Offers quite a bit of control and rather playable in SSE draft formats. Becomes useful in sometimes surprising ways. Much better than Pili-Pala for mana.
The absolute best scarecrow out there! XD
Love him mostly for the 2/2 for 3 colorless that can produce mana of ANY color for anything. Plus the other ability has possibilities! I love the pic too!! Idk which I like more the image or it's abilities LOL :D

5/1/2008 Colorless is not a color. 5/1/2008 The second ability won't make an artifact creature stop being an artifact. It'll just be a colorful artifact.
I love the rulings on this card

Perhaps you should actually, you know, search the database. There are quite a few.

This guy's like a super mana myr. Costs one more but gets +1/+1 and can make any color plus it comes with that color changing bonus. Great card.

I love this guy! three colourless mana for a 2/2 with two really useful abilities, you just can't go wrong. There's barely a deck that that guy doesn't work in, I have a mono black removal deck that only really works because of this.
Opponent: Hah! your pathetic doom blade is no match for my Grave Titan!
Me: Okay, your Grave titan is now red. Doom Blade.
Opponent: Damn.
Opponent: My White Knight has protection from black, your Royal Assassin is useless, bwahaha!
Me: Okay, my Royal Assassin is now blue, check mate.
Opponent: Damn.
Definately one of my favourite cards

Probably my favorite card in the entire game. SO many ways you can just have fun with this card, and SO many uses. Got a doom blade in hand but your opponent has a black creature? Now it's Red and Blue. They have a creature with protection from a color you have and decide to chump block it? Activate the Scuttlemutt to make your attack something else they can't defend against and take them out. Heck, not too long ago I played an EDH game with a friend who had Animar, Soul of Elements while I had Oros, the Avenger out. I throw on an aura to protect Scuttlemutt, tap it to make Oros pure Red, swing in the air, and nuke Animar and kept Scuttlemutt alive.
The ability to tap for any mana is just icing on the cake and helps out in quite a few ways. For one, if you have some infinite mana combo going but only of one color (rare, but it can happen), and you can untap Scuttlemutt somehow, you can effectively filter the mana into other colors. Or, more than likely, you can use it in multi-color EDH decks to make mana of a color you don't have access to right then and there or need more of.

Classic move with this guy is to throw him in a deck with grindstone and mill your way to a win.

@Pantheon I don't think that will work.
And it's a common?

Huh. This might actually be better a better common 3 CMC colorless mana-fixer than Pilgrim's Eye. He ramps or fixes mana when you need it, bashes for two points when you don't, and is tech against that sod who just slammed a Guardian of the Guildpact during the cube draft. This is going on my wish-list.
Cheap combo with Civic Saber to give anybody +5/+0 for 2 colorless.

@Axelle: No it's not strictly better. Alloy Myr is a Myr. It's part of a tribe. If you're running a Myr deck, Alloy Myr is a much better fit. Strictly better means better in every situation like Counterspell is strictly better than Cancel.
Helps with ramp and lets your doomblades always hit, also can be used to block protection. Also it can help out in combat. Alloy Myr eat your heart out!

Best scarecrow. Rare when a mana dork has an ability more useful than the mana. I was playing someone who Doom Bladeded it the instant it came out so it couldn't protect itself, naturally. Then he used Cemetery Puca on it. The he tutored for every Black Knight in the deck. I put out a Charnelhoard Wurm and attacked when he had an untapped Royal Assassin, hoping he'd take the bait. He didn't. I don't blame him. You know a mana dork is good when you pass up an 6/6 trample for it.
@Pantheon: You can't target a creature with this if it's not actually on the battlefield.
There's nothing like killing them with this guy either. I won a two-headed giant game last night with a scuttlebutt rocking Unscythe, Killer of Kings and bestowed with Chromanticore. A 9/9, flying, firststrike, trample, vigilance, lifelink scuttlebutt that gives me zombies. Best scuttlebutt I've ever seen.
