I like the cut of her jib. I also like how she's dual-wielding palisades as shields/clubs.

My Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant EDH deck is very pleased about this.

Well, it locks control decks winning with a single treath.

I don't know... The stats are atrocious. 2/7 for six mana? Baaaaahh... And no flying, vigilance, first strike or anything. Sure, the ability is not bad, but it seems to me that with THIS mana cost and such low stats, this will be a six mana fog in the late game.

This is a very strong defensive card that pros like me will be all over. Being a soldier helps it's cause a little as well.

Word on the street is that she was trained by a Veteran Bodyguard, but didn't see why she only had to protect one person at a time.

Also, Inviolability.

Terrifying Presence? I also think this card could work well with Darksteel Plate, Necrobite, or that instant for Green in that makes your guy indestructible until eot. I feel like, 5 and 6 drops should IMMEDIATELY change the board state and/or win you the game. I mean sure, if you have ramp/infinite mana, no big deal right? I don't see this making tier 2 or even casual decks. The only good thing about this being rare, is the fact that I am less likely to see this card in a booster pack. I would say it's limited playable except for the fact that it is a rare. I would feel bad pulling this even at uncommon level from a booster pack.

2/5

Top deck bonfire or overloaded mortars? Nah it's okay, she'll take it all. She was really fun in limited vs burn, especially the event I had two of them in the deck. Also might be fun in standard with Ghostly Possession against aggro.

I pulled two of her at the pre-release, including one in my Guild booster.

Major sad-face ensued.

Crap.
I don't think this is even playable in limited.

@ThisisSakon you can't populate this

Needs closer to 10 toughness so it could conceivably last more than a turn without help from another card. As it is, she's like a huge, expensive sacrificial lamb. At least, if you are being threatened by a single fatty with >6 power, you are good. :/

Underrated. You $100 deck players are spoiled.

Lovely card.

Just as a side note, all "can not regenerate" effects cycle on Oct 5th. so if you slap a skeletal grimace onto this guy and regenerate him, thats an alternative to keeping him alive from destruction effects like dreadbore andsupreme verdict and since abrupt decay doesn't apply then you'll just have to watch out for counterspells and exile.

But this one did really well at the prerelease, I except it to become a strong six drop for white and its color combos. Regenerate, indestructible and hexproof are good ways to secure your victory. 4/5 for flavor and helping white decks stall even longer than normal, with the right help. Get some while they're not all hyped.

It sounds crazy to say, but 7 toughness isn't enough. If she blocks one fatty and another one gets through, she's done for. For six mana and a relatively narrow ability, this needs to be a card that shuts down offense. Unfortunately, it doesn't.

Hey, it's a "Bodyguard" essentially! Cool - I though that mechanic had disappeared for good. Not a bad card at all in a long game, such as Commander.

OMG nobody has mentioned Azor's Elocutors? Get imaginative people! A few Martial Law, a Supreme Verdict, the Elocutors, and then this guy? She stops burn decks from getting around your creature lockdown. You could further compound things by using Ghostly Possession to just straight out prevent some damage and since you are running so many enchantments throw in Safety Sphere.

A 4/5? Probably not but definitely not a 2/5 either.

@ Lagg

You don't think this is good in Limited? Have you played against Elderscale Wurm in M13 limited?

If you haven't, then you should try to (somehow).

Once you have, you'll see what this can do in Limited.

@ToAsTy42o: Cackling Counterpart. Rite of Replication. You can populate most anything. Imagination, people.

@Anybody asking about multiple copies: "If you control more than one Palisade Giant, you choose which redirection effect to apply. You can’t divide damage dealt by one source. For example, if an attacking creature would deal 8 damage to you and you control two Palisade Giants, you may have that damage dealt to either of the Palisade Giants. You can’t have 4 damage dealt to each Giant or choose to have the 8 damage dealt to you."

This is a MUST PICK in limited, change your colors I don't care! It's so good.

Yeah this one just needs indestructible. although six mana is pretty high for something with no evasion at all.

This card, together with Vigor could be a pretty awesome way to finish off any game.

Definitely decent in limited, especially if you can get auras to increase toughness. 2nd picked her in a booster draft got several creature auras (Knightly Valor /Ethereal Armor) and had 3 games where she completely stonewalled opposing players because they couldn't get enough damage on her to kill her.

What happens when you put another copy of this on the battlefield? Where the f*ck does the damage go?!

EDIT: There. Obviously you can't populate this, that was just a much more space-saving way of writing what was in bold.

k just trying to get a ruling fog bank blocks a death touch creature while palisades out the damage that would be dealt to him is preveted before redirected or the other way around? damage isnt dealt till it resolves right and if it has to resolve to be redirected fog banks static ability prevents it thus its now zero before it hits palisade if it hits it at all and does not kill either just let me know please

Give him protection!
Protection prevents all damage from source of the type you have protection from.
enchant him with protection from creatures and no more combat damage! All dealt to you will be prevented.
Give him protection from colors your opponent controls and they can no longer damage you or your creatures.

As far as I can see nobody's asked this. When two 2/2's are attacking on Palisade Giant players hand, and Palisade Giant is not attacking, does the return damage from the opponents' 3 3/2's all go to Palisade Giant?
So, does he take all of the opponents' defense damage if his side is attacking?

The Subtype Giant fits perfectly with Favor of the Mighty. You are Invincible aggainst colored sources. (if Palisade Giant is the biggest creature in play of course)

my opponent playing this won me a match thanks to progenitor mimic, this card is really really good for slowing down a game.

ThisisSakon: a replacement can only occur once so for each copy the effects bounce the damage around until each has been affected and had another copy redirect it to themselves, when they have all redirected all the damage the last ones on the stack to redirect to themselves take it.

The problem I see with this card is that the card advantage you get isn't worth the converted mana cost, especially in this block where aggro is common, meaning she won't be alive for long. While not taking any damage for a turn is nice, you can get the same effect out of cards like Fog, Safe Passage or Riot Control, all of which are much cheaper options to keep you alive for a turn while still have mana left in the bank.

The idea is nice though, but she's not right for this block.

It may seem a bit underwhelming at first since it's basically a pariah on (giant) legs, but there is one pretty unique thing it has going for it. It redirects all damage that all your permanents take, including planeswalkers. Does it make an amazing card? I don't think so, not by itself at least. I do definitely think that in the right deck though this could easily swing the tide of a game. So many times I've been one turn away from using an ultimate, and this could have given me that turn.

How does this work in a 2-headed-dragon game? If your ally is damaged can you redirect?
Also, notable combo cards: Gift of Immortality, Indestructibility, Hold the Gates.
