An excellent, flexible piece of removal.

This is one of those spells that gets BETTER in the hands of a more experienced player.

There's a beast within us all, lurking just on the periphery of our hearts. Scratching just beneath the surface of your skin, wrestling with your soul for control of your body.

It's also *** green permanent removal, how about that shit?

I'm having a fun time imagining a little 3/3 beast popping out of Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle as it crumbles to the ground.

This is what green has needed for a long time. Good green removal. It takes out a *permanent*, giving green a direct way to deal with planeswalkers. It is also more versatile, able to do what a Vindicate can do, at INSTANT SPEED, for only one colored mana. The 3/3 beast token is barely a drawback compared to what you can remove with this, and can even be exploited. If needed, you can even use it on one of your own permanents, including a land, to use as a chump blocker during an opponent's attack, or to remove a pesky enchantment or equipment on an attacking creature to bring it down to size during combat.

This is a good example of "just when you thought you won the game GUESS WHAT? You didn't...."

4.5/5 for excellent green removal

@Totema: you think THAT's funny? Try to wrap your head around this one: it can pop out of enchantments.

How does this even work?!

0.5/5 for continuing to pile mechanics on green that have no business in green.

Whenever you see the words 'Destroy target permanent' on a green card, something's about to be up.
Also, it's hilarious picturing a 3/3 Beast emerging from a Moat or Sigil of the Empty Throne

Besides the obvious power of killing anything on the enemy's field. You can set up turn two with Hatching Plans and pop this during their turn for 3 cards and a 3/3 blocker. 4/5

Gets a ton better when you have a mid-class blocker that can keep the token at bay. Loses power otherwise, especially against fast aggro decks.

I used Porcelain Legionnaire with this in my mono green deck. Look for any cheap creatures that can win trades, especially for early game. Garruk, Primal Hunter also works wonders.

Green removal for a three drop? What is this nonsense?

...of course, it's amazing, but it has no business in green. Cards like this and Rancor make me wonder if Wizards should be allowed to print cards anymore.

Planeswalkers, of course, represent an ally who supports you through loyalty. Casting a spell on them doesn't actually kill them, it just makes them give up for one reason or another and leave.

Therefore, the image in my head when you cast this on, say, Jace, is that this spell makes a huge ugly mole-monster burst out of his mouth, after which he understandably says "screw these guys" and leaves.

An instant speed Vindicate shoulden't even exist...

Great in general, but Pulse of the Tangle and any Garruk cards can trade with the token (usually at card advantage for you still.)

It really is great. When that giant Demon, Angel, or Dragon is about to hit you, it's nice to turn it into a beast that can't even fly. Even better? If you're getting mana-flooded this can eat a land and surprise kill a blocker; beautiful and actually fairly difficult to use properly. I ended up swapping it for Putrify's and Golgari Charms in my G/B.

Again, I'd prefer this in my Beast Token deck, not only because it makes sense, but because Pulse of the Tangle means I never have a problem with the beast.

Kills Thragtus... erm. I also like the idea of a spell duel changing one permanent into different guises via Turn // Burn, Pongify Rapid Hybridization etc. an Ape no, now it is a Frog-Lizard, now its a 0/1 Weird.. etc

I honestly don't mind this card. It's green removal, but you also have to consider that it's technically a Green 3/3 in the right deck. Target an indestructible creature of your own, for example, or upgrade a smaller token/useless creature.

On the other hand, I do think that perhaps being a mono-colored permanent destroyer might be a bit over the top. 1BG should have been fine. We've already seen the terrors of black/green removal before, so this should have been comparatively painless.
