blue is the proliferate color. i can see some pretty good infect control deck being made, with these guys there to sneak in a point of damage to proliferate with.

Me gusta.

Poison your opponents early, then hit them later with a Chained Throatseaker? Why yes I will take four!

I am hoping so hard that the "James Bond" nick-name will stick with this guy.

This with the infect drake could be a good way to build a blue infect deck. add some corrupted consciences, contagion clasps, and some control and you have yourself a decent deck.

The red phyrexian faction's ideology seems rather anarchistic. Huge hate for phyrexian white's dogma and blue's hunger for authority. Urabrask Anarchist WOO!

All sorts of broken and all sorts of awesome. Blue Infect is getting huge boosts from this set.

For one of the few blue-infectors, I wouldn't expect anything else. Its basically an Unblockable 2/1 for 2, so just the infect version of Phantom Warrior. The thing I like is despite its first impression, its not too unbalanced, until you put it in a U/G Infect deck, which then makes this card a possible T3 win:
T1: Forest
T2: Island, Blighted Agent
T3: Forest, Attack -> Groundswellx2 + Mutagenic Growth, GG

It won't come up too often, but this, and 2-3 pump spells in hand T1 puts good odds on you at least doing some significant damage.

Let's be honest:
There's a reason why almost all infect decks run Plague Stinger.
This guy's another 2-drop in infect,
And I think it might be the best (2-drop) in the current environment.

Blue/Black Infect Control is looking increasingly ridiculous and silly.

I love Infect. It's the best keyword to come to town in quite a while.

bigdeezy88: don't worry about a Metamorph. Just tag this one with a Liquimetal Coating and you're all set.

As far as {U}/{B} infect goes, this may is strictly better than Plague Stinger, but thankfully you can still run both.

I love Boakes2047's choice of the cloak and dagger almost as much as I love this card.

There's so many pieces of equipment from the old Mirrodin block that are so nasty on this guy, seriously like take your pick. The two best though I think are neurok stealthsuit and cranial plating. Cheap to play/equip, has the fast-switch, are artifacts themselves, and are blue and black respectively (currently the most prominent infecting colors).

That's why I love this card. On it's own it's solid but not game breaking. As soon as you slap some enchantments/equipment on him, loooook out.

If my deck were a movie, it would be a buddy-cop film starring this guy and Plague Stinger

Seriously, I get either of those two out, pump them like a mofo, and I'm usually victorious before I can even get my Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon out.

Easily my favorite card in the set. :D

It holds up well late game. It goes very well with sword of feast and famine, practically guaranteeing you will get those lands untapped. Particularly useful for getting out and tapping Contagion Engine in the same turn.

If you're running an infect deck with blue in it, and you're not running 4 Blighted Agents, you're wrong.
Only way it could be better is if it was 1/2 with no infect, and was a bird.

Opening hand: Swamp, Swamp, Island, Blighted Agent, Vampire's Bite, Vampire's Bite, Turn Aside

That's 7 poison counters on turn 3 and protection for you Agent. I've gotten this hand a few times. You're opponent will hate you forever.

So, basically, the card was so good they figured the only way to slow it down was to give it horrible, horrible art? He appears to be stalking someone while holding a doorstop with not one, but two, badly drawn arms. I feel like a jerk for using this card.

Throw on Sword of Body and Mind and he can start to do some serious damage, while spawning chump blockers while milling and dealing massive Infect damage.

People like to say that infect "basically" just doubles the creatures power, as in "This is basically a 2/1 for 2," but this card, or more to the point, the Infect Combo decks built around this card, really illustrate how much of an understatement that is. Infect doubles a creature's power, doubles the effect of any power bonuses they receive and makes the damage they deal to creatures and players permanent.

@grandpraetor ARE YOU SERIOUS?! DID YOU JUST CALL NECROPEDE A BETTER CARD THAN AN UNBLOCKABLE 1/1 INFECT FOR 2
grandpraetor
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.5/5.0) (1 vote)
@BrightOrangePants
Necropede can clear the board in the early game, even dying for removal. Think it against a Stromkirk Noble, or Bloodcrazed Neonate, Grim Lavamancer or even Blighted Agent. Like a early game removal.

This is my 3 color, no rare, no mythic infect deck and it consistently kills in 2-3 turns:
(I would run Reckless Charge instead of the souleaters if I had them)
4x Blighted Agent
4x Glistener Elf
4x Elvish Spirit Guide
4x Simian Spirit Guide
3x Immolating Souleater (currently use in case my infecters get picked-off early)
4x Groundswell
3x Giant Growth
4x Mutagenic Growth
4x Unstable Mutation
4x Assault Strobe
4x Teetering Peaks
8x Forest
10x Island

I like to run 4 with some angelic destiny and double cleaves. On 6th turn you can drop angelic destiny and double cleave for unblockable 10 poison. It works pretty well when opponent is tapped out. I'm a new player and just discovered the combo by accident. What y'all think?
Paleopaladin

Throw an Unstable Mutation on it. By the time this thing dies, it will have dealt exactly 10 damage to your opponent by itself (in 4 turns, no less!.

I always wonder- how/why the heck is that a human? Did the phyrexians just take a human give him a beak and staple a pass on his back that says unblockable?
bay_falconer
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
It's unblockable, has infect, and the color pie really doesn't exist in this particular block. Combo decks are back, witches!
Lifegainwithbite

A great card because it will terrify your opponents into removing it asap, letting you play your deadlier stuff with one less removal to worry about.

Some often overlooked pump spells for our friend here are Invigorate and Wild Might. The one extra point Might gives over Groundswell is definitely worth it even for the extra mana thanks to the number of +4/+4 options (and obviously the +2/+2 option of Mutagenic Growth), being the all too crucial difference between 9 and 10 in a single swing. Might of Old Krosa is also a solid alternative to Groundswell, exchanging surprise value for reliability.
TheWrathofShane

removal or gg.

Fortunately, he dies to everything. Might want to drop this with 3 or 4 mana to have counter mana.

They basically have 10 turns to draw removal or die, mostly.
Vastator
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
As if infect wasn't dangerous enough already this thing just has to be unblockable as well.

... It's like getting the Black Death and then finding out you've got Aids and Ebola besides that.

That being said, you guys know all the "flipped table jokes?"

Yeah.

To quote a friend of mine: "I know you hate my token deck, but I f**king hate that infect deck of yours. I'm NOT playing against it."
ThatChrisFella
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
Something along the lines of this happened to me today:
Turn 1: Simic guildgate
Turn 2: swamp, Blighted Agent
Turn 3: Island, Skeletal Grimace. Attack for 2 unblockable infect
Turn 4: Forest, Ana Sanctuary, Attack for 2 infect again
Turn 5: Blighted Agent is now a 7/7 for this turn, due to having a blue and black permanent. Opponent was suddenly on 11 poison counters.

Blighted Agent is ridiculous.
T1: Island
T2: Forest, Blighted Agent
T3: Forest, Phytoburst and Forced Adaptation. Attack for 6 unblockabld
T4: Forest, basically anything that gives a +2/+2 buff. Let's say Blanchwood armor. Attack for 5 unblockable and win.

This is Phyrexia's version of a human. It's a good card, of course, but that's what strikes me most. That thing is still identifiable as a human.
