Not really broken, tap in response to activation. plus with new rulings, they don't even need to think about mana needed to cast spells because of the no burn change. Only thing this really does is make them choose to cast spells on your turn or their turn.

Nice, totally need one for my Mesmeric Orb deck.

It's still good, still causing people to tap out in most cases. Control decks would usually be better with this.

This + Pendrell Mists would make 50% of all opponents actually punch you.

This card is nice in combination with just about anything esp enchant land cards like contaminated ground since it forces them to no matter what tap the other lands it produces.
However the good part is if Mana web is being used against you you just tap all of your mana in response to its effect and therefore you get all your mana you just need to make sure you want to use it then.
Again its a well balenced card especially useful against blue counter deck :D no instants for them if they want to play a creature :D only thing is make sure you say you are tapping all your lands for maan rather than the effect of the mana web

Combos nicely with Storm Cauldron, though. And by "nicely", I of course mean "OMGit'sincredibleIcan'tbelieveitthiswillreallyannoymyopponents".

Though it is true they can tap out to get all their mana to simply make their play more awkward, with cards that force payment you can do some evil things. Pendrell Mists is excellent, restricting them to not having creatures or just playing instants. Also, try the Rhystic cards.

Play with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth to force your opponents to tap their lands.

Use with Winters Orb, perhaps?

I've always loved this card. Right now I'm trying to build a deck around it with stuff like Mana Chains, Mundungu and Force Spike.

@niceguygreensboro Storm cauldron triggers when people tap lands for mana. So it doesn't bounce all of their lands, if that's what you were getting at

I don't see how this card isn't 5/5. Pretty much prevents opponents playing mono color from doing anything but cast instants and 1 mana creatures.

@Kryptnyt: Pairs well with storm cauldron as your opponent will either only get one mana, or they'll have to sweep most of their lands.

Does that really say what I think it says? For three colourless mana (so probably before they get too many mana-producing artifacts and creatures)?
"The opponent can tap his or her lands for mana in response to Mana Web’s ability triggering." Oh, what a big difference one ruling can make.

I'd just like to make sure everyone is on the same page. The other lands do NOT tap for mana UNLESS your opponent taps them in response. As a result, if your opponent does not realize this, you are sitting pretty... also, if you can make them pay mana on their upkeep, that works great, an amazing combo with this is by using Pendrell Mists which forces them to choose between killing all their creatures or having no mana for summoning more

"I respond with a shatter to your kneecaps". You only ever get to use a Mana Web deck once.

It's a good card in combination with anything that makes your opponent pay mana at odd times. Pendrell Mists for their upkeep, Propaganda (which forces them to pay during their attack step), anything that makes them pay mana to block your creatures, Mana Spike... you get the idea. I made a deck based around that once; you just have to include as many different things to make them pay mana at different times as possible.
Oh, and psychic venom, of course.

One of the most godawfully frustrating cards to play around.
Yuk. Takes too much to make this card effective. With the elimination of mana burn back in 2010, there is nothing stopping people from tapping out for mana in response to this effect.

I really think this card could easily be used in all decks. The ability will frequently either shut down the opponent's main phases, or prevent instants and flash spells from being cast. It will single-handedly shatter any deck that is based on counterspells. It will always be at the very least extremely inconvenient. Yes, there are combos, but if you ever have any space in your new deck, throw a few of these in there and see how it goes. I can guarantee that your opponent will not be happy.

I think the reason this card is not staple is because your opponent has the ability to tap their lands that would be tapped in response to this cards trigger.
Basically, 3 mana force your oppoent to use all their mana in one phase. Really nice verse blue though, and punishing enough vs decks that dont run seedborn muse or prophet of kruphix... and of course lots of filter rocks.
