3 drop, narrows your deck choices, yet very good.
this, or Dungrove Elder?

Cemetery Reaper and this guy get along very well. I really like that damage can't kill this guy if its toughness is pumped beyond 0.

Turn first: Diregraf Ghoul
Second turn: Walking Corpse
Third turn: Cemetery Reaper
Fourth: Moan of the Unhallowed
Fifth: another Walking Corpse + Unbreathing Horde
This combo makes 7/7 ready to block zombie with protection from damage!

Not absolutely horrible in limited. {2}{B} for a morbid trigger isn't too bad. Even if it eventually shoots our a 5/5 demon.

i'm happy it didn't say, "then remove that many counters"

I wish the card would allow you to have any number of these in a deck

So if you play a spell that does 2 damage to my Horde, it deals 1? So that means if you play a spell that does 13 damage to my 4/4 horde it's now a 3/3 Horde? If I block your 15/15 with my 5/5 Horde, it's now a 4/4 Horde?? Yah that's pretty sick for 3 cmc. I'll take that please.

Fun card, has lots of Zombie potential, and the damage prevention ability reminds me of how red hydras prevented damage back in the day (removing counters.)

Being a player that has always loved zombies, I'm really happy to see some badass zombies returning to the game. I'm loving Innistrad, and I love this card. 4.5/5

I remember reading this and took it as "remove that many +1/+1 counters from it." I thought it was junk and let it go.
Then I was building a Horde deck to play against. This card makes it so difficult at times... I love it.
This card is so underrated. I played this late game with two endless ranks of the dead and 2 parallel lives and dropped two Unbreathing hordes at 321/321 and 322/322. The next game I dropped then 7th turn and dropped them for 32/32 and 33/33. And the part of this card that I love the most is that even if a first strike death touch creature blocks it, it still won't die since death touch has to deal damage and his ability prevents all damage. A definite power house card.

So people are talking about Endless Ranks of the Dead, is this card effected by Token Zombies? Or just Regular Zombie Creature Cards?

Soulless One is a great card. Unbreathing Horde trades in getting bigger when more zombies are around (moving or not) for being vastly harder to put down, and the horrible in ability to die to damage so long as something else toughens them, tack on its ability to neutralize trample, and the only reason I don't run 4 of them is that I like playing with my friends, rather then driving them away.
Combined with Endless Ranks of the Dead and any kind of recursion (I prefer Lord of the Undead myself) you can happily sacrifice it to something, ( Corpse Harvester is about to be one very busy Zombie Wizard!) and then bring it out again even stronger.
It is cards like this which truely justify white's powerful exile and destroy cards. Path to Exile and Day of Judgement (or the old school Wrath of God ) pretty much exist to deal with things like these. Arrest is also good, and even a Unsummon can be worthwhile.

So it has functional indestructibility if zombie lord effects are in play? I think I like that...

Combos with Ring of Xathrid. I'm starting to reconsider the value of this card.

if there is a 5/5 Unbreathing Horde and someone put a spell -5/-5 on the creature... does it die at the end like it will do with an undestructuble creature?
This is a big stop sign for many a kitchen top aggro deck. So what if your Diregraf Ghoul or Highborn Ghoul traded for one of their guys? Just drop the horde T3 as a 2/2 or 3/3, or if your life's not in too much danger then T4 after Diregraf Captain.
Mitigates trample and deathtouch, and when he's finally out of lives or when the captain is killed just bring them both back to life with Ghoulcaller's Chant. Really deters ground-based aggro and leaves removal for the fliers.

this card has an AMAZING interaction with Slitherhead. Seriously, noone thinks that when you've got 4 of them in the graveyard and an empty field, you're gonna drop a nearly unkillable 8/8 for 2B

He seems rather vicious with Death Baron. A damage-proof creature with deathtouch? Yikes.

Apart from the obvious Simic style of this card, unless I am invariably mistaken, if you put something with as small a buff as Angelic Shield will insure that it will never die without taking a -X/-1 type hit. Put down a Conjurer's Closet, and you effectively have a 2-part ultimate defender with a good amount of damage who can actually attack effectively (but not flying), for at least 4 collective mana. This card would be made best with changeling- and/or zombie- oriented populate combos and some Simic style transference combos to keep moving more counters onto it every turn than can be removed, making it one of the few ultimate defenders that can do effective damage and acting as a deterrent, much the same as the 'indestrosnake' effect, for those of you who've heard of it
