.

You can also splash amphibian by running Anurid Murkdiver, which is possibly the only time in Magic you'll 'splash' for a frog. :)

im conflicted about this card. i mean its a 4 drop for 5/1 when you see the 5 your like YES! then you see the 1 and your like *sigh* i think this card can be useful in all formats if you use 5 mans instead and equip with tainted srike you could be doing some serious poison damage, but to be honest if i had five mana, id rather drop two plague stingers and a tainted strike on one for 3 in the air rather than a 6/1 getting killed by any blocking creature ever. if you are blocked you are dead , and that doesnt appeal to me. 3/5

This guy can be really good if put in the right zombie deck. Think about all the zombie buffer's in standard right now -

Diregraf Captain
Cemetery Reaper
Adaptive Automaton
Mikaeus, The Unhallowed

If you have just one of each of those on the field, then Rotting Fensnake suddenly becomes a 9/5 for 4 mana(!) and can only get better. Chances are by the time you have 4 mana to spend, you will already have at least one of the buffers on the field. With Havengul Lich out, it doesn't even matter if it dies either, since you can simply recast it if you have the mana, and Rooftop Storm makes this combo even better because you can cast it for free! Artful Dodge ensures that the fensnake will always deal damage to the opponent, and Vapor Snag should be your removal of choice if all else fails.

Combine a few more cards like Geralf's Messenger, Gravecrawler, Skinrender, and you've got yourself a deck!

Dying to Guardian Lions, another bad card, is not a place you want to be.

I personally find that this card can get very scary in an Exalted deck. I built an Exalted deck recently and added Rotting Fensnake to it, but I have not had a chance to test it out yet. Just think: with six Exalted permanents on the field, this creature would have some serious power; enough maybe to take down an Eldrazi.

Get it? Plane, like in "Planeswalker"
