It's like supershroud! Woo! At least it costs seven the funniest thing is only a green creature can trade with this one on one, usually, so It sort of has pro non green.

Apparently haste on big creatures is the new green "thing". It doesn't have Vengevine's reanimation ability but it doesn't need it with its super shroud ability.
Can't be countered will make this card very pleasing to cast against a control deck and it's unlikely to come up against too many creatures with the power to kill it. One of green's best creatures now (and a good target for enchantments or other buffs), too bad most players will never own one. Didn't WotC say something about mythic not being for tournament cards? Hahahaha.

8 hasted power for 7 that screws blue...i have been waiting for a creature like this for a long time. That 5 toughness will cause a lot of trades, but that doesn't mean this won't be played out the wazoo. I just hope that it doesn't end up being 50 bucks.
Anyone else think that they made so many ridiculously powerful green cards in m11 because green will be royally shafted in scars of mirrodin?

A flavorful, rampable, and powerful card worthy of the Mythic Rare slot. The 5 toughness still allows U/W's Baneslayers to hold down the fort against it, but if green players catch them off guard with this, it's basically game.

This card is a commentary on the rape of the Earth being committed by humanity. Our greedy ambition (black) and smug, self-superior know-it-all-ness (blue) are deeply angering to the Earth; our shortsightedness (red) and absurdly naive belief in our own purity and innate goodness (white) raise its savage temper yet further. Only through a return to the ways of nature and an understanding of kill-or-be-killed, primal life in all its brutal glory can humanity avoid a hasty demise in the crushing grasp of Gaea herself.

"Baneslayer Angel has first strike and can block, .5/5."
Those are the only two statements I've heard about any decent cards.
Luckily, this can't be affected by the Blade, so I haven't had the need to hear about it.
Are people really starting to compare these guys based soley on its comparison to a few cards?
Let's face it, this guy is a solid card with solid abilities.
Are you going to cry about the fact that all you need is the classic Giant Growth to get around BS Angel?
Or, do people forget that green has some of the most cards that bump up a creature?
Let's face it, BS is good,
But you can't compare it to every other card.
Next I'll be seeing "Falls to BS" on every other card with toughness <= 5.

@Faust: Your opponent can't lignify it, because it can't be targeted by him. Obviously chump blocking, counterspells, and everything that doesn't target still works.
@Fuast-the-Desolate: Planar Chaos' Utopia Vow would actually be decent against this guy; once they have enough mana to play a 7 CMC creature, giving them 1 more isn't likely to help them, but turning their 8/5 beater into a manabot would be worth it anyway.

This card is the end of blue even with mana leak back. Jace can't react to it, other creatures aren't big enough to tangle with it, it can't be mind controlled or bounced, and it doesn't care about any sort of counter spell beyond mindbreak trap (which costs 4 and is rarely ever run). This has nothing to do with vengevine beyond being green and hasty, it functions in an entirely seperate role from vengevine, as a gigantic finisher for ramp decks such as eldrazi, gw, gu, and is great against pretty much anything. I can see graveyard return being really great for this creature as well, since a rise from the grave could bring it right back with hasty goodness, and in extended you can use torrent of souls to get an extra +2 on top of that for a 10/5.
Also, brutal blue killer target when you throw umbras on it, as umbras are a green spell. Vines of vastwood also works on this guy, which is incredibly brutal. It wont work almost anywhere else but a dedicated green deck and yet where it does its amazing, even a nature's spiral can let you replay it for an extra 2 mana.

@Artscrafter: yea, this is one of the strongest protections I've seen on a creature aside from Troll Shroud. However, you left out a couple of things: he's susceptible to any sort of board wipe, he can be killed by anything with deathtouch, you can be forced to sacrifice him, and so on. I'm not saying he isn't ridiculously powerful, but Wizards is giving us some obvious hints as to how he should be dealt with, namely the lack of trample and the 5 toughness.

@majinara: Why wouldn't Lignify work? This can be targeted by green.
This thing is just kind of unfair in limited. The uncounterable/supershroud effects negate pretty much all of the stock answers that any color can pull off. Sure, there are creatures that can trade with it in every color and miscellaneous answers in several, but most of them are rare or mythic so you have to happen to get one. You pretty much have to multiblock it and pray they aren't holding on to a Giant Growth.
Total answers for this card in this set at common/uncommon by color: White: 0 creatures, 0 removal, 2 creature-boosting auras, 2 combat tricks. Blue: 2 creatures (including Water Servant with pumping), 0 anything else. Black: 1 creature (Reas.sembling Skeleton), 0 removal, 1 aura Red: 0 creatures, 0 removal, 1 aura, 1 combat trick (Not counting Arc Runner because you won't be able to block with it unless you have Leyline of Anticipation.) Green: 4 creatures, 1 combat trick Artifacts: 1 equipment, and you could possibly count Juggernaut and Voltaic Key.
By comparison, everything else in the set is susceptible to A.ssas.sinate (except Sun Titan without support), Condemn, Diminish, Mind Control, Pacifism, can be tapped by Blinding Mage, and can be hit with burn or the appropriate color-specific removal.
@achilleselbow: I was specifically referring to M11 limited here. Sure, Day of Judgment could take care of this but you'd have to happen to get it; that's why I wasn't listing rares in the count above since my point was that you nearly have to pull specific rares just to have an answer to this. And deathtouchers were included in my creature count.

It is very flavorful unsolvability, but troll shroud(hexproof) is more powerful, way simpler and is already understood.

Blind Seer + any kill spell. Now people can officially say "Dies to Doom Blade." And as everyone knows, if a creature can be killed somehow, that creature officially sucks. Only creatures that absolutely cannot be killed or removed from the game are worth playing, right? I'll just have to go browse my collection again to see which cards I have that fit that requirement....
AlcariTheMad: You are correct. However, that little issue can be fixed by throwing a Redirect into the mix. Play the Doom Blade targeting another creature, then use Blind Seer to change the color and after the color change resolves you can Redirect it to this bad boy. Overly difficult? Sure. Unlikely to ever happen? Absolutely. But at least then people could use those precious Doom Blades.
